Gjelina is a restaurant that serves locally-sourced, produce-forward food with menus guided by conversations and long-standing relationships with farmers, local ranchers, fishermen, and co-ops. Our first location Gjelina LA in Venice Beach opened in 2008 becoming a staple in the local community. We are currently open for lunch, brunch, and dinner services.

Think labneh on toast with grape jam and sea salt, pizzas topped with confit tomatoes and smoked mozzarella, and salads studded with burrata and honeynut squash. Enjoy it all with a classic cocktail or a glass of wine in the bright bi-level space done up in light woods.

    They still have some kinks to work out. Some of the dishes were good, but others were borderline inedible. The service started off overly attentive, but we were eventually forgotten. They did remove the cod from our bill, which we appreciated; it was completely inedible. It didn’t even taste like cod, and on top of that, it was severely overcooked. The atmosphere and design were well done,loud, but with a vibe that felt very L’Artusi. That said, I prefer the Venice location. I don’t feel a need to return to this one. The menu reminded me of ABC Kitchen, but ABC executes it much better.

    Everything was absolutely delicious from the simple green salad to the grilled mushroom with tarragon butter, conehead cabbage, softshell crab, and the saffron spaghetti as well as the brown sugar cake dessert. Also, the drinks were excellent—my friends’s gruner, and my orange wine! We reserved bar seats and Lawrence took great care of us! We loved it so much and I’ll definitely be back soon!

    Overall experience was fine. The food was fabulous. Everything else was kind of bizarre/off a bit. The host was not warm at all (gave bizarre instruction on where to wait until our entire party arrived to be seated, and then got overwhelmed needing to sit 3 tables at once so it took 10 minutes to be seated?), service was strange, and we were seated in a room with 2 very large (10+) parties so it was SO loud. I would describe the noise level as LOUD, not “energetic”. The food was truly great and I’d go back if someone wanted to try it, but not rushing back.

    Took my mom for brunch and sat at the bar. Really enjoyed my crispy eggs and mushrooms and my mom had the frittata. Service was excellent at the bar and the restaurant interior is beautiful.

    10/10 experience. Thrilled to have Gjelina in NY after many visits at the LA location over the years. From the food to the service and ambiance, everything was amazing and we can't wait to return. Their fermented sourdough pizzas are NOT to be missed and rank with the highest rated pizzas in NYC. The food is fresh and delicious with that seasonal touch. A new NYC Fav!

    Food was well seasoned and delicious. Spritz wasn’t great and came in a rocks glass. Service was sparse - after per original server took the order, we didn’t see her again. Which is fine but the new server (who struggled to drop the pizza onto the table and asked us if we could consolidate our appetizers to make space for her) did not quality check us. We both wanted another beverage but were not asked and didn’t have the chance to as no one touched the table. We asked a support staff member for the check. We paid with empty plates by on the table. I don’t exist to pay these prices while being thirsty and have a cluttered table while tipping for service.

    We had a large group for lunch that was a cousins reunion, and we’re given the round table up front. We really enjoyed our meal and the vibe of the restaurant. The wait staff was nice and friendly.
