Giuseppe & Sons
Be aware that the menu is “small plates”, so when you look at the menu online, consider ordering 5-6 different plates for 2 people. It was great!
Waiters couldn’t get the drink order straight. Food was good not great
Horrible experience on a Friday evening. I had a 6:30 reservation but arrived for 5pm for happy hour which is @ both bars but the upstairs was closed for a private party, downstairs which was packed. You can only have a happy hour prices drink & food @ the bar literally. So that was a bust. Ordered the crab & spaghetti & the crab was bad & tasted fishy. It was sent back but by then the experience I wanted was ruined for me. My best friend has Veal Milanese & broccoli rabe that I tasted & that was DELICIOUS! I may try it again. Definitely don’t try on a Friday night is my opinion
The food is delicious. But the dishes come out too fast making for a rushed, and ultimately overstuffed, experience.
It was awesome! And the sommelier was spot on!
The ambiance and decor is superb. Beautiful place . The staff was so helpful and pleasant from the hostess to the waiters and the bus boys . I had the Cioppino with a side of pasta the sauce was Devine the seafood was fresh and tasty . The appetizer Stromboli was so good the sauce to put on it was delightful. My friend had the lasagna. Will was full of flavor well made . I must come back to eat there .
Food was good. Service was not as good as the last time we went.
I went with a group a few months ago and everything was great. Everyone was happy. Tonight, it was okay. The shrimp scampi and salmon were very good but the pasta dishes (can't even remember which ones) were undercooked, the caesar salad was strangely sweet and the bread was hard.
The food tasted just like my pops from Italy! The service was exceptional, especially making the mozzarella!
The food was excellent and I love the aesthetic of the restaurant. The only thing I was surprised to see was that classic Chicken dishes such as Chicken Parmigiana do not come with a side of pasta and everything was more a la carte. Traditionally at most places they automatically come with a side of pasta.
Excellent authentic italian food. Everything was delicious. We were seated on time. Our server was very attentive. Must get the table side mozzarella! Can’t wait to go back.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, quick service.
Atmosphere very dark!!!! Food very good service was outstanding Jonathan a great waiter!!
This was our first time at G&S. We decided to "take a chance" because of, what we now know to be, an unfriendly review. Well, the reviewer was wrong. This place is terrific. For appetizers we had the tuna crudo and the garlic shrimp. Both were outstanding. For the main courses we had the veal chop and the pork chop both of which were among the best we have had anywhere. We split a tiramisu for desert. Simply, an outstanding experience and we will definitely be back.
Pretty darn good. We were seated in the wayyyy back (I think they might use this space for private parties) so we didn't really get to enjoy the gorgeous atmosphere (and it really is stunning) sans the walk to and from our table. I recommend asking NOT to be seated there. Food was great but v. expensive - might have been worth the extra $ if we got to sit in the regular dining area. Drinks were fab and the hand pulled mozz lived up to the hype.
Great server, good food, and the cocktails were incredible.
Was a little hesitant to try this as the reviews were a little mixed but very happy we did. Very cool looking space and the food was delicious. We had the chicken parm, meatballs, rigatoni and caesar salad. Loved everything but meatballs were our favorite!
Originally they sat us in the back corner... we requested a new seat and they moved us to a better location in the middle of the restaurant. Service was wonderful, food was even better!
Best Italian food in Philadelphia !!!! Celebrated an anniversary there and had a fantastic time.
Liam was great. Food was great. Hot.
Recommend the table side mozzarella.
My favorite spot in the city.
This was our second time to Giuseppe & Sons, and this time was just as good as the first. Our server Kenny did a wonderful job explaining the menu, and we had a great visit with our daughter and her boyfriend dining before they saw a show at the Academy of Music.
I highly recommend visiting before a show. I would definitely recommend the lasagna or the gnocchi.
Better value is to go during happy hour and sit at the bar. Food was good but overpriced for portions. Wait staff seemed to be a step behind the whole night. We got our apps before we got our wine or bread. And we're half way through our meal when the waitress asked if we wanted grated Parmesan. Overall it was ok but there's better near by.
Absolutely wonderful experience! Downstairs restaurant is a must see for anyone visiting Philly. Be sure to try the incredible Tuna Crudo appetizer, and the veal parm was phenomenal.
I was a little skeptical from seeing pictures online, which made the dining room looked sparse and cafeteria like. It’s not like that, at least not tonight. The place was busy with an active bar and dining room. The lights were low, the ambience inviting, the vibe busy but not overwhelming, and the service capping things off with excellence.
Food wise, the complimentary bread, Parmesan, and olives were all delicious, if too much for me as 1 person. My dinner was shrimp scampi, rigatoni alla vodka, and osso buco, some sauv blanc, coffee, and limoncello. The shrimp scampi may have been my favorite, but I was also the hungriest at that point. The bosso buco was delicious and came with a generous marrow bone. The rigatoni was sort of as other reviews have said, kinda bland, and I didn’t bother to finish it, but I bet it will make a great hotel room breakfast tomorrow.
The service was great. I would totally come back here again, and would like to mingle at the bar more. It was a solid meal, and with service and ambiance that exceeded expectations.
Downstairs restaurant was very cool, although very dark. Guessing that's part of the ambiance. Dinner was vey good from the apps to the entrees. Service was outstanding.
Food was awesome!
We went to Guiseppe & Sons to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and it was the perfect spot. Super romantic, cozy - great experience. Our server Jonathan was wonderful and attentive. Must get the hand-pulled mozzarella and the desert cocktails!
Our 3rd time here. Possibly the best food in the city and the coolest space and gorgeous bar. However - we were way too rushed. We wanted to order our appetizers first. Sit and enjoy - but our sever insisted we order everything and of course - things came out way too fast. Not a way to dine if you are spending $200/couple.
We had a fantastic dining experience here, the food and service was incredible as well as the attention to detail. The best staff in town.
Everything from the food to the service was spectacular. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Wild highly recommend this restaurant
Great vibe! Tables a little too close to each other
Britney our server was fantastic! The food and drinks were delicious. We had seafood, pasta and chicken dishes.
It was really excellent and I would recommend to others. Definitely sit downstairs where it is less noisy.
The food and service is very good, but it is extraordinarily noisy, the younger crowd is embarrassingly loud and shouting and oblivious to others. I don’t know how the restaurant can address that atmosphere other than to do without patrons like our party. Too bad.
Great service great food
Great service and options! Everyone from out of town was raving about dinner in our meetings the next day.
After many visits. Was just ok this time. Lackluster services. AAron the manager was great
Food and staff were AMAZING, new favorite restaurant in the city
Very over priced crazy prices. Never got an Italian entree were you have to pay $8 for spaghetti on top of $23. Also waiter served my vegetarian friend a dish that clearly had meat. It was an appetizer.
Great restaurant but will be doing happy hour from now on which is great, steakhouse prices only with chicken
Too dark in the room
