Glass Onion - Weaverville, NC
This place is great, had graham cracker crusted calamari and wild boar pasta, fresh fettuccine. So good , very affordable too.
Chris was a great waiter, with excellent recommendations. The Wednesday night specials were great, especially the wine! Relaxing & civilized dining. Only flaw was an overcooked dessert, but Chris hanlded promptly.
Relaxing evening, we will return.
We were pleased to find this restaurant in wonderful Weaverville. Everything was so pleasant, the waitress, the menu, the ambience. Weaverville is the kind of small town where it's fun to go. It is always clean, the flower gardens are well kept and parking is free. It makes you feel welcome.
Glass Onion is one of our favorite restaurants. We usually share our selections. We started with the truffle fries-delicious and large quantity. Then we shared the tomato and mozzarella salad from the specials. Also delicious. We shared the pork chop with mashed potatoes. The pork chop was plenty big and thick for the two of us and was so juicy! All of it was outstanding. We finished with the almond cake, which was amazing (I will confess, though, we prefer the creme brûlée). Our server was wonderful. We will be back.
It could not of been a more perfect pre-birthday dinner experience! The Italian dishes rivaled those that I recently had in Italy and the service was impeccable! I look forward to dining here again on my next visit!
Surprisingly small portions for appetizers with large price tag. The food is always good and well prepared. Good options for vegetarians.
We loved our server. Beautiful trim brunette woman. Wish I would have asked her name. She made our night! The food is very well crafted but a little fancy for our average pallets. It was a wonderful evening and I would recommend it to foodies and the like 💛👍🏽💛
Great place, good food, generally quiet. Only two things that I could offer. When half the place is empty, I wish they would seat us apart and not on top of each other. Too close and it could have been mitigated had the put some folks on other side so we weren't so close at the same time. Takes away from the ambience in my opinion and will be a consideration next time I book. Second item and it may be just me but I had swordfish which was very good, but recently, I went to a chain seafood place of a higher stature and they served swordfish differently and I think it was better than here at Glass Onion if you can believe it. What they did is not have a long filet but a short thicker filet---like a filet mignon shape and I think it made it more moist and of course sauce helped alot. But if I were to be so bold and make a suggestion, make it like BF did. Same amount, just different presentation and I think much better.
We came for our anniversary dinner. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. Wonderful, casual atmosphere.
My out of town guests and I were very pleasantly surprised at the sophisticated menu and wine list. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. We had the special swordfish and it was delicious. Our cocktails and wine exceeded expectations.
Our first visit could not have been any better, the food, service and ambiance were wonderful.
We will definitely come back!
Not actually a hidden gem, but it is outside of Asheville and worth the drive. the service and staff is excellent. One of the owners met us at the door and brought to our front street facing window seat. Our waitress, Nicole, took care of every need and never missed a beat. the rest of the staff was ready for any occurrence.
Quiet bar looks very inviting for a drink and their wine list is quite good. We had the Cabernet and it was perfect for our meals.
We started with the Graham Cracker Crusted Calamari. excellent with their red sauce. My wife had the trout and I had the Spinach pasta and Veal Bolognese. Both were perfectly cooked. the Creme Brûlée dessert was great!
Brunch was excellent! The spinach and feta omelette is my favorite. Server was Allie and she did a great job. Food and service are consistently great. We dine frequently at Glass Onion. It’s better than any of the restaurants in Asheville
I love this Quaint little restaurant in Weaverville. The food is absolutely amazing. Very fresh and homemade.
I love the Sunday brunch! Particularly the roast beef hash with poached eggs and incredible Hollandaise sauce!
What a pleasant surprise, we had great food with attentive but not intrusive service. This restaurant can compete with most any In Asheville. We’d recommend it to anyone looking to eat in this area.
Exceptional, pasta a little too salty
This is a great spot. Small, nice ambiance, excellent service and food preparation.
We had a busy day driving and antiquing; your restaurant was a perfect ending - great food, service, ambience...everything!
Great local northern Italian restaurant. Excellent wine selection at reasonable prices.
Our dinner for my friend's birthday was excellent. We were disappointed in the crispy potatoes. They didn't seem to be "smashed" or as crispy and usual, still delicious but not quite so much as in the past. The salmon with the onion "jam" was superb, as was my pasta dish. We definitely will return, although saving it for special occasions because of the cost.
my wife and i both ordered the ameratriciana and we both thought it was bland which was a disappointment.
Again, the food was very good and the service was excellent. We keep going back and are glad.
excellent food, however, restaurant was quite noisy.
Always good. Never disappointed
we had a party of 9 to celebrate a big birthday. everyone loved the food and commented that the service was terrific. always get the almond cake!!!
Dinner - mouth watering. Wine choices: 2.5 out of 5 - would be nice to have more to choose from., Desert - was ok: have had better Tiramasu - never had this w/ the amaretto/almond flavoring - might want to let patrons aware of this either mentioning verbally or w/in the menu. Atmosphere/surroundings are fine - but something about the 'feel' is not so welcoming -a bit snooty for what it is. Might be back, might not...
Great meal for all four of us.....superb!
I eat often at Glass Onion and am always pleased. I don’t know what was wrong yesterday - understaffed is my guess - but it was a nightmare. Received water quickly but took another 20 minutes for server to return. In her defense she was the only server. After she took our order it was 45 minutes for a bowl of soup and one salad, 2 sandwiches to be served and then my salad was dressed incorrectly. The food was good but they must have been short-staffed in the kitchen. Very disappointing lunch.
Great service; delicious food
The food was excellent. I would recommend it
Excellent food and service. Scallops were wonderful. Highly recommend.
Visit the Glaas Onion when you want a welcoming atmosphere, enough quiet that you can carry on a conversation, and enough energy to encourage fun. The food is carefully prepared and there are unique pairings of main selections and sides. This is the place to take visitors, friends, and family!
Food as always outstanding. Presentation excellent. Service outstanding as usual. One of my favorite restaurants. Superior
Outstanding as always! My husband and I love having out date nights here. Its just a sweet, intimate dinner for two. It's also a great place for a large group. It's a must try eatery in Weaverville, NC!
We keep returning, and have never had a meal that was anything other than excellent. If you like Scallops, don't miss the Glass Onion's- the chef does these as well as anyone anywhere.
Outstanding food and service!! We go there for all of our birthdays, anniversaries any special occasions basically any reason to go. Best place in Weaverville and probably one of the best places in all of Asheville!
I like the food i would recommend it
Had a wonderful meal at the Glass Onion! Scallops cooked to perfection! Always enjoy it there!!
