In order of best down; cocktails were tops and no surprise as they have landed some great bartenders, Dan Hamm being excellent. Food, done well, we focused on small plates and appreciated the meatballs, artichokes, and scampi. The space is fun, so big and we had enough room so our neighbor tables were not on top of us. Wine, we had two Italian wines by the glass and I would say great for drinking with food but not something you would drink alone. We will be back!
We didn’t like the spaghetti with gravy or the artichoke appetizer.
Loved the atmosphere although it was noisy.
Beautiful venue. Great drinks. My dinner companion finished his entree before mine arrived. They brought over some meatballs to help while I waited but not really what I was looking for.
Very mob-chic and creative atmosphere. Food was superb. Will definitely be back.
Service was good and the space is beautiful but the Food was just ok. The crab and spaghetti was messy. Trying to crack a crab leg covered in marinara sauce was a little difficult.
Very classic atmosphere. Great service and food!
Unbelievable showcase of Italian cuisine. You could go here so so many times and not try it all. I personally will attempt to try it all and will go many MANY times. A new treasure in center city!!! Unbelievably great. Great drinks too!!!
I enjoyed the food and especially the ambiance at Guiseppe & Sons. The service was a little bit off, however I know they just recently opened. Our waitress told us she HAD to put all of the food we wanted in at once, and it felt like we were inconveniencing her by requesting an appetizer and more time to decide on entrees. However, the food is great and it is a really cool spot. I will definitely return.
Surprising disappointed! Love their other restaurants. Great concept, but food very mediocre.
We had a wonderful experience! The service was fast and efficient, and our main server was lovely and very funny. The food came out at a great pace, and each dish was excellent. Very authentic, just what we were looking for. And, the desserts were so delicious. It was a little dark, and I noticed that a lot of people were using their phone flashlights, but I understand that it totally sets the mood. I can not wait to return, and I wish them much success.
Wonderful service from Kyle. Food was excellent and the ambiance is great for couples or larger parties. Definitely going back. Hard to believe they’ve been open less than 2 weeks
This was one dinner in which everything was on a consistently high level - no weak points.
excellent food !!!
very attentive waitress and staff.
scampi and chicken parm were BEYOND.
cannoli was PERFECT.
can’t wait to go back and sit at the bar.
Everything about my birthday dinner here with 10 family members was amazing. Everyone is still talking about how beautifully done the restaurant is and how awesome the food was. Can’t wait to go back.
Great service and a South Philly feel in Center City.
Just opened a few weeks ago and already busy. Went there before a concert and it was quite good. Beautiful room downstairs. Service good and food was quite tasty! Husband had the gnocchi pomodoro and I had the chicken Marsala, Excellent!! And of course, the cannoli!! Great value. We’ll go back!
The server described entree and sides as large and meant to be shared which was overstated. That is why the four not five star rating. Food and drinks were worthy of a five star rating if not for the size of potions.
From beginning to the end this group gets it.
Service. Ambiance. Drinks. Amazing food.
Keep doing what you are doing.
We were very excited to try out this new restaurant and knew going in that reviews have been mixed. However, the service and food ended up even worse than our tamed expectations. It took almost 20 minutes to get a first drink order, we put in an appetizer order and about 10 minutes later the server came back for our entrees and then told us that the chef likes the full order to be taken at once - should have mentioned this when we put in our first order. I would highly recommend sharing items as the entrees don't come with any vegetables or garnishes really. Overall the food was overly salted and below our expectations. Many times there was misunderstandings between our server and management which caused them to literally argue in front of our table. The server brought the wrong entree for my fiance and didn't offer to switch for the correct and didn't take any $ of our bill. We were also charged incorrectly for the meal total, so all in all everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong and the food quality just wasn't there to make the night any better. I would highly recommend you wait a few months before you waste your money on an expensive restaurant thats quality is not there yet.
My wife and I had a solid meal here last Thursday. We split three appetizers, a salad, a pasta, chicken and dessert. It was a good price considering we also each had a drink as well as coffee and tea. It is clear that they are working out some issues with service as the dishes were coming out. Our server recommended the tasting menu but we actually had the same amount of food, plus drinks and coffee for less than the cost of the tasting menu for both of us. Chicken parm was our favorite dish. Definitely will come back but probably will wait so that they have a chance to mature as a restaurant.
Thw service was very attentive. Food, however, was not overwhelming. It was good but nothing really special.
First experience at Giuseppe & Sons was good, but not as great as expected, due to service. Arrived on time for a 7:45 reservation and waited almost 30 minutes to be seated, and then had to wait additional time for a server to arrive at our table.
Food was delicious and atmosphere was phenomenal.
Just opened so don’t want to be too critical but to summarize it’s ok. Food was good not great and fairly priced. Nothing bad but nothing that’s stood out, it’s Italian so I have come to realize the more hype and new usually doesn’t deliver the “wow” factor. Again it was fine but no rush to go back
No happy hour specials. Food and service was good. Seating areas are interesting- lots of couch on one side and chair on the other options; small tables.
Food was f
We were there during the first two weeks of their opening.
The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. We decided to go with the sample to get a wider selection of the menu.
We started with the shrimp scampi and Stromboli for the appetizers. The shrimp was delicious, but the helping was small. The Stromboli was huge and good.
Then we had a very tasty Caesar salad.
That was followed by the Crabs and macaroni. This was served with the whole crab on top of the macaroni which needed to be cracked and picked by us. That was a disappointment in such a fine atmosphere. Too messy when you’re dressed for a fine dinner. We asked to order something different and the staff offered to take the dishes back and remove the crab meat for us; which they did. The outcome was outstanding! That is how it should have been served from the start. We made that suggestion but I don’t think that it was received very well.
Our main course was the chicken parmigiana which was pretty standard.
It was capped off with a HALF of a small cannoli. That was a great cannoli but way too small.
One last note was the wine list. It was focused on Italian wines but they were very expensive. Most bottles were over $100.
Overall the experience was good and the food was delicious.
Great location and ambience and food was very good. However, service was suboptimal (very slow and multiple times needed to track down server for attention). I will return.
It’s their first week open, so clearly a few wrinkles. Food: good, not great. Scampi needed more garlic. Artichoke appetizer also bland. Salads, veal parmigiana very good. Sunday meatballs delicious. Service was spotty, though trying hard. Food came out in irregular order, and they forgot to bring one dish altogether. Sever brought the wrong wine. Value: very good, and the space is terrific. We will come back in a while!
The apps were very good. The pastas came out room temperature though which was disappointing. The deserts were excellent.
The place is beautiful Food was excellent. Seafood salad was fresh and just delicious. Baby artichokes a must. Dinner was crabs and macaroni the best I ever had omg. Then dessert baba!! So fresh and sponge cake and pudding sooo good and of course a cannoli!! Can’t wait to return !!!
Got the tasting menu, most of it came out cold and way too quick. Had no chance to relax and enjoy the food. Service was great!
Food came out so cold it was sent back. Service was poor despite the 100 employees they have walking around the restaurant. However, the restaurant atmosphere is very cool - probably the only reason we would ever go back.
We had a great time. Beautiful restaurant
I gave three stars because we were there just a few days after opening. Even the best new restaurant needs time to iron out kinks. Still, the abundance of family style served appetizers was overwhelming. I heard ther tables around us saying the same thing. The service felt rushed. The long hots were too hot to eat. The roasted red pepper salad did not have red peppers. The meatballs were dense and not served hot. For mains, the chicken fra diavolo was not what was expected. The whole chicken breast (on bone) was sitting on top of bread. It was dry, just warm and not served with nearly enough sauce. The sauce, too, was not at all spicy -- and you certainly would expect spice with fra diavolo. Finally, a side of pasta we had with the house gravy was also just warm. The gravy was very soupy and tasted heavily of olive oil. I am hoping these folks get it right the next time. On top of all of this, the service seemed less than sincere -- and not on part for a restaurant of this caliber. It is a beautiful space and it has potential to be a great Philadlephia dining establishment.
Outstanding , Schulson does it again !
+AAA added to the list of amazing Restaurants the Restauranteur has created.
Will not be disappointed !
TERRIBLE!!! Avoid for at least a couple of months until they figure out how to run a restaurant.
Very good food, service was very good. Tasting menu was worth it!
Went during opening week. Love the decor/atmosphere. Service was on point.
Food was mostly great. Liked that manager asked what we liked & didn’t.
All was good but shrimp scampi was over spiced. Chicken parm/buffalo mozzarella & Stromboli were great as was tiramisu.
Can’t wait to go back!
Once they settle in, and fine tune the kitchen, this should be an excellent addition to the scene in center city. I am optimistic that this fine team will tweek til its a gem.
Typically don’t go to somewhere that just opened, but it was convenient for pre-concert dinner. For an Italian restaurant, all the servers were thin and of the Millennial generation. It is promising but needs some work. The octopus appetizer was good, but the baked clams were not as described. I asked if they were whole or chopped and though advertised as whole, came out to be chopped and mostly bread crumbs. The pasta bolognese was good but not hot when delivered. The salmon was served in strips rather than a filet which although tasty, was odd to me. The server went through an excellent recitation describing the Patagonia sourcing so I was looking forward to it from the outset. My advice is to cut back on the breadcrumbs on everything and emphasize freshness. That’s the Italian way of life. The tiramisu was good, but oddly served like a piece of cake instead of what one would typically expect. The Frank Sinatra tunes reminded me of my Bobby-soxer Mother although she would have been most critical of the food and in particular the undecidedly un-Italian bread. The wine by the glass list was a high point with the inclusion of a Nero d’Avola. Turn down the music and add some lighting so one does not need to shine their phone on the menu and use a magnifyer to read the list.
