Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
The experience was amazing! My friend had a fabulous time celebrating her 31st birthday!
Amazing is hardly the word to describe our evening at the Girl and the Goat. Everything was so tasty. We were able to try several options. The Green Beans were so tasty and certainly not the green beans we have at home. The Braised Pork Shank fell off the bone . We had two goat dishes--Goat Empanadas and Confit Goat Belly. Excellent. Although we were so full from dinner, we didn't order dessert. Our server brought us the Caramel Corn and Malt Balls. I wanted to lick the plate. My only recommendation is to make reservations ahead of time. Enjoy
Everything was excellent! Make sure you don’t miss the scallops, and the goat neck!
Great experience with great food.
Our review would be all 5 stars except the FOH/greet staff, and the reservation process.
I reserved online a week prior w open table and received confirmation - all cool!
Then I received a reminder- kind of
Overkill, but whatever.
I then received a phone call from restaurant direct, a day ahead, wanting to confirm again?
So I phoned back almost immediately and got a machine, so I left a message to again confirm.
We actually arrived quite early (8.45 for a 10p reservation) because our concert ended early. We expected nothing but to sit at the bar - but FOH were “quite sure hey could fit us in”, so they directed us to wait and order drinks-no problem.
After an excellent local draft $7 for me, and a watery virgin cocktail $10 (?) for my partner, we were asked 3 times if we needed more drinks....
FOH fathered is up and seated us, at 10.01pm. Like I said, we did not arrive expecting to be bumped up if there was no avails, but in my experience your floor staff are your face- and I wish they had simply said 10pm was the target and not got out hope up.
End of story: we’re from 1500 miles away and this is the 4th time we’ve been to Girl and....the food and wait staff and ambiance were tops.
The above was a smallish blip for me
And would not prevent our return and our recommend.
This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago hands down!! The food is absolutely incredible I just wish it was easier to get a reservation and they served our food a little slower and more spread out. Everything came out super fast and all at once.
This is my second time having dinner at Girl & the Goat, both times the food has been magical and outstanding, the service is top notch, and I can't wait to have dinner there again!
Love that they have a vegan menu! All the servers and hostesses were so nice and accommodating. Food was good. But the salad was a bit overdressed for my taste and the veggies a bit dry.
The Girl & the Goat never disappoints. I've dined several times with friends and is such a great social setting. This time, we were celebrating my mother's birthday and they were kind enough to treat us to the Chef's Table. The food was the perfect serving size, temperature and balance of flavors. Go for the food and you'll definitely return for the service!
This was our first visit to this restaurant. We had an excellent experience. We start off the evening with goat empanadas corn & blueberry bread. We had a goat and pork sausage pasta and a trout dish. The flavors are amazing. I would highly recommend this place to try out. It is difficult to get a reservation and we had to go at 9:15 PM even though I was booking about six weeks prior to going on a Thursday night
Wonderful! Food delicious, good portions, server was informative.
What a find! Stephanie Izard, a winner on Top Chef, is the executive chef and co-owner. The dinner is served tapas style with plenty of creative sharing options! The green beans are a must! The courses are perfectly timed and paired. We tried the goat empanadas and it was delicious. No, it doesn't taste like chicken!
the food was fantastic! some of the best i’ve ever eaten to be honest.
Great decour and ambience and even better food, get the Pig Face, you won't be disappointed.
There was a lot of hype around this restaurant and it was indeed difficult to get a reservation. The place is big and the noise level is high. The food was interesting and mostly quite good but definitely over salted. The service was really mediocre at best. Our server was scarce and not particularly friendly or engaging. They had that “hey, you’re lucky to be here” attitude as opposed to the “hey, we’re happy to have you” attitude, so low marks for hospitality.
Great food and service. It was nice that they were able to split the bill for our group. Would highly recommend Girl and The Goat!
A good place for interesting sharing plates and a decent drinks list. Loved the empenadas.
Sat at the bar. Bartender was fantastic. Very knowledgeable of all the dishes. Made recommendations since this was our first time at the restaurant. Paired different dishes well for us and timed them all excellently. Great experience and great way to celebrate a birthday!
Service was amazing, as was the food. It will be hard not to come back often and spend way too much on green beans.
This has been one of the best restaurants I have visited. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable.
Super small portions but they are delicious
Incredible experience!!! Thank you for making my dads birthday celebration so special! Came all the way from Toronto for this awesome dinner.
Overall very good! Food is delicious! We sit outside. Service is good. One waitress was a little in a rush. She grabbed menu from me when I was still trying to order one more thing. We did ended up ordering two more while eating. Other than that, it’s very good experience!
Great service and food!
We were wowed by each dish that was brought out. Our server was great and had awesome suggestions. We will definitely return!
Very nice ambiance. Delicious food. Great service. The roasted pig face is a must-try item.
I believe they have the best food in Chicago. Had a very late reservation and was seated sooner. Service was slow to start due to a printer problem, but the overall experience was outstanding.
Creative, delicious dishes in unique ingredient combinations that all work wonderfully. Outstanding service - welcoming, friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!
Food was excellence as was the service. The pace of the food coming out felt a little rushed. Made me think they wanted the table for the next customer. Tables were close.
Amazing experience. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very helpful in suggesting the number of dishes that would appropriate for our group. Food was amazing as well!
Stephanie. Izard. That should be all you need to know. Great experience and amazing food. Will be back.
This was our first time. Food was really good. Favorites: Broccoli app, Chicken entree, and Caramel Corn & Malt Ball dessert (legitimately one of the best desserts I’ve ever had).
Service was fine; Our server was clearly rushed and perhaps had too many covers. She was kind but only moderately professional. Host staff was great.
Great place to go for a date or any type of special occasion. Food was outstanding.
Recently here for a date night, had a fantastic meal and the service was superb. Loved the variety of dishes, something for everyone. It is all sharable plates, never felt rushed, servers were very friendly. Will definitely come back!
Every dish was good!!!
Unexpectedly seated at the Chef’s table, which was a really awesome surprise. A really fun restaurant, totally lives up to expectations. Pork shoulder was the best dish.
Always amazing! The food is delicious no matter what you order.
One of the best meals of my life. Thank you for the experience.
Excelente lugar, deliciosa comida y ambiente espectacular
