Brussel sprouts 4/5
Green beans 4/5
Salmon poke 2/4 (raw salmon cubes with charred rice crispy bits spindles here and there)
Goat special 2/4 (can’t recommend.:: unless you like smoke flavored goat leg)
We were a little worried about being outside in 45 degree weather but they made us very comfortable. Service was amazing and the food was as USA outstanding!!! Love this place.
Food, drink, and service always on point here!
Outstanding outdoor sunday brunch.
First time here. Social distancing protocols and temperature checks were followed. Even though I arrived 15 minutes late (thanks, lyft!) my server Trevor timed out my beverage, appetizer, main and dessert within the allotted time window without feeling rushed. Definitely appreciated.
The space is well designed, and ambiance somewhat lively. I imagine if you wanted a quiet corner, it might be difficult on a Saturday night, but several couples were there. You could still hear yourself speak without shouting (even while next to a very excited bachelorette party shouting about Sancerre).
Speaking of Sancerre....wine list is excellent, and by the glass reasonable selection. While I dined alone, their bottle selection was well priced and curated. Heard and saw waitstaff communicating in an approachable yet knowledgeable way to those who were newer to certain varietals. I tried a gin and blueberry cocktail special, and was pleased that it wasn't overly sweet.
Now, to the food--you can really see the influence of the chef's time spent abroad. Green beans were phenomenal, understandable why they're a menu staple. Duck tartare was interesting (first time), but a bit heavily sauced for my taste. The mayo overpowered the duck imo--I'll ask for it on the side next time. The components came together well and balanced out. Dessert was the white chocolate mousse with cotija and green apple, and it was my favorite. Overall, a well developed, cohesive menu with some adventurous items, some more conservative for picky eaters. Food is very rich in general so you don't need much.
Excellent experience! Ambiance, food, drinks were all spectacular. First time here and will definitely be back.
Outside dining works so well here. It’s very festive looking. The tent &/or heaters provide enough warmth. Fantastic experience, as always
Every dish was delicious!
Food was delicious. Must try bass, mussels, goat empanada and brussel sprouts. Amazing.
Half the menu was unavailable and we were not told until after ordering our drinks. We were not interested in the other half. While what we ordered ended up being delicious and the service was great we wish we knew of the limited options before being seated.
We were told by the maitre D that we had an hour and a half to eat. Never have I experienced that before. We found it to be a very rude way to tell your customers you want to turn their table ASAP. Our service was terrible. Our waiter didn’t arrive for over 10 minutes, And during the meal there were empty wine glasses and empty dishes left on the table for so long I had to put them on a chair. Very disappointed !!! The food was good however. Very good. But if you don’t have the service it’s not worth it.
Incredible service! The food was 10/10.
Great and interesting food. .
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES FOR A SPECIAL NIGHT OUT.
The food is always wonderful and did not disappoint! We felt safe with the COVID restrictions and had a great night in this new normal. Thank you!
Was really looking forward to this experience but the food was not up to the hype we had heard. Everything seemed incredibly salty first off.... Our main reaction was that the food that did taste good, was just covered in sauces.... like of course, anything drowned in heavy sauces is going to taste good.... It just seemed for how well known the restaurant is, they were using old tricks in the book.
The food was phenomenal, as expected, and we were equally impressed with our service -- "relentless hospitality" at its finest. I would have spent almost any amount for the fantastic food, cocktails, and wine, but we were honestly surprised at how affordable everything was, considering the quality. Can't wait to go back!
Amazing restaurant with amazing staff. This is a must go when my wife and I come to chicago
We went on Sunday and had the Sunday brunch, which is a fixed 5-course menu (to share). The food was good, but not outstanding. The first 2 were really good, but the others dishes were rather standard.
We were in Chicago for 4 days, going to all recommended restaurants- and this one was by far the best!! We sat outside and the tents kept us warm and not affected by the wind. They had big heaters set up, which was lovely. We started with the green beans and shishito peppers that were unbelievable. Then we had the salmon, bass and goat empanadas. We were all blown away. It was all so delicious. Our service was fantastic. The dishes came out as soon as they were ready, very nicely spaced. We had so much fun that when the night was over, we were sad to leave our great night! Highly recommended!
Food was just amazing! Nice ambiance, laid back vibe. Staff was very attentive and pleasant. The only thing that was different at this restaurant than any other that I have experienced due to COVID was they asked you to wear masks at your table if you are not eating and drinking. Also if staff comes to table you have to put your mask back on. Not that it was a p
I went here and sat outside and was very comfortable with the heaters! The service was GREAT and the food was INCREDIBLE. I would eat here every night if I could.
Even with temperatures dropping in Chicago, G&TG provided a great outdoor space with heaters (still need a jacket, but comfortable). Food and drinks were outstanding, packed full of flavor profiles. Pig cheek and braised pork shank were our favs! The more people the merrier as far as sharing!!!
Terrific! One word says it all... service was excellent from checking in, seating, waitstaff. Food was interesting and so tasty. I also really support the approach of supporting the staff with 4% charge.
Amazing food - absolutely lived up to the hype.
Girl and the Goat continues to impress a decade later. Consistently over delivers. Thank you
Great food. Unique and phenomenal.
The food and the drinks were absolutely incredible! We ordered several dishes to share and it was fantastic. I was particularly impressed by the goat empanadas and the green beans, sublime. The service was really friendly and flexible although it took them a little longer than we would have wanted to bring the wine. Besides that everything was superb. The dishes were really tasty and original, and the drinks were interesting and yummy. The dessert was good but not as spectacular as the rest of the plates. We went with a group of 6 that included 2 kids and the staff was super nice and accomodating for the little ones!
We went for our daughter’s birthday dinner. Everything we ordered was great, with several spectacular choices!
I am writing this review during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our party sat outside in the early evening. The view of the downtown city buildings while sitting outside was very nice. This was my first time eating at this place. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and texture and presentation of the food. Everything I ate was very delicious and I enjoyed it very much. I would go back, but hopefully sit inside for the "feel" of the restaurant. Our server was very attentive and our food was served pretty quick. The flavors were light, fresh and flavorful. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and coworkers.
Amazing food but the staff always tries to rush you out, even pre-Covid. I mean it supposed to be an experience and I'm paying well over $100 dollars a person. Don't try to rush us out in an hour an half.
Definitely had higher expectations after hearing about a lot about G& the G. It was extraordinary expensive for small hors d’oeuvres and shareable plates. Unfortunately was my first and last time.
Service was quick, the food was amazing, and I can't wait to back... Maybe when things are normal again :)
Meh....not as good as prior....sodium way off the charts and limited menu with 3 items already sold out by our 8:40 reservation....a chick pea appetizer did not meld at all.....prior visits did an amazing job of merging disparate elements
This place had a beautiful vibe, delicious food, and yummy drinks. 10/10.
Excelente comida y muy buen servicio.
Great service and food. Good selection of wine. Just didn't like the 4% covid-19 service charge added to the bill.
Flew from Manhattan to enjoy one of Chicago’s best. So overdue and enjoyed a grand slam evening. The staff were Covid safe and entirely friendly. All six courses we ordered were plated perfectly and the runners were so polite and invisible. What a great ensemble team. All of the ingredients were farm fresh, robustly flavorful. The goat dish with the egg was like breakfast or dessert, and the plum dessert was the memorable ending we had hoped for. Five stars. Five stars. Five stars. Thank you everyone for a special night.
