Gjelina is a restaurant that serves locally-sourced, produce-forward food with menus guided by conversations and long-standing relationships with farmers, local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops. Our first location Gjelina LA in Venice Beach opened in 2008 becoming a staple in the local community. We are currently open for lunch, brunch, and dinner services.

Meh. Service was bad. Tried to seat us at waiter station. Server was unhelpful with vegan options which is odd for a farm to table restaurant.

Burrata and peaches were great as was the maple bacon. Pizza was also delicious. Duck hash was good but least favorite of the 4.

Good food and ambience, but a bit snobby. They wouldn’t let us order appetizers while we chose our main meal because they said we had to order all the courses at once, and they wouldn’t make a simple substitution when we asked not to have garlic sprinkled on top of one of the courses.

The service and experience at Gjelina NY was superb. We sampled almost half of the menu with the assortment of vegetable options prepared expertly in so many different ways. Our favorites were their elevated versions of sunchokes, Japanese eggplant with tahini, and cauliflower. The pizzas prepared with potatoes and assorted mushrooms were just amazing. The wine list had a fantastic selection and bright options that went well with our choices at lunch. I can’t wait to come back for the dinner options.

It took almost an hour to get our food and when it arrived it was cold. This was my second time eating here and both times there was confusion with my order. Luckily this time our waitress kindly comped a portion of the meal, but unfortunately this seems to be a pattern here. Food is not worth the service.

Drinks took a long time, even the bottle of wine, which the server seemed to forget we had. Food was excellent, as was the cocktail. Super loud in the restaurant, though. Not a place to go if you actually want to talk to the person across from you.
