The food was outstanding. We sat outside and there was quite a bit of street noise, but that's no fault of the restaurant. It was a birthday celebration and the coconut cake and candle finished off a very nice evening. The service could have been a little better such as removing empty glasses. I know it is difficult to have enough staff, so I don't fault them too much. I will return again and again!
Even though we made a reservation ahead of time, we were originally given a table very close to the entrance where people coming in would hover over us. Fortunately, the hostess saw that we were unhappy so she found us a table to the side that was perfect. Our waiter was Stanley and he was great in every aspect. One at our table asked for a protein to be served in his salad which was not accommodated, but was understood. All in all, a wonderful place that we greatly enjoyed. But may be better off eliminating one or two tables to allow for comfortable dining. Highly recommend.
I eat all over Asheville and the surrounding area. I’m always looking for a good new place and the Glass Onion far exceeded my expectations. Excellent food, service and wine selection. I took my Mother for her birthday and they made it a special evening.
as always, everything was wonderful. nicely paced meal, very enjoyable
Muy buena la comida fresca
Glass Onion NEVER disappoints! With this visit, we were going to sit outside but because of the rain, they were able to sit us at the bar. The place was crowded but not inconvenienced at all. But the staff handled everything calmly and efficiently. And the bartender, Sage, who waited on us, was excellent! Great personality, beautiful smile, made a great Manhattan, and just could not be any nicer. And the food was delicious as always. My wife had the trout and I had the salmon. Both were outstanding! And of course their classic garlic rolls were scrumptious! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a fine meal with the perfect staff. Bravo!
Ate outside. Stanley was awesome and we had a great evening! A nice way to have a great meal and get away from the Asheville crowds (but only 15 minutes away). Eggplant Rollentini with the homemade fettuccine is a must!
Outstanding menu quality including wild game dishes. Great service as well. It is not cheap but reasonable for what you get. We had 2 children aged 9 and 3, they gave us a corner booth with cushioned seats where we could keep them corralled so as not to disturb other customers. Would definitely like to come back next time we are in the Asheville (Weaverville) area.
every time we come we bring different friends and they fall in love with it too!! it's terrific and want to thank y'all for coming to NC! Madge sutcliffe
The Glass Onion is a gem in Weaverville. A bit noisy, but not overwhelming. Our party of four all ordered different entrees, and all were very pleased!
We’ve been to the Glass Onion a number of times and are always happy with the food and service! Very consistent and always delicious. The deserts are exceptional.
We always like going to The Glass Onion in Weaverville. It is close by and parking is OK. The interior has been upgraded and is quite lovely. The food is not always what you axpect. It is better than you expect.
Since Covid we have been out to eat numerous times. Often we have been greeted by signs or verbally about staffing issues and limited menus. While I know this is an issue nothing like this happen at the Glass Onion. We were greeted nicely and seated. The menu reflected a preCovid menu. There were additions and some deletions as one would expect over an 18 month period. The restaurant was full. Service was excellent throughout the evening. The food was some excellent. My wife had the Gnocchi Primavera which she described as a flavor explosion in her mouth. I tried a taste of the remains (no Gnocchi) and she was right. The Angel hair pasta with shrimp was perfectly seasoned. As always the wine list had many good candidates and has some high end additions. Anyone can find a good wine to get with their meal.
Highly recommend this superb restaurant. It was great to see a full restaurant functioning normally. The owners are doing an excellent job as is the staff.
Sub par food for a premium price.
All was great. One suggestion is to add additional vegetarian options to the menu.
Food was very good but choices were limited. Portions were nice and tasty.
The staff was very warm yet totally professional. Food was outstanding. Our party had fresh fish, steak and pasta; each dish was beautifully prepared and presented. We can't wait to go back!
Nice way to meet up with friends. Beet salad was not as I recall, mixed with feta. Swordfish was yummy, fairly small portion. Ali, our server was cheery and efficient.
We were early. Given small table which proved to be too small
Service was polite but seemed rushed…guess to second seat the table?
Food good as always. Like to see more appetizer selections.
Great food and service. The fresh fettuccine with braised rabbit is awesome.
I have eaten at Glass Onion many times over the years--and I have always felt that the restaurant set a high standard of creative excellence. This is the first time I have been back since the Covid 19 restrictions have been moderated, and I was so please that the restaurant has weathered the challenges and continues to be exemplary.
Small but thoughtful menu. Food and presentation excellent. Our table for 2 was quite small and to close to a girls night table for 5 so it wasn’t as quiet as we’d like. All in all a very nice evening. Service was attentive without being rushed.
Excellent service from Sage and the food was amazing. The calamari was cooked just right and was perfectly tender and tasty. Nice Caesar salad and the salmon and wild boar bolognese were very tasty and beautifully presented. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. Very nice and reasonably priced wine as well.
the waitstaff did not wear masks and it was very noisy.
Nice little place with amazing food! Reservations recommended!
Wonderful restaurant - one of our favorites for special occasions.
Our first visit, atmosphere was not what we where expecting from website but ok. When to celebrate a birthday. Lots of fun. Our waitress was exceptional. Would go again.
our party of 4 were seated at a round table, which kept us a distant from each other. Next to us was a party of +- 10-12 young men who were very loud. We strained to hear each other. I like to visit Glass Onion and plan to eat there in future. Next time I'll voice a few stipulations when I make my reservation or before I am seated. Good food, good service, horrible experience.
Finally, a place that got it right and maintained upscale dining during the pandemic. My partner and I tried some favorites around Asheville and were sorely disappointed. Glass Onion did not disappoint. My boyfriend tried the swordfish he misses from the Mediterranean. I rarely hear him compliment a meal, but he was impressed with the flavor snd presentation. The Scottish salmon I had was perfection. The wait staff is attentive and properly trained and you can tell the owners have thought about every detail. Thank you for providing a meal and experience that was worth every penny!!
Excellent food and extensive wine list. I will definitely go back.
Had a delicious meal. The calamari was excellently prepared, our main course dinners, where very tasty and the coconut cake was moist and just all around perfect.
The coconut cake was great. They served a lavender drink which was so good, I felt like I was at a spa.
True local special place. Natalie (owner) works there as hostess and manager most days.
They made it through the Covid tough times. We hope this is the prosperous year ever for her and her team! One of our best local restaurants.
One of our favorite place to eat. Always great food and service.
Always dependable good all around, Service food and people
Food was excellent we will go back frequently
Great food and great drinks. Wonderful setup outside. Everything was top notch with none of the Asheville traffic!
We enjoyed the ambiance and our fabulous server at the Glass Onion. The food, however was disappointing. I know the lingering effects of Covid make running a restaurant challenging, and I hope this is just a temporary set back.
The interior is very charming and the entire staff were pleasant. Our waitress was excellent--efficient and friendly. Food was fantastic. There were 5 of us and we had 4 different pasta dishes. Reasonably priced. We are new to the area and will be going back.
