Gold Mirror Italian Restaurant
The Gold Mirror offers an increasingly hard-to-find experience of great culinary skill with an extremely welcoming atmosphere accompanied by a storied wine and cocktail program. The Gold Mirror has been a neighborhood tradition for over 50 years while continuing to serve as a sense of home for all San Franciscans.

Our experience at The Gold Mirror was excellent. Service was a bit slow at the beginning, but once we engaged with the waiter everything was very good. Our waiter was friendly and efficient, drinks and food delicious. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Service was very good and the ambiance is comfortable and wonderful old world. We had a lovely evening and will certainly be back.
Ordered Veal Parmesan. The worst I have ever been served. Dry & Tastless. Almost sent it back.
One of the finest restaurants in the city a revelation in a land of mediocrity. Classic Italian with a great bar!
Their dinner was fabulous. I’ve been going there for years. I’m never disappointed.
This is our favorite restaurant! The food is always deliciously consistent, the service excellent and an old San Francisco ambience, for those of you who remember the Fox theater or the Financial district restaurants of old, this is truly a gem in the Sunset District.
We want to give a shout-out to “Oscar” the best waiter there and to the Chefs, Luigi and Dominico, your food is superb!
Excellent, old-school Italian restaurant. Make reservations. It is a neighborhood favorite.
Nice, old fashioned place! A real throwback. A neighborhood gem.
Their calamari is the gold standard. Their house Manhattan is perfection. If you don't like an old school atmosphere, please skip it so we can have the place to ourselves.
Great place if you are a fan of neighborhood San Francisco Italian food as I am. It’s our go to for family style dining. Also great for a date night.
This resturant is one of my favorites. Amazing Italian food, with a very attentive and good mannered staff. It was a perfect place to celebrate me and my girlfriends anniversary.
This was my first time at the gold mirror. I have been searching for restaurants in San Francisco that aren’t precious and use ingredients that anyone can decipher. I had this on my list and brought some out of town visitors along. I like the funky old world decor and the atmosphere is fun and festive. I ordered eggplant parm which is one of my favorite foods. The eggplant was mushy and slimy and the dish was lacking in any discernible flavor. It was a big disappointment. My friend who ordered the clam chowder and avocado salad was pleased with her meal and one out of two people were thrilled with the chicken parm. I would probably go back to try something else but I’m not in a hurry.
Brought out of town company!
The seafood special consisted of 2 scallops and 2 shrimps only. A bit overpriced at $29. Veal catalolloni was very good, yet consistency of the cheese sauce was questionable. Also dish lacked presentation and looked like a cafeteria food. Poor selection of good per glass wines. Considering we’re near wine country it should be easy to find a nice bottles of any type of wine at reasonable price. Great service and background music.
Best Cannelloni in the Bay Area!
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We live it . Consistently great. Everyone is nice, but our favorite waiter is Paola. He is so nice and fun. Try the Prawns Dore, the salmon, Veal Parmigiana, and so much more. Highly recommended
Frequent diner at Gold Mirror. The problem this Wednesday night was a 2-1/4 hr dinner for four people. Although courteous, service was extremely slow.
We went back here after many years for its 50th Anniversary ( we didn't even know it was still open!). We were seated immediately, and service was prompt, if a bit brusque. We ordered the specials and one item off the menu (saltimbocca). The saltimbocca was good-not great. My burrata salad was also good but not great. The burrata had a sour taste that I found somewhat unpleasant and unusual. The desserts were good, including a zabaglione that is not usually found on menus much anymore. The service was good- the waiter apparently knew all the regulars! We enjoyed the experience overall but are in no hurry to go back.
The food and the service was excellent, but I did feel a bit rushed as if they needed the table to be freed-up. I will definitely return, though. The prices were reasonable, and the restroom clean.
Service was the worst ever. Waited almost 30 minutes for a cocktail over an hour for dinner, never asked if we wanted a second drink and was afraid to wait for dessert. Never will be going back again.
You can always count on the Gold Mirror for great food for the value.
You need to improve the service, the waiters are not that good.
Best Inner Sunset restaurant where the locals go and your bound to run into someone you went to school with. Love the creative veal dishes.
Great neighborhood dining. Local favorite for the Sunset District and beyond. Excellent dining experience for couples, families or groups. Gold Mirror offers many selections of their standard menu and inserts a paper menu for the evening specials. As a native San Franciscan, we have been going for decades. If you haven't been, try it!
A good menu. Food is always consistent. Noise level high
Absolutely great Italian food at reasonable prices. Parking is good. Menus specials change frequently. Wife and I like to order several courses which we split to get more tastes. Kitchen split the orders without us having to ask... plan to go back next week. Luigi
Great old fashioned Italian Restaurant. Large and lively atmosphere.
I live in the neighborhood & think this is a great restaurant. The food is excellent, great wine list & a fabulous bar. It's a great spot for a nice dinner
bartender made the best gin gimlet ever !
Scallops were delicious.
This is our 4th or 5th time dining at Gold Mirror and we have had a great experience every time. We love almost everything that we have tried so far, but some favorites are the cannelloni, veal milanese, veal saltimbocca and tiramisu. We will definitely be dining here again soon!
After seeing lots of recommendations we tried Gold Mirror for the first time for dinner. We liked the clean and comfortable ambience and neighborhood feel to this restaurant. The service was prompt and pleasant and fresh bread was delivered right away. The Caesar salad with anchovies was fresh and the taste was ok but not great. The cannelloni and lasagna bolognese entrees were delicious but perhaps a bit too runny and overloaded with cheese. The barbera wine was fine and a nice complement to the food.
We will likely return to try other items on the menu.
Consistently excellent value. Notable for fish dishes.
II’ve been to Gold mirror many times and have never been disappointed
Super friendly service with an extensive menu of authentic Italian food.
Love this place! We drove in from the Napa Valley to have a San Francisco "nostalgia" meal in our former neighborhood. Gold Mirror is "old" San Francisco Italian without being musty and tired. The wine list is quite a nice surprise with some smaller Napa producers represented that we don't usually see outside of the valley. The Petrale sole was heaven.
They called me to confirm the reservation booked on Open Table and when we had to add to our party and change the time, they were most accommodating.
It is popular place, clearly still a local favorite, noise levels are high. Prices are moderate, portions generous. Highly recommend.
Can’t believe I missed this place for the last several years. Odd room, but good drinks, good menu, good service, excellent pasta. Highly recommend it.
Jason, our wait person was AMAZING !! We LOVE, LOVE “the GM” !😘
So great seeing Kiata tooooo !!!
Good consistent, reasonably priced food, ambience and great friendly service, unbeatable combination.
A classic authentic "red sauce joint" from the 50',s very well executed with the only "kitsch" being the decorations on the walls; will definitely return for more great dishes.
Don’t miss the cannelloni-still thinking about it! We got the appetizer portion. Can’t wait to go back for the entre size!
