Giuseppe & Sons
Had reservations however it still took almost an hour to be seated.
It was good.
Food was very disappointing
This is the 2nd time I’ve had a very disappointing experience here. I live in the neighborhood and we’ve been going since they opened but it’s gone downhill. Like most of the Shulson Restaurants the food is secondary to the experience & decor. The ambiance is great but the food is just ok but it had been reasonably priced with good service so it had become a go to restaurant for us but no more after this last experience. The server was sweet but not very proficient - the dishes came out far apart, sometimes we had to flag someone down to order another drink then my friend’s entree came out burnt so they kindly offered to get her something else but then I sat there with my entree and ate alone while she waited 20 min for a replacement. Maybe they should have offered to take mine back to the kitchen until her new one was done or give us something complimentary to eat that was readily available while we waited. It’s as if they had a bunch of inexperienced kids working there with no management in site. The thing is the restaurant wasn’t even busy. Each dish that came to the table was “auctioned” off meaning “who had the ??...very poor service. I didn’t see the manager once which in previous time’s I used to see them actively working the floor. They apologized and sent us an extra dessert that we didn’t even like but I don’t think it was handled well. The last time we were there it was with a group of 6 for a special occasion, we spent over $1000 with wine and the service was appalling. So disappointed with this place which used to be a neighborhood gem now it’s off my list.
I’m shocked that this place had so many good reviews. The food was bland.
It was my first time dining here and I was very excited to finally try it. I booked a Sunday night knowing that the crowds would be light and the experience would not be rushed. Unfortunately that was not the case. From the moment we sat down, the waitress consistently rushed us along throughout the entire meal. Over the 10 minutes we were looking at the menu, she must have came over four times to ask if we were ready. It was 6pm on a Sunday with open tables everywhere, not sure why we were rushed. While i realize the main courses come out as ready, i really wish there was more time between the salads/apps and the main courses. Overall the timing just seemed off and rushed. The food was very tasty and delicious. Just extremely disappointed with the service which impacted the experience.
Food was great. Service was so so. The wait staff did not pour wine even when he came by to see if everything was okay and saw our glasses were empty
Love the inside decor of the restaurant, right down to the bathrooms. The table side mozzarella is a must.
We loved especially one of the new fishes. It was a pork ragu with rosemary served over handmade fresh pasta....
To die for!!!!!
The first impression is how nice and comfortable the restaurant looks and feels. Contemporary, warm but a little dark. The menu is extensive with all your favorite Italian dishes. The meatballs and red sauce were very good. Nothing exceptional but as good as you'll get in a good Italian restaurant. The bread was Italian but the olive oil portioned by a waitress. None on table. The gnocchi were OK, in that the texture was a bit like frozen store bought gnocchi. They need to do better. I had a bone-in pork chop that was really outstanding. It was large, brined and very tender and grilled perfectly . The rest of my party had entrees that they liked very much like chicken marsala and salmon. All seasoned very well and cooked properly. The service was excellent, the waiter very friendly but the food was delivered too quickly from course to course. Obviously, turnover time is very important to them. Lastly, the wine list is good with all Italian wines. None reasonably priced. We had a $110.00 bottle (I didn't dare try the cheapest at about $70.00) of chianti that was not very good BUT I am used to drinking excellent wines from my own wine cellar. However, you can find excellent 90+ rated Italian wines for $20-30 retail so it is within their reach to offer a great wine for $60-$80. Don't be greedy Guiseppe and if I am going to pay that much for wine give me a real wine glass that bespeaks the price!
If the delicious food and intimate aesthetically pleasing ambiance didn’t make me feel like an old school celeb than Dan, Eddie, and Kristian certainly did. All 3 of them were outgoing, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our overall dinning experience fantastic. Would highly recommend this place.
Loved the room. The food and service were exceptional. Looking forward to a return visit ...
The food was decent but over-priced for what it was. Server charged us for an extra glass of wine--fortunately we caught it and had him revise our bill.
First time our anniversary they gave a champagne toast start the meal very nice service excellent food excellent then went to bar for cocktails and they gave us lemon cello on the house will be back!!!! Thxs again
Great service and great food!!! The chicken parm was amazing
We love this place since opening ! Food service always amazing ! Will be back soon
Firstly we were sat near the bar for dinner, one person on a very low chesterfield couch and another on a proper table chair, the height difference was laughable, my girlfriend was a good 2ft below me and we asked to be moved to a proper dining table...not a great start. We were then told the ‘dishes come out when they’re ready’ which in 2019 is just an excuse for bad kitchen management, this will become apparent later on in this review.
The cocktails were bland and overpriced and offer nothing different to their competition.
We then ordered appetisers which took about 15 mins or so, nothing too long, they were full of salt and tasted of nothing else, we complained and they were taken away. We ordered mains and sides at this point, the halibut, tomato pasta and asparagus, the pasta and asparagus were delivered in about 15 mins again and the pasta was so full of salt (again) it actually burned the roof of my mouth, we sent this back and complained, the time between our asparagus, a side dish of our main and the actual main coming out was 25+ mins, meaning the butter on the asparagus was going hard, the halibut was so over cooked it was dry and tough to eat, we finished 75% of it due to pure starvation at this point.
All the time during this I felt that we were a bother to the staff, multiple different people kept asking us how our meal was too which a little too much.
I will not be going back here and will stick to other places like rouge, Devon, butcher and singer etc. Very disappointed and ruined our evening.
Tasty food but same sauce everywhere: meat balls, arancini and lasagna.
Wine should have gotten to the table faster.
Very fast service (too fast?)
It was fine, but expensive relative to other restaurants that are similar.
Our server was kind. Our food runner was novice but sweet! I’ve been here before and food was good. Smaller pasta portion than our previous visit but it was delicious!
They were very sweet and brought out a mini dessert and sparkler for a birthday!
This was our second time going here and it again did not disappoint. We will be back.
Great food and service.
The restaurants ambience was great for a Saturday night get together. The wait staff was attentive to our needs & the food came out timely. The only negative comment I can make the Giuseppe’s was the food was a little bit to salty for me.
Excellent cuisine. Especially the Gluten Free offering that were excellent including Spaghetti or Rigatoni Pasta, Chicken or Veal Parmigiana, Gluten Free Bread and other non-Gluten selections.
It took a little time to figure out selections due to the Family Style servings, who would share what and with whom. But it all worked out nicely.
Can't wait to return.
Food was amazing! Really nice anniversary dinner! Every shareable plate was better than the first! Highly recommended-we will be going back!
Great experience! The waiter Brian was awesome and out going. The atmosphere was very elegant and classy!
Our first time at this restaurant. Visited for restaurant week. The cocktails were great and everything we ate was delicious. The portions were so generous that we took some leftovers with us - unusual for us not to me able to finish. Our server, Jonathan, was amazing. Very attentive despite the fact that he was serving multiple tables on a very busy Friday night. We will definitely recommend to our friends.
I went with my daughter for restaurant week .....the food , the service was amazing.
We had a great night here! The food is generous portions, and very good. Drinks were great and the ambiance makes you want to stay awhile.
Food was excellent and our wait staff was excellent! Only complaint is the kitchen seemed very overwhelmed - it took over an hour and a half to receive all of the courses from the restaurant week menu and noticed all the tables around us having the same experience. Would still go back and would recommend it to others.
Very classy and the food was tasty. The downstairs had a very classic feel to it
They were out of several items on the menu. It seems this occurs almost every time we dine there. Service was rushed. However we like they food and will return again.
Me and my friend went for restaurant week, it was ok. The water was nice however the food wasn’t the best. The shrimp scampi was good and so was the eggplant parmigiana. The salmon was under cooked, still raw in the middle, the asparagus was not seasoned. Crab spaghetti was ok not the best. Overall a good experience to try a new restaurant but I won’t be back.
Quick, friendly and enthusiastic service. Drinks were great....and plate sizes were perfect to share
Service was great, waiter was excellent . Food was alright compared to some other Italian restaurants. Dessert was great .
My boyfriend and I went for restaurant week and I liked the menu online so I chose this place. The menu is slightly different from what they present online and you have to share your food which was disappointing to find out. Our server Eric was very nice and knowledgeable about all the things we asked him BUT the service was extremely slow! We got there around 7:45pm and did not leave until 10:30pm! Between each meal it took almost 30 mins to bring out the next and the meals are small which was very frustrating. I had to talk to the manager Aaron about this issue and he was nice enough to comp our drinks & send us our their signature lemon drop drink. That’s the only reason I’m giving them a 3 star because manager did seem remorseful. The food was just okay...nothing to rave about. It’s a nice date setting but with the slow service and moderate food I probably won’t be back.
It was a perfect evening with food thst melted in your mouth. Every bite was heavenly.
excellent food. elevated versions of many standard italian dishes. crabs and spaghetti was incredible.
wine list was expensive. carafe of house wine (do they get this from where? a box? ) should be less than $20 but was twice that. Mixed drinks are a better value. the place has a cool vibe and I want to go back
Food is just OK. Ambience is very nice. It's not authentic, like eating at the Italian restaurant at Disneyworld. Our server Lauren was excellent.
