   We booked evening meal through a Secret Escapes offer. The food was good and the service was efficient. However the breakfast the following morning was very disappointing. I chose poached eggs on toast: one piece of toast with egg and half a tomato. No further toast available. Then I went for some fruit and the two oranges were mouldy and the bananas were black. When I mentioned to the waitress she did remove them but did not replace with any fresh fruit. Very poor selection of breakfast.

   Cancelled our booking without warning. Waited until we arrived to tell us they had a private function from 3pm. Not impressed will not be going back.

   Restaurant almost empty so lacking any kind of atmosphere. Service was however very friendly and efficient and welcoming. Prawns for starter were tasteless. The other meals were OK but nothing to write home about. Felt a bit rushed at the end as we were told that the kitchen shut at 9pm so we had to get pudding orders in asap. Probably would not rush back and get the feeling that the restaurant caters mainly hotel guests.

   Absolutely appalling. What was an incredible restaurant and venue in years gone by us now beyond terrible. Despite it being Sunday lunch there was only one other table booked and one waitress and one barman. The wait for our starters was an hour and then the wait for the mains was another hour. The starters were average at best and the mains (served on cold plates) were utterly unacceptable. We left at this point. I offered to pay for the drinks but the staff were so embarrassed that they wouldn’t let me pay a thing. I don’t blame the staff, they were trying. I blame management. Given the lack of other diners, I don’t think I’m alone with this view.

   No atmosphere. Very disappointing. Will not be returning. Food was tasty but, overall expensive for what it was.

   Couldn’t fault this restaurant, the staff were so friendly and attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely and reasonably priced, cocktails were amazing, and surroundings beautiful. We will be back!

   Very sadly Sanctum has lost its spark. For such an amazing venue, as I've been there many times before, there was just no atmosphere. And even though it was a Saturday night it was empty. Then once we asked for menus, we were told there was no fish of the day, no prawns/shrimps which were in 3 dishes, all rocket would be replaced with watercress and finally the rump steak was withdrawn too. We had ordered single g&ts that came half filled, flat and were rather expensive. So it didn't take long for us to decide not stay for dinner after all. lol in all a very disappointing experience.

   This place looks great, fabulously renovated, the food tastes great & the atmosphere is conducive to a romantic night out, but its such a shame that the overall service does not match... Perhaps this is the inexperience of the chef - he cooks great food, but the entire experience needs to be memorable for all aspects, not just the food. The staff were friendly enough, but scruffy & attention to detail was somewhat lacking - dirty glasses & side-plates, & twice they brought us someone's dinner! I really hope that the team can sharpen up on service, cos then this place would really be worth recommending.
