Gjelina is a restaurant that serves locally-sourced, produce-forward food with menus guided by conversations and long-standing relationships with farmers, local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops. Our first location Gjelina LA in Venice Beach opened in 2008 becoming a staple in the local community. We are currently open for lunch, brunch, and dinner services.

We booked very last minute on a Tuesday night, sat at the bar, got excellent service by Matt who heads up the drink program and had an excellent experience all around! We are long time fans of Gjelina in LA and very happy they came to NYC!

Great lunch—only edged down by its legendary Santa Monica sister location. Having visited the original Gjelina in Santa Monica many times, I was thrilled to try their New York outpost. While it’s not fair to compare the two—each play to very different regional strengths in produce, climate, and sourcing—I can’t help but do so. Gjelina West Coast has long been revered for elevating vegetables and seasonal ingredients to center stage. That said, the NYC location succeeded brilliantly on its own turf. I had a wonderful lunch—everything tasted fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully composed. The service was spot-on, too, with attentive staff who complemented the experience perfectly. If I were grading solely on its own merits, this would be an easy five-star lunch. But given the almost mythic standard set by the Santa Monica original—especially with its unbeatable produce-driven brightness—I settled on four stars. Highly recommended for anyone craving elegantly prepared, vegetable-driven cuisine with polished service and relaxed vibes.

Great bartender and staff, however, some dishes were a miss. Burrata and prosciutto were great but the fusilli pesto pasta and mixed mushroom pizza fell flat. Both needed more sauce and flavor. We also had the squash which was nothing special either.

Meh. Service was bad. Tried to seat us at waiter station. Server was unhelpful with vegan options which is odd for a farm to table restaurant.
