Consistantly delicious and comfortable atmosphere. Staff is friendly and accommodating.
This was my first visit to Glass Onion and to Weaverville, NC. Based on the reviews, I would agree that the food was very good. We are vegetarians and the chef graciously modified some dishes for us. There were two things that would keep us from going back to the Glass Onion. First, the wait staff is NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE about the menu. Every time we asked for a clarification or explanation of a dish, the server could not answer the question and had to seek help to answer out questions. I'm from a fine dining restaurant background and EVERY SERVER knows the dishes and how they are prepared. For the level and price of this restaurant, I don't expect to have an order taker come to my table.
Second. This restaurant HAND WRITES your bill! No Point of Sale system. In this day and age that is excusable and made me question if the server/establishment was good at math!
If the Glass Onion can remedy these two issue, I'd give them a 5 all day long.
great meal. one of our favorite places. good value.
Excellent food and service. Never disappoints.
Everything was great! Food was excellent, service was excellent!
First time eating here and was not disappointed. The eggplant Parmesan was delicious
Always a great experience. Attentive staff, excellent food and atmosphere
Always very good!
An outstanding dinner in a lovely setting. The a Glass Onion is definitely one of the finest restaurants in the Asheville area.
Nice ambiance and diverse menu with good wine selection. The pear-beet salad and homemade bread is to die for. A gem in weaverville, nc.
It is an intimate, quiet, pleasant environment, perfect for sharing conversation. The food is good quality, but not adventurous.
Excellent service. Late lunch on. Friday and not too busy. Very good wine selection. Pumpkin Ravi and truffle fries were great. Good burger and Caesar salad.
Vacationing in area
We love this place, especially on half-price bottles of wine Wednesdays! It feels like the cozy neighborhood
place it is, with friendly staff, good Italian comfort food, and that easy Weaverville parking across the street. Don't miss the coconut cake.
Had another great diner with friends at the Glass Onion. Very consistent with good food and service.
Fabulous food. Fresh squeezed orange juice.
Eggs Benedict were just the way I like and Pete was delighted with his hash. Pricey (+$40 for breakfast) but worth it as a special treat.
Wonderfully friendly service, Ali was knowledgeable about the menu and made the experience fun. Food was presented beautifully and tasted even better!
First time to Glass Onion...awesome place. Great atmosphere...a little noisy but easy to have table conversation. Arrived a few minutes before our reservation and was seated immediately. Service was quick and knowledgeable and the food was great. The wild boar bolognese was awesome and my wife enjoyed their pork chop special that night. Overall a great place to enjoy a meal. We'll be back.
The service and food were equally incredible! I would totally recommend this to anyone looking to celebrate a romantic occasion or just enjoy a great meal!
Best pasta in the Asheville area. The ingredients are top quality and the chef know how to do everything simply but to perfection. The pasta is deliciously al dente and the sauses are delicious. I especially love the wild boar bolognese and their delicious garlic rolls. The atmosphere is "cushioned bistro" with well controlled noise level. The whole experience is relaxing and delicious. Highly recommended. Also Wednesday night all the regular pastas are $15 with half price on a bottle of wine.
Nice evening. Food was good. Server was very nice and professional.
Food was sophisticated and delicious!! The the starting bread with garlic butter WOW.
Very pleasant restaurant, excellent food and service.
Good attentive service; food a bit unimaginative but solid fare.
As Always, delicious food and excellent service. Have dined here many times and have never been disappointed.
The Glass Onion exceeded our expectations in every area! We’ve already recommended this restaurant to several friends in Asheville. Treat yourself to an amazing dining experience in a charming town.
The folks that run this restaurant are pleasant and helpful. The food is incredibly fresh, delicious and creative.
We were staying at the Dry Ridge Inn prior to attending a presentation on "Murder Ballads" at Mars Hill University. We had heard of the Glass Onion and we were not disappointed. The menu was impressive, and our food was excellent. Good selection of wines. The salads featured local greens etc. We talked to the friendly people at an adjacent table and learned that they were regulars at the restaurant. The locals are very pleased to have such a first class restaurant in their little town.
You do not want to miss a visit to the Dry Ridge Inn and the Glass Onion Restaurant.
Went for brunch food was OK, nothing great, not terrible.
We booked because of the great reviews on line, and we were not disappointed! Authentic Italian food, hard to find in our area. The house made raviolis were made with pumpkin in a walnut cream sauce, makes my mouth water just thinking about how wonderful they were! We will definitely be back!
The service was good and we liked the bread and salads but the Bolognese was watery and lacked flavor. It was our only disappointing meal on our trip to Asheville.
It was the first time dining at Glass Onion for my party of four. It was a birthday dinner so I asked for a back corner table and their best server. We arrived a little early and were quickly seated - at a wonderful table in the corner near the kitchen. Our server was Allie (extremely friendly, accommodating and attentive) Started with Calamari - very good and we all enjoyed it. We all tried different dishes, the angel hair pasta & shrimp, Wild Boar Bolognese, salmon and then one of the evening specials, horseradish gnocchi with braised short ribs and a side of braised swiss chard. Everything was excellently presented and delicious. We then celebrated the birthday with blueberry crumb, coconut cake, creme' brulee, and Julia Child's warm brownie. Wonderful dinner with wonderful friends. None of us were disappointed at all - it is a trek for us to come - we live in Flat Rock - but it was worth it and I would definitely say we will return to try the lunch and brunch menus. Thank you for making my friend's birthday special. The only complaint I have is - we didn't have enough of that wonderful bread!!! We needed it to sop up all of the fabulous sauces and gravies.
Love this restaurant.
Wish they had vegan option.
Food is consistently good
Should keep their chocolate sorbet permanently
on the menu. It is the BEST!
One of our first favorite restaurants! Superb service, excellent food, inviting wine list. Glass Onion is a decided winner.
Great restaurant for us locals! Always bring my visitors here.
Consistently delicious menu served by pleasant staff always makes for an enjoyable afternoon or evening in this friendly town convenient to Asheville.
Great food and service. Easy parking... what's not to love!
Great food, service!
The Glass Onion is our favorite place behind Limones in terms of eating high quality food out. Their menu delivers some fantastic meals and we always love the garlic rolls...yum! I had the Wild Boar Bolognese again tonight, which is my favorite there. You can't go wrong with just about every other menu choice, but they do italian very well. Their cuts of beef and seafood are always excellent too. We always enjoy their desserts too, several great choices including the best Tiramisu I've ever had. The coconut cake is a big winner too.
