Easter Brunch
The cost vs the amount of options was very poor in comparison to past experiences. Some of the food was good, but overall the price paid far exceeded its worth. Very disappointed for out Easter brunch.
Just OK restaurant. Next time in Rapid City, would likely not go back. No one else there. Service and food just OK. A lot of the menu items were not available. Pretending to be more upscale. No outside sign. It is inside the Holiday Inn hotel. There are better choices for restaurants.
The server was very rude throughout the whole dinner. They were obviously very under staffed. We were handed a menu of items they were out of. Which uncles about 15 items. The “vegetables” that came with my overcooked salmon were 2 pieces of asparagus. The potatoes must have been cooked the day before and reheated. Overall terrible experience.
Our waiter was excellent. Unfortunately they were out of most of the entrées; and Soups of the Day; and many sides. That said, the food they were able to prepare and serve was cooked nicely and flavorful.
First we didn’t realize this was in a hotel, should have read a bit more. Place was packed and there was only one server( he was amazing). They had a laminated list of things they were out of, mashed potatoes was on the list????? Food was below average. Very disappointed!
Valentine day had a very nice meal and everyone was very friendly
Service was excellent. Even when we were not expecting one, someone would smile and wish us a good day or happy Thanksgiving. Our tables were routinely cleaned and drinks were always offered. We did not lack service.
We were seated almost immediately and had access to the extensive buffet line.
The food was not worth the $20-25.00 price tag. The ham was salty, the prime rib tough and once cooled tasted greasy, and the turkey very dry. The salads and side dishes were adequate. The mashed potatoes and candied yams were good. Butternut squash soup was better than Wolfgang Puck! Desserts were delicious
I’m pleased I didn’t have to cook and wash dishes. We were looking forward to a better experience.
Hotel needs to put a windbreak at the front door. Cold winds blast into the lobby and dining area.
All of the food on my plate was cold by the time I got back to my table.
Wonderful staff, highly organized. Great food and amazing music!
We ha e enjoyed many visits to the Gold Bison Grill. The holiday buffets are always amazing, and the staff is so friendly. It’s a little more expensive than average for our area, but worth it!
Great food, great selections too. The staff was a bit inattentive but quick to fix anything brought to their attention. The waitress never took our drink order but it wasn't a big deal. If we had really wanted something other than the coffee at the table, we would have been taken care of though. It's a good price for what you get and the menu changes weekly so there's always something new to try.
I made reservations at 6:00 on Open Table to eat a nice dinner here before the Bob Seger concert. It was a surprise for my sister for her birthday! Because I’ve had trouble with reservations at The Grille before, I even called the restaurant to confirm and they said, yes, we have you down for table of 4 at 6:00! When we got there at 5:55, we were not greeted and staff was acting like they were annoyed there was a crowd. When we finally were greeted, I said we had reservations at 6:00. The girl looked at the list for my name and after she found it, she told us it would be at least an hour wait! I asked how this worked when I had a reservation. She said that we shouldn’t have been able to get a reservation on a concert night and it was waitlist only. Either make reservations or don’t... it’s a little late to go eat somewhere else and get back for 7:30 concert. This is such a nice restaurant, with a great menu and ambiance. They need to greet people as if they want us there and also, reservations on a special event night would clear up confusion for patrons and staff on how busy it’s going to be.
Its the best of what is available close by - very busy - wines not very good - but good food and friendly staff
Chislic was shoe leather... wine by the glass was turned... salmon was alright but somewhat boring especially for the price... was in the lobby of the Holiday Inn with an indoor pool... overwhelming odor of Chlorine... server asked if everything was ok 7x in 15mins... made me question if maybe it should not have been... avoid unless you are staying there and don’t feel like driving
French Dip dish had crunchy, overcooked meat. Butterscotch pudding tasted like a vanilla pudding with the pudding smothered in whipped cream which constituted the majority of the dessert. There was only one other table of guests but it took forever for the waitress to visit our table to ask if all was okay, to fill water glasses, and to bring the check. The experience was a dud overall.
What a grand way to celebrate Mother's Day! Every food item on the buffet was perfectly prepared and tasty. Pasta bar, a kids buffet complete with frost their own cookie station, omelets made fresh, desserts that must have been made in heaven, rolls of every kind, and muffins are just a few items. There was no ordinary foods everything was "over the top". Not just Biscuits and Sausage Gravy, they served Biscuits and Chorizo gravy! The perfect mimosa was made. Our server was the best- friendly, helpful, and an eye for details. I know where I'm going for Mother's Day 2020.
We had a party of 12 people and everything was wonderful. Food was fantastic and the people were very friendly.
We were very impressed with the level of organization and overall layout of the venue. Check in staff was friendly and we were even offered a mimosa while waiting in a small line! Our table staff was friendly; however we needed to ask for drink refills. Pet peeve of mine, especially when I noticed server seemed to be texting on the phone. Outside of that small inconvenience it was Brilliant!
My # 1 place to take my family. Great food and excellent service. Thank you
The food and service was excellent. Very friendly and the food was great. Favorite place in rapid city
Visited during restaurant week so value of the meal was great ($20 each). The walleye cake was very good, chicken with mango salsa was delicious and cooked perfect. A few issues, side item of broccoli was cold and well past its usage time - the core was turning brown (did point out to the waitress but requested no exchange) and the dessert was good, seemed like a pudding snack pack with melted sugar on top. My suggestion is to have your staff taste everything you serve - the only item she had tried was dessert.
Great staff and delicious food
We were seated at the furthest back table. My ailing mother had to navigate a conference room full of tables. The ham was good, but the turkey and beef was tough and tasteless. The desserts were terrible and the coffee cups were the smallest I have ever seen.
Our party was shuttled to the lounge due to a disparity in servers. OK with us. Food was great and it was HOTwhich seems rare for us lately!
Loved the prime rib which is lacking at other local brunches. Fabulous, long buffet, all delicious and fresh. Kind service. Only thing I'd change was that there were 8 of us and the table was pushed up again the wall making it hard for people to get in and out to go get more food. Otherwise, perfect.
Thank you so much for giving us an opportunity to serve you and your party. Thank you for the valuable feed back, we have made a note for future/current training of our staff to better arrange a table that fits the guest's needs while maintaining a comfortable setting. Hope to see you again!
Loved everything but the hostess didn’t know how to check in an OpenTable patron, causing us to have to have four exchanges via email with OpenTable to get it resolved.
Great food and great service for a hotel establishment
Friendly staff and good food. Nice atmosphere.
Another great experience. Roland and Linda did a great job taking care of our larger group! Steak was cooked perfectly.
The food was Amazing and a huge variety! Had everything you could think of and more for options. The food was fresh and warm. The service was cheerful, prompt and accommodating! Definitely will go there again!
We stopped at the Gold Bison Grill for date night before we had tickets to the theater. The server Bridget was so attentive and made great recommendations. My husband tried a great local brew they had on tap and I enjoyed a really great Malbec. We both ordered steaks cooked perfectly and with really unique and fun preparations. I had the Au Poivre made with Black pepper Cognac sauce and caramelized onions- holy moses that was good. My husband had Sweet and Spicy Bacon Sirloin with a Honey.cayenne pepper sauce. I liked the ambience and the noise from the waterfall. My only complaint is that we didn't have room to enjoy dessert!! We would go back in a heartbeat and especially since it seemed so kid-friendly too. Even the front desk people waved and wished us a great night on the way out!
This is inside the holiday inn. This is a hidden gem. The food is amazing. And most of the time there’s not enough people for the actual grill to be open. But they serve the same menu in the hotel lounge right next to the grill entrance. More people should come to this place. Food is awesome!
Be careful to check your bill's. They add 18% to the bill for buffet service. They promote free mimosas for Easter brunch included for $24 per plate. Then they charge $7.50 for all you get. They also paid the number of drinks. Actual per person cost was nearly $50. Way to high for buffet service.
When we arrived for our 5:30 reservation we were told that it was a 30 minute wait and they put our name on the bottom of the wait list. Apparently reservations aren't really reservations at the Bison Grille. We decided not to wait and left. A similar thing happened two months ago. When we arrived we were told that they only had two servers and as soon as a table left, we'd be seated. They apparently forgot about us because when a table left, they seated someone who'd arrived after us. We reminded them we were there and that we had a reservation. We then had to wait until another table left- overall about a 30 minute wait. Both of these nights were Saturdays when the Rush were playing. They were obviously very unprepared to handle a busy evening.
This place is amazing!!!! I still cannot stop thinking about our meals they were delicious!!!! Probably the best steaks we’ve ever had. You must try the bacon wrapped shrimp! Great service!!!! We will definitely be back.
The salmon BLT is the best I’ve ever had! Service was spectacular. The restaurant is located in the expansive atrium of the hotel with an 8 story waterfall. We dined in the bar and had great cocktails.
Service was terrible.
Food was marginal at best.
Restaurant had no soup spoons available.
Soup quality was terrible, loaded with pepper, thus unedible.
Waitress never asked how we wanted our meat cooked.
No dessert was offered by the waitress.
Check did not remove the unedible soup from the bill.
Do not go to this restaurant !!!
We had a great time for my Moms 80th birthday at the Golden Bison. Good was great, service great, we all had a fabulous time.
