I am a matchmaker and sent my clients to you for a first date. They LOVED it and raved about the food and service. It was their first visit to your location. They both said they would definitely go back. Thank you for setting the stage for a fabulous evening. I will be sending more clients your way.
I recently have moved the NYC and one thing I’m excited about is the food options! I had heard good reviews about Gnocco and actually was recommended as well by another restaurant owner I was visiting the night before. However, I don’t know if they were having an off night or if the server was new but it was not the best service and the food was alright. We waited approximately 40 minutes to get our appetizer which came before our cocktails. Our cocktails took about 50 minutes to be served. I’m usually a very patient person and have a good understanding regarding restaurant business but this was not acceptable specially since the restaurant was not busy and this could have been avoided if the server had checked on us right after we order. We were told the reasoning behind our order being delayed was because of printing failure even though everyone around us seem to be getting their food and drinks. So since the server didn’t check on us till the first 30 minutes she had to review the order with us again because apparently it did not safe in the device they us to submit order. When she had stopped by at the 30 minute mark before we got the appetizer and drinks I requested if we could please have bread since we had been waiting and looked like our food would take longer to get to us. She forgot the bread. The appetizer we had order was very delicious, consisted of yummy mozzarella, tomato, and bread that sort of tasted/look like naan. For my entree I had order the margherita pizza, I was not impressed with their flavor lack of tomatoes. I will say I should have seen this coming because their menu is very unique and up to date where you can view photos of the meal so it’s a tool I should have used to judge the pizza before ordering. The other plate that was ordered was the calzone #1 which I enjoyed more than the pizza I had order. They had done a good job with the calzone. We also order Taglita Di Manzo and spaghetti carbonara.
THEY CHARGE A 4.0% CREDIT CARD FEE AND DON'T TELL YOU. 4.0% is a ridiculously high fee to charge customers for using a card. More than what any other restaurant charges and they are making a profit from charging 4.0% (credit card companies charge restaurants 2.5%-3.0% to process payments).
The server also suggested certain alcohol with our drinks and did not tell us there was an up-charge (the drinks were so-so, not great). The service overall was not great as the servers took a while to bring water and check on us throughout.
The food was decent (appetizers were good) although my pasta (sausage and broccolini) was pretty bitter tasting and my friends' calzones were underwhelming.
Will not return because mainly for the lack of transparency from the restaurant on CC fee and up-charges on drinks. Plenty of other Italian restaurants in East Village and Manhattan in general to choose from.
Hi Jonathan, We display our cash prices on the menu and if you pay with your CC it will be + 3.99%. We ensure that customers are aware of this policy by sharing it on the first page of the menu, on our website, and with large stickers at the entrance and garden door. Regarding your drinks...your server Cristina mentioned all the liquor options available and everyone in your party wanted Tito's. Our transparency has allowed keeping serving our loyal customers for 20+ years.
Food was alright (pasta was slightly undercooked and had some hard bits in it) but the gnocco and cold cuts were great and the waitress was really friendly.
The entire evening was wonderful. The owners were so kind and patient with us about where we sat, after we realized we were too cold outside. Their kindness was - and always has been - part of what makes dining at Gnocco a delight.
The food was prepared perfectly, and the portions are just right. There’s no question that the ingredients are fresh, guaranteeing a delicious meal. We took the suggested wine pairings and were so pleased with them: they complemented the main courses so well.
I can recommend Gnocco whole heartedly. It was a special event (a birthday), and Gnocco is so well worth going to any day.
I’m there often it’s definitely my fav date spot and the service is always great and the food as well
The pizzas are terrific-I've had them more than once here. I have nothing bad to say about the food.
The service not so great-slow and too often getting drink orders wrong or just not remembering to serve them-had to be asked multiple times.
Excellent service. Friendly and happy. Lovely garden setting. Followed protocols. Pizza excellent but order two!
Birthday lunch for my wife. Some items not available from menu online. This should mentioned on the website. Other than that it was good.
The gnocco app was good and patio was nice. Boozy brunch is a decent deal. Brunch entrees and drinks were okay.
Ur was grrrrrrrrrrr8
Amazing food great atmosphere great staff and service!! I have been going here for years !! My fav place in nyc!!
Amazing menu, the hardest part was deciding what to order. The pizza, amazing. Salmon was great, rice balls, oh, just go there and eat
Thank you for leaving such a nice review! Next time you’re here, you should try our unique specialty - Gnocco Appetizer - homemade deep fried dough with a selection of typical Northern Italian cold cuts.
Food is the main reason I keep coming back. Always delicious.

Delicious Food, great ambiance, and oustanding service from Anastasia - offered companion wine selections, food recommendations and was extremely attentive. This is place to which I will keep returning.

Lovely restaurant in East Village. Food and atmosphere were outstanding. Staff was friendly and attentive. Recommend you try it!
Amazing service, atmosphere, and food.
Thank you for this 5 stars review!
Food delicious and authentic and absolutely amazing and great service!! We had a reservation on a busy Saturday night for dinner and kinda messed up the time and number of people and they still somehow made it happen for us!! My mom was here to visit and they totally made her whole weekend, thank you and always highly recommended!
I really like the atmosphere at Gnocco and the food never disappoints! Great spot to have dinner with friends or for a date - would definitely recommend!
Ciao Lara Thank you so much for this great review! We are glad to hear that you've enjoyed your experience with Gnocco. Next time you and your friends visit us... you should definitely try our Bottomless Brunch :) totally worth it!
Food and service was great. After a while a large (5-6) group was seated next to us and raised the ambient noise level a little higher, but it was overall a good ambiance. It made for a nice date spot.
We are happy to hear you had a great experience here at Gnocco. We hope to welcome you back soon. Next time you visit us you should try our Bottomless Brunch :)
Wonderful staff and lovely atmosphere. Love the food!
Would recommend this restaurant for an intimate gathering or a romantic dinner. The food, the wine, and the customer service exceeded our expectations.
We return to Gnocco for special occasions. The food and service were very good as usual. Found the tables a little too close for comfort. I didn't see anyone disinfecting table tops when patrons left
Literally the most INCREDIBLE meal I have ever had. I have had a lot of vegan food in my life and vegan cheese is never really that good. Texture is always off, flavor is a little weird, and it just hasn't gotten to the great level that vegan meat has achieved. But, I got the vegan truffle pizza at Gnocco and it was so good that I sincerely had to ask them three times to make sure it was the vegan pizza instead of a regular pizza. It was INCREDIBLE. I cannot put into words how tasty it was, how good the cheese was, and how highly I would recommend this restaurant. My friends got the filet mignon and carbonara and also said that the food was impeccable. Definitely check out this restaurant if you want a delicious meal in NY
Lovely outdoor garden. Great spot for brunch or lunch. Nice menu and excellent service. We shared two pastas, the gnocchi and fusilli, which were both delicious.
Always great food with courteous service.
Just wish music was not so loud!
first time visit was for a birthday brunch for my 14-year old daughter and 6 of her friends - the food was excellent as was the service and the wine list, plus the ambience was very cool as well - we met the owner, Pierre Luigi, who was busy installing heaters in the oudoor seating area, and he told us he‘s been in business for 21 years, so he must be doing something right! would definitely recommend the place and plan to return
Excellent authentic Italian and east village ambiance
I was disappointed with this 2nd trip here. My cornish game hen was over cooked and dried out, the fries were soggy. My friend liked her pasta or I would have given this a worse review
Overall the experience was great! The service was great, the interior and patio beautiful, the food was good (left a little to be desired) but overall good and filling!
Great for a large group gathering and food was excellent with a lot of varieties for folks who are vegetarian and vegan, it satisfied the full group and everyone loved what they ate!
Everything about our brunch was amazing, from the food to the drinks to the music. Had a very nice time and am looking forward to coming back soon
Thank you for taking the time to leave this great review! We hope to see you again soon for lunch or dinner. Have a wonderful week! Love, Gnocco.
The burrata special was fantastic! I really loved it!
Grazie mille, Belinda! :) Next time you visit us you should also try our Burrata with pesto sauce, cherry tomatoes and crostini bread on the side, it is amazing!
A lovely quiet rear garden in a classic older brownstone neighborhood across from Tompkins Square Park. Excellent food prepared in the traditional way. Warm hosts and staff. Just a great place to experience New York's diverse and friendly cuisine.
Thanks for appreciating our homemade Northern Italian cuisine, Peter! We believe that our guests in NYC deserve to experience Italy the way we do when we travel back home ♡ we hope to see you again, guys! Cheers, Gnocco.
Love this place. It has a very laidback neighborhood vibe. Food is always excellent and service top notch. Their iPad menu with photos is great. Highly recommend the pizza and the eggplant small plate. Nice selection of wines also.
Thanks you for this lovely review! Next time you visit us you should also try our homemade fresh tagliolini pasta with Black Truffle butter sauce ( Tagliolini al Tartufo Nero) you are going to love it!
Great that they have a vegan menu- this is the future. The salads are large and excellent. The place has a fun vibe.
We proudly are a Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten-free friendly restaurant. There are so many choices in our Vegan Menu that you are going to love, Stacy! Thanks for this wonderful review :)
Great food and good service. Tables are a little tight. Electronic pad menus are not convenient to see full menu options. Noise at a moderate level, not a quiet cozy place. I will go back when in the area and recommend to friends.
Dear Richard! Thanks for taking the time to review your experience with Gnocco. We are very surprised about your feedback regarding our E-Menu. Actually, all our clients love it, because it is very interactive and you can see pictures of everything on the menu. Next time you visit us, your server will be more than happy to assist you and show you all its incredible features . We hope to see you again soon :)
