Giuseppe & Sons
We had the Sunday Supper. The 1st course was excellent. The 2nd/3rd course was rushed out and by the time we were ready to eat the meatballs, chicken and sausage, the food was cold. A manager apologized. It just seemed like they wanted a quick turnover of the table. Disappointed....
Yum mmt so good
The service was wonderful and the food was tasty but two of our dishes came out only lukewarm.
Some of the best Italian food I’ve had at a restaurant. Very affordable and fast for how good of a quality the food was. Reminds me of how my grandpa used to make it🇮🇹
Excellent meal and service. I would recommend to others.
Customer service was amazing!! Their food is always great, but our server Marc went above and beyond.
Our waiter Darren was amazing. Tableside mozz. Stuffed long hots. Rigatoni vodka & eggplant parm. All amazing.
Great service. Mark was our server. He was knowledgable of the menu and checked on us often even though it was a busy Saturday night. Our food was spaced out perfectly and the managers checked on our table as welll.
Service was extremely slow and the seating is cramped. Importantly, though, the food was good and the prices were very reasonable. If not for the seating situation I would have said the ambiance is also a plus.
Our party of two was placed right next to the bar between two other tables, so there was no privacy whatsoever. We were mere inches from the next table, and had bar patrons backed up to one of the seats. The table was so small, we had to constantly reshuffle to fit things onto the table. Although this is becoming more common with city dining, it borderline ruins any hint of romance in your date night.
The food was not as good as it has been in the past. The artichokes used to be the best I've ever had. They changed the recipe, and now they are not very good. The chicken parm is also not as good as it used to be. The food is still good, but we were disappointed.
Food, service, decor all excellent but it was freezing and half the women sitting around me had to wear their coat throughout the meal.
The only thing that was worse than the service was the food. I never been served Veal Parmesan on the bone served with no sauce. Not to mentioned that it was burned and dry. Only had to ask for bread 3 times prior to getting it. The good news was the Parmesan Reggiano that they gave us was very tasty.
The service was very good but unfortunately the food was not close to expectations.
Very dry meat, tasteless spaghetti and a salad overcome by vinegar.
I love Italian food and this was a huge disappointment.
I believe that the meals are not fresh and made ahead of time and reheated in batches. This accounts for the dryness of the meals.
House Chianti was also weak.
This is my first review as I usually let things go.
Food was too salty and cheesy. It was hard to find the flavor in the food due to the over-the-top cheesiness of the pasta. Service rushed us the entire time, was not personable, and forced us to pay while I was still eating my dessert (best part of the meal was dessert). This restaurant has potential due to the space and ambience, but the food was not up to par.
I’ve been there a dozen or so times and the food and service have never been better. Every single dish was fantastic. Nice job guys.
Promising but uneven
The food is solid to very good but the set up where we were was silly.
Trying to serve "family style" dishes in a bar area seating area on a round TV tray sized table just does not work.
We had a reservation for dinner and were not there for drinks. The staff did the best they could but the continual adding and taking away of plates and glasses to make room did not make for a great dining experience.
If you have people reserving for dinner 10 days in advance, I suggest you plan for a full dining table unless you know they are only staying for appetizers.
Mouth watering Italian dishes & great service ! We will be back👍🏻
Part of our food order was very good but the osso bucco was dry (which seems impossible for a braised dish?) and the addition of raw garlic on top over-powered what should have been a rich sauce. The dish did not have a great sauce either. If this is a staple on the menu it needs to be improved. How ever the other veal dish we had and the pasta was very nice. On another note everyone in the establishment needed to use their phones to light the menus. The type is small and the space is dark.
Everything was great until I ate a meatball that had some bone in it. Almost broke a tooth. Otherwise everything was good and they threw in a desert for trouble. Hopefully I don’t end up with a big dental bill.
I was here several months prior and returned for my mother’s birthday. Clams casino were a favorite before but this visit seemed to be all bread crumbs and filler without actual clams. Entrees arrived lukewarm at best (and I’m not even one to like my food exceptionally hot). After indicating a birthday on both my reservation and to my waiter, nothing was done..
Chicken parmigiana and ricotta ravioli in the balsamic was amazing! I’ve been multiple times and it’s always awesome.
Food was good and very filling. I felt the waiter recommended way to much food for the size of our party. Plates were much bigger than expected which is a good problem to have, just would have ordered differently had we known. A few hiccups with service but nothing major. Would definitely recommend and will return. Absolutely beautiful dining room downstairs. Also great bartender upstairs for a pre-dinner drink!
Food was okay not great. Chicken Milanese was overcooked. Service was good. Ambience was fine.
Several friends raved about this place, so figured we would give it a try. We went for our 12 year wedding anniversary. We started with the shrimp scampi, which was delicious. I ordered the chicken parm and the hubs had the Sunday gravy. The chicken parm was way over cooked and very tough to cut, and barely any sauce on the chicken, which I'm not big on a lot of sauce, but there was hardly any on the chicken. They do not serve a side of pasta, or any side, you pay extra for them. So I ordered gnocchi, they were tasty. The hubs Sunday gravy was good, the gravy had great flavor and the pasta was perfect al dente.
We finished with a shared dessert of spumoni, very good and the perfect portion.
A little pricey but worth every dollar. The food is amazing and the service was outstanding. Plus it’s a really cool atmosphere and they didn’t rush us at all. Highly recommend!
Must orders -- shrimp scampi, meatballs, gnocci, chicken parm . The pork chop is the best thing on the menu for dinner. They could take the crab and spaghetti of the as a dinner dish and put the scampi on as a dinner rather then appetizer. Maybe add a scallop or some clams into the mix for a white diablo.
The table side mozz was good but not the consistency I was expecting. Wait staff was good, but we waited a while before someone came to speak with us. We had to order all at once so if you are hungry, know what you want to eat.
Not nearly as good as when we had been there before earlier this year.
Enjoyed the Giuseppe salad last time but tonight they said they don’t have that for the normal menu and nothing else like it.
Some things were really good (shrimp scampi, ricotta pasta) but some were very disappointing.
Below average Italian food for Philadelphia. Similar quality to higher end Italian chain. The service: our water was filled once at start of dinner, had to walk to the front to find a fork, etc. Hard pass unless it’s a work dinner or free.
We went here for dinner because of the 4.5 star review. Honestly, I was not impressed with this restaurant. Do not go here expecting an intimate and romantic experience. Instead of being greeted by family hostess at the entrance we were directed to walk down a set of steps into the basement. At the bottom of the steps was a large, loud bar and a hostess stand squeezed into a corner of the lounge. It was very crowded and a bit unorganized. We checked in and attempted to grab a drink while waiting for our table. After 15 minutes we were sat without being successful at getting a pre-dinner drink.
The dining space is huge and they cram them in. We were wedged between two other couples and could not help but overhear both conversations. Again, not the place to go if you want to have an cozy dinner with a significant other.
We ordered two appetizers and our dinners. The shrimp was fabulous and the clams casino was so-so. No one ever came back to ask if we wanted another glass of wine. Dinner was okay, but we were not blown away. I would have expected a bit more creativity. It may have made us forget about the loud. We don’t mind splurging for dinner out but, don’t want to spend +$30 a plate to feel like I’m eating at Buca de Beppo or Maggiano’s.
I definitely recommend Giuseppe & sons....thought I was dining in Italy!
The service was so terrible which is a shame because the food was really good! Took forever for the server to even come over to the table and then the bread course arrived at the same time as the food. Took a look time for plates to be cleared. Just overall a really bad service experience. Probably will not return.
Amazing! Food was spectacular and the service was great!
Service needs to improve. Our waiter was not responsive. A dish was brought to our table that wasn’t ours and that seemed to be happening a lot. People at check in desk were good. Waiters need training on customer service. We spoke to several friends that ate at the restaurant and they all had poor service experiences
My side dish was never delivered. The whole branzino was to be de-boned, but it wasn’t. Never finished it and sent back. Desserts are pretty much only custard based; no cake type desserts. Server was great and apologetic, but way over priced for Italian. Not worth it.
Other than seating us behind the service station everything went well...
I love this place. It is beautiful and very good food. Ot is our second visit. This time we brought friends for pre-theater. started at happy hour. downstairs bar area a show stopper visually. cocktails are great and wonderful happy hour deals.
My only teal beef this time is that our waiter suggested way too much food. Two pastas, large salad, four huge entrees was double what we needed. We took half with us.
That being said, bone in veal parms were great as was chicken parm. Not a fan of the kale salad. Too much of dark heavy leathery kale and nothing to break it up with. Baby kale would be better perhaps with something else tossed in.
Gnocchi great. Crab spaghetti good. Great olives we ordered. they also have complimentary ones. They have complimentary pizza type focaccia bread. wish we had known. wouldn't have ordered both of those at bar during happy hour.
The happy hour drink, Grotto Azzura, was delicious! Ask for Christian, he is amazing! Very cool ambiance. The bread basket and parm cheese at the table was the best food we ate all night. The meatballs were bland, and needed to ask for more sauce. Arancini was just "ok". For the price, I wouldn't get them again. Our entrees were over-priced Italian cuisine, with hardly any flavor, and not family style at all. The homemade pasta noodles would've been delicious if they added seasoning, and didn't over power the dishes with red pepper flakes. I didn't taste any white wine and garlic sauce on the linguine with clams. On a few bites, I bit into sand from the clams, so in the future, I suggest they take the time to clean them. My friends both asked for the shrimp scampi over pasta noodles. Had to double the appetizer order of shrimp to put on the pasta and the cost was $54!!! Ridiculous. Both said the dish was spicy, and not enough salt/seasoning. The orecchetti with sausage was ok, and probably the best meal out of all 3. The budino was delicious, but skip the banana cream pie. Why wouldn't you make a graham cracker crust?!?! I'd come back for the drinks and the pizza bread. Definitely disappointed.
Family dinner great spot excellent menu choices and spot on portions. We are a large Italian family so the family style dishes were perfect for us
From the minute we walked in the staff was amazing, we got their early and sat at the bar. We ordered two delicious Negroni's and a few appetizers from the bar menu that were on the Happy Hour specials. Meatballs, fried calamari, prosciutto zeppole and fried zucchini - all were hot, full of flavor and a wonderful way to sample several different items - each dish was easy to share between 2 people. Since we were enjoying sitting at the bar I advised the hostess that we would not need our table, and she was very pleasant and said no problem and made the change. The octopus, casear salad and pastas were also satisfying. This was my second visit, and enjoyed the bar as much as the restaurant. Food was consistently good and the vibe so enjoyable.
Incredible chicken parm and ambiance! Would definitely recommend for some quality Italian.
