Girl & the Goat L.A.
Chef Stephanie Izard and her team are thrilled to join LA’s vibrant restaurant community and continue our tradition of serving tasty, bold-flavored foods in a fun and lively family-style setting. A few favorites, like goat empanadas and sautéed green beans, will be back on the menu. Stephanie and her team have also crafted new dishes inspired by California produce and local flavors, like carrot-tahini dip with tahini tofu, and curried goat with radishes, pickled vegetables, and masa chips. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of fun cocktails created by our bartenders.
Located in the Arts District at 555 Mateo, Girl & the Goat offers dinner service Monday through Sunday, plus brunch Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads and adventurers!

Fantastic staff and Sensational food!!! Can’t wait to go back!!!
My new favorite restaurant! Can’t wait to go back!
Very accommodating, especially with one of us having several food allergies! Great service, food, and drinks! We will definitely be back!
We were familiar with this restaurant from Chicago and were looking forward to eating here. The food was terrific as was the service. I would rate this as my new favorite restaurant except for the deafening noise level. There is nothing about having to shout across the table to be heard that makes for an enjoyable evening. If you go to the restaurant, ask for an outside table even if it is cold or raining. It is still loud but you will enjoy it much more.
Wonderful staff, ambience and food! It was a lovely dining experience in which they surprised us with champagne, and an appetizer! The food was flavorful and recommendations by staff were right on! The experience was lovely and couldn’t have asked for a better evening. Highly recommend everyone to try Girl and the goat!
Great service and delicious food. Wine is expensive with a small pour by the glass. 2nd visit just as good as the first!
The hostess was most accommodating in finding us an outdoor table when we 1st arrived. Our server, Juan, was extremely helpful with recommendations for the both our menu choices as well as the selections from the wine list. We were very satisfied with the ambience and enjoyed the playlist. We all agreed that we would definitely return and bring others to experience a delightful evening. We had eaten at Girl and the Goat and Little Goat in Chicago and are thrilled that Stephanie decided to open another restaurant here in LA.
Our new favorite place for dinner. Unfortunately we are not alone. So if you can get a booking, book outdoors - unless you like eating in the Arctic. The aircon is ridiculous. But the food and service is second to none. The tomato and stone fruit salad is the best app I've ever tasted. The baked oysters, amazing as is the pork shank entree. Try the desserts. They seem bonkers in terms of their ingredients but OMG...their sticky plantain pudding is to die for!
Lots of fun!
Good food, good service and great atmosphere!!
the food was amazing and service!
Everything from the drinks, to the apps, to the dessert was amazing! There was a small mix up in the kitchen with our main but our waitress came right over and explained what was wrong and gave us the main and a dessert on the house! All in all a great experience, would definitely go back
Fantastic all around!
Tried for years to get a reservation when I was in Chicago and could never do it. So happy to finally get a chance to eat here. Food was amazingly good. Pork Belly salad and Lamb skewers were particularly fantastic. Service was spot on and vibe was nicely relaxed.
Raul made the experience great. Thank you! Food was amazing. Definitely recommend.
The staff was beyond friendly and the environment was so relaxing and fun at the same time. We can’t wait to go back for their fall menu! It’s a must go and we were a party of 2 and left feeling very satisfied ordering about 6 dishes to share ;)
Incredible food, Beautiful restaurant with a lot of sound and energy.
Absolutely amazing evening out at Girl & the Goat. The staff were so kind and lovely, and the food was outrageously good. Certainly in the top 5 meals of my life. Amazing flavors, textures, everything. My partner said it right: every dish was surprising. Outstanding restaurant, from top to bottom. Many thanks to our server Raymundo, who was an absolute gem.
Great food, great ambiance, knowledgeable and attentive staff made for a wonderful night. Keep it up!
Good vibes, good friend, good food good life’
Ambiance is intimate but open, service was impeccable, and the food was sensational! Can’t wait to come back!
This was my third time at the restaurant. I had another great experience. They also did a much better job about the timing of the dishes in terms of salad and bread coming out first, followed by veggies and entrees. My favorite dishes this time were the goat curry, green beans, stone fruit tomato salad, scallops, and popcorn dessert. I got the farmers market margarita and it was just as delicious as my first visit.
A delightful burst of colors and flavors. Definitely would come again to try some of the other dishes.
Food was very good, interesting and original drinks, great service, pleasant decor, but the club music was so loud that it was impossible to hear anyone.
Food was incredible and so different from anything else I've had. Highly recommend saving room for dessert. The potato crepe & little piggy were to die for. Do not skip out on the drinks either! The margarita and the Watermelon sugar, hops were sooo tasty
Everything we ordered on the brunch menu was amazing! The brunch potatoes surprised me with how good they were. Potato crepe was my favorite. Drinks were also delicious. My only minor complaint was that it was really noisy inside with the DJ and it was hard to hear each other especially if you had your mask on. Felt like I was yelling across the table. But only a minor inconvenience for old ppl like me.
Innovate brunch menu, focus on flavor! not your usual menu for sure. Music seriously loud...loved the ambience.
Food was excellent!
Very creative and tasty..
Service was attentive but not intrusive
Music with DJ was very very loud
If you aren't sure if Girl & the Goat intentional menu and family dining style is for you...IT IS! Each dish is thoughtful, fresh and served with such care. The flavors are unlike any other plate you've had. It's like looking at ingredients familiar to SoCal in a new way.
Here's what we ordered for 2:
Sourdough loaf + harissa butter, giardiniera
Shrimp & Crispy Greens
King Salmon Poke
Grilled Whole Branzino
Salted Caramel scoop
The restaurant is named Girl and the Goat - but only one item has goat - and it is sold out by night every night per the staff. If it's sold out all the time - that seems like a planning problem - procure and cook enough of it. The Som was not enthused to help our table and the server didn't check on us during the meal even though the 6 of us ordered, quite literally, the entire menu (or what of it was available to us as a late seating).
We had a really outstanding meal at Girl and the Goat...tomato and stone fruit salad, poke, branzino and from their vegan menu (ask to see it) maitake mushrooms. Everything was really delicious. The dessert were also great...the plantain sticky pudding was the best I have ever eaten and the fudgy brownie with shiitake mushroom ice cream was SO GOOD (sounds weird but it was so good).
The service was also very good...my only issue was with the noise level. The energy at the restaurant is very good...but the music is just too loud for my taste. That being said, I would come back in a heartbeat the food is that good!
Amazing food, super imaginative, seasonal ingredients. Service was incredible, Juan (waiter) and Katie (GM) took care of our every need.
Our server Richard was completely AMAZING!!!!! The food was spectacular. My favorite was the Tomato and stone fruit salad which was like nothing I'd ever had before, yet so familiar. The pork loin was a little overdone, but was so good it hardly mattered. I need to go back to try all the dishes. I wish I had a bigger appetite so I could have also had all the desserts.
The value is outstanding for what is now my favorite Los Angeles Restaurant.
This was the best meal I've had in a very long time. Cannot recommend Girl and the Goat enough.
Love the food and service
For sure I will go back again
Food was ok. Meat was super dried and food was a bit salty.
Went there on a double date with our best friends. Nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. The food was outstanding, and dessert is a must. Especially the popcorn situation dessert. Will definitely be going back.
Never a disappointing meal. Excellent food as usual. My only recommendation would be to exchange plates every few courses like you usually do at the Chicago one, especially with all of the rich flavors. Will definitely be back.
This place is amazing from the decor down to the food! Service was great, everyone was so friendly! The food was outstanding. Not a single dish disappointed my table. This is a must try location
As good as Chicago. Experiential and amazing. Great service and quality ingredients. Can’t wait to go back.
This restaurant is fabulous! Like it’s counterpart in Chicago, it is creative in every sense: amazing food, space , service, beverages, plating! A quintessential California experience. We had a blast! Thank you Stephanie!
