Glass Onion - Weaverville, NC
As always, wonderful in every way. Food was fantastic but also the atmosphere was great and the staff was good and the welcoming from the co-owner who helms the front of the house was terrific. Food was wonderful. Salad and pork chop and scallop entrees were terrific. Wine was really nice to go with. Dessert was delicious. Honestly, you cannot go wrong dining here. Just love it.
Wonderful selection of wines by the glass. Nice place for a quiet meal featuring fresh ingredients.
We eat here frequently and it’s always excellent. Great service and excellent food
We had a phenomenal dinner and the service was excellent. It's great to have such a wonderful restaurant right here in Weaverville.
Outstsnding all around. Wait staff exvellent. Cocktails made the way ordered. If you are looking for an upscale place to dine go to this wonderful eatery!
We had a wonderful dinner!!! I get in at least once a month for lunch. Eggplant parmigiana remains my very favorite.
Had an outstanding dinner at Glass Onion. This is a real gem and one of my most favorite restaurants in the Asheville area. The calamari appetizer is wonderful. The pasta dishes are excellent and the same can be said for meat or fish entrees as well. It is a charming restaurant and I always enjoy it.
Food was prepared perfectly and the service by Jade was outstanding.
Glass Onion is one of my faves.
This lunch visit I ordered eggplant Parmesan. I got two little rounds of breaded eggplant with cheese and sauce over a huge amount of angel hair. Was expecting much more eggplant with a small side of pasta.
The eggplant wasn’t great.
I will continue to eat here unless I find that the food is not great. One bad meal happens. Besides, it was edible, just not up to their usual standards.
Parking in Weaverville continues to be awful. It’s getting more like downtown Asheville every day.
I hope the repairs to the lot finish soon. So many spots unavailable.
As always, great food with very good service in a nice and comfortable setting! Without a doubt one of our go to places in the Asheville area. .
We love The Glass Onion. This dinner happened to be a special occasion, but we go when we just want great food and a nice ambiance.
The real celebration is on the plate!
Try it and see.
The food is pretty good but for the prices we really wanted to be thoroughly impressed and were not. The value just wasn’t there.
Yes! The food is, without a doubt, some of the best near Asheville. The service is outstanding. I have always enjoyed our evenings there. The only thing is that I wish they would limit tables to eight and have only one or two tables for eight available. The noise level can be distracting at peak times. Other than that, I cannot think of a better dining experience.
PS - You are really missing out if you don't get the fried calamari as an appetizer and creme brulee for desert. 😍
Simply fantastic experience. The food was outstanding as well as the service. Perfect for a quiet dinner or a special occasion.
Great food, great service, reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
We make sure we eat at The Glass Onion on each trip to NC. This year, we had dinner here on the day we arrived and again on our last night. The food is delicious and atmosphere warm and comfortable. The perfect beginning and ending to our vacation.
First time visitor. Great food, great service, easy parking, fun time.
Always reliable and delicious. I wld highly recommend it, but Id really miss being able to get a table at the last minuter if it becomes wildly popular!
Have been going to The Glass Onion since they opened; they were wonderful then and even better now. Service is dependably great, seem to intuit when you want something - never hovering. Dinner was delightful-all had seafood, my was the SC swordfish, divine. Killer desserts. Lovely folks there insure a pleasant lunch or dinner.
I always love going to the Glass Onion. The service was good and my ravioli was just a little off this trip. My wife had a salad with the salmon and it was great. Mother's Day was very busy and that impacted our dining experience . Overall it was good and we look forward to a return visit.
We had heard great things about the Glass Onion, so we went with a party of 7 for Mother's Day Brunch. Quaint, relatively small place in downtown Weaverville. Could not have been more pleased with the entire experience....service, food and atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone for a wonderful brunch. We will be trying for dinner soon.
I love this place generally. This last time I asked for something without the bacon (I don't eat red meat), and the waitress said she would have to check as they don't allow substitutions, and I told her it is not a substitution (leaving something off, and charging me the same)...so it was ok. But I had never heard this substitution rule before and it will probably make me come less often (especially because they put goat cheese on everything, which I hate...so if I asked for blue cheese instead my guess is they would now say no). Proprietors of the service industry forget that most are paying for the service, so if it is too much trouble for them then it is too much trouble for me to go out of the way and spend my money there. That said, they usually have really good food including on Thanksgiving.
Our third time there was very enjoyable and we expect we will be returning. Very tasty linguine and clams and the grilled swordfish special was excellent.
This place is beautifully decorated and has amazing food. They were able to accommodate my dietary needs without having to totally change dishes. The waitress was very attentive to our table and you felt like family.
Great food every time, great service and warm friendly ambience. Love this place and highly recommend!
We enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the Glass Onion. It was our second time there and will definitely return next time we are in town. The salmon was so delicious and our waiter, Stanley, was so helpful.
We were there to celebrate my husbands birthday. There were a lot of tables open, and they sat another party right next to us when there were plenty of open tables. One entree we had was special swordfish and it was very bland. Overall for the experience was disappointing.
Met my husband for lunch on my birthday.
This is our go to place when we want a nice meal.
The house made fettuccine was amazing! The cream sauce with the chicken and sausage was very well balanced and the coconut cake was the best I’ve ever tasted.
We had a spur of the moment dinner and were able to get reservations with no problems. Our server was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The ambiance was nice, and it was a relaxing, quiet setting. I cannot stress enough how much we appreciated being able to talk without straining to hear each other! The menu was interesting and had many gluten-free options for those who are gluten sensitive. The food itself was fine, but not appropriately priced for the quality and flavor. We did not try dessert, but they had a nice mix of options.
Excellent dining experience. Great food/menu and courteous service.
we have dined here a few times before over the years, and just as good as the first time! our server was wonderful, she was so pleasant and made the evening feel relaxed, even though the restaurant was full. also appreciate the gf pasta option for my husband.
Three couples went to Glass Onion, and all said the food quality was outstanding.
Proper Service lacked for the checks. We assumed it would be 3 separate checks, but in fairness we did not request it and server did not ask - seems splitting is customary particularly when its clearly several couples. Server brought back split checks but in the form of 2 items each - food and drink. When someone asked how do we know it’s correct, server said “it’s on the master“. The Master did show every order by seat number, but individual checks used different numbers. Two checks were incorrect. When Credit cards were returned, the proper amounts were charged, but the cards were not in the correct folders. Unfortunate way to finish a great meal.
This was our second very disappointing visit within a month. The steak size seems to be getting smaller and smaller, my lamb rack was totally tasteless last time as was the pork chop this time. I specifically told the server to be sure the pork was not overcooked but that's how it arrived and it was totally plain and tasteless. No point in going out for this; could have prepared it better at home. Also, one of our friends is vegetarian and there were very limited options. She inquired about some pasta with tomato sauce but was told that would be $20; quite insane for basically a side dish. The calamari remains delicious as do the desserts.
Glass Onion never disappoints. Once again, outstanding food and service. A favorite in Weaverville.
The Glass Onion is a delightful restaurant. The menu is excellent and there are many organic selections. We had a party of 6 for brunch and everyone raved about their meals. I highly recommend this wonderful spot.
Had a great meal. Service was good. Staff was friendly. Loved the atmosphere.
Under staffed. I ordered the special eggs Florentine and there was so much excess water I needed to drain it on another plate. Service was significantly absent.
I have had dinner there and enjoyed it - but can not recommend brunch.
We make it a point to visit Glass Onion for dinner every time we are in Asheville or Weaverville. Food is always fantastic, the wine and cocktails are very good, and service is excellent.
