Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.

The Capital Grille - Chicago - Downtown
This our third time dining at the restaurant. Food and service always excellent. We had 9 dishes in total. Try the shisto peppers, they are not very spicy. The whole branzino is nearly deboned (except the head). Seared scallops were great. If you are a carnivore, the pork shank is a must. Worth the effort to land a table at this Chicago classic.
The food was absolutely phenomenal ! Every single dish tasted amazing! The flavors of the meal were well balanced and unique. We will definitely back! Fantastic service as well !
Overall it was good. We had to wait over 30 minutes past our reserved time because the people would not vacate the table. The manager went out her way to talk to us and then provided free cocktails and dinner items. Our server was also amazing. I would recommend for sure.
Amazing! Everything we ordered was absolute perfection
We enjoyed our visit and overall, the food was very creative and delicious. The whole fish (branzino) and pork shank were outstanding. However, portion size for the short ribs (over done) and scallops were ridiculous. The noise level was so loud we had difficulty conversing. It didn't help that the table behind us had a few too many and were talking so loud they were literally shouting. We also wish we didn't have to flag our server a few times but he was very nice.
Our second time & definitely would return again whenever we visit Chicago again. Our server was very knowledgeable & gave us great suggestions to try — every dish was delicious especially the goat liver pate! For dessert, we recommend: the goat cheesecake & blood orange sherbet!!!!
Family was visiting from out of town.
Amazing food and service
In Chicago to see the Cowboys stomp the Bears. Made reservations to Girl And The Goat a month in advance and it did not disappoint. Drinks are very good, for dinner we had pig face, empanadas, pork shank, green beans, cauliflower, focaccia bread. Everything was very good, green beans stole the show. Our waiter Jerson was awesome and valet parking to boot. I will definitely return when in Chicago.
Great restaurant. Innovative menu and great flavour combinations
Un lugar excelente. Cada plato mejor que el siguiente. Lo mejor es pedir entre varios y probar distintos sabores.
If you're reading this and you haven't made a reservation already, there's no hope for you. Just go.
Amazing - from start to finish. One of the best meals I’ve ever had.
Everything was amazing!
Took my parents to celebrate Thanksgiving a few dats late. Amazing food and service as always. The walleye was a great new item as was the toffee dessert for us. Loved the escort ravioli too
We had the short ribs, goat empanadas, beet salad, chard broccoli with a blue cheese sauce and green beans in a fish sauce with cashews and chickpea fritters. My fav is the empanadas and the green beans. I’m gluten free and they make it very easy to order and enjoy the menu. They also have amazing gluten free bread, some of the best I’ve ever had after being gluten free for 16 years. I’m going back in a few weeks for my birthday and I can’t wait to try more menu items. It’s truly a treat. I wish I had room for dessert but it would just be too much food at once! The chocolate sorbet in a peanut butter shell with plantain whip is the gluten free option. I think I’ll go sometime and sit at the bar and just get dessert. Enjoy!!
All the courses were delicious. The chefs and waiter brought out each item we ordered at perfect intervals and paired exceptionally. The ambiance was festive and cozy. I will definitely be returning!
Great food and good service!
The food was amazing! We had a reservation at 6, and they seated us on time. It was incredibly busy and yet the food came out at a great speed and cadence. We were celebrating a birthday, and they gave us ice cream with a candle which was so so sweet of them! Every dish was delicious.
We love Girl and the Goat- this was our second visit.
This time we brought our teenage girls and had so much fun exploring the menu. The staff is so friendly and helpful- they really helped us create a wonderful experience for our daughters.
Awesome! Worth the wait!
Yearly Chicago trip with my son
Everything was delicious and we appreciated our server's guidance re: portion sizes. However, if something is made of white chocolate... please either indicate as much on the menu, or have the servers warn customers wishing to order the Caramelized Chocolate Mousse as much. Folks wanting a traditional chocolate dessert are unlikely to want white chocolate, and when the floor manager has to come by your table and express that this is an ongoing problem because most customers don't read "Caramelized Chocolate" as "white chocolate"... then the problem clearly isn't the customer, you know? I can absolutely understand and respect the chef not wanting to change the wording on the menu in service to their artistic vision and in the interest of educating and elevating customers' palates... but at least having the server explain what that means to the chef would go a long way toward achieving this goal and mitigating disappointment and returned/comped/replaced items.
The lights we were sitting under were extremely bright and it was hard to talk sitting on top of the people next to us. The service was outstanding!
I love this restaurant
Pretentious over priced fusion food. Experience made worse by waitstaff only too eager to turnover the table.
Excellent. One of a kind experience.
Food is good, but the allure of it doesn't match the food. Green Beans were best thing on the menu. It's worth the experience, but many other places both in the immediate area, and around Chicago that are much better food wise.
Visiting Chicago. Foodie trying different restaurants. This is the best so far! Food couldn’t be better. Casual lively restaurant with5 star food at reasonable price!
Visited Chicago for a conference and was able to get a table same day! Usually need to make a reservation months in advance. I thanked my lucky stars. The drinks, beet salad, short ribs, goat empenadas and goat cheese cake were as delicious as could be. And I found out that you can order half portions...but I didn't cause I was hungry!
All perfect but they should really add acoustical baffles and materials to absorb the sound -- even with 2 people, hard to carry on a conversation and that tends to leave a bad taste, so to speak.
Absolutely amazing food. We were told by our server to order 2-3 plates per person, which was WAY too much food for two people! By the time our final plates were trickling out we were stuffed.
The ambiance is great but incredibly loud, so don’t expect to have a deep conversation!
All in all, we had a great time.
We were lucky enough to get a reservation for early dinner during our short trip to Chicago. This place was highly recommended by our friends and definitely lived up to the hype. Server was really helpful in recommended some amazing dishes. We ordered 6 things between the 4 of us because we weren’t quite hungry. The pork shank and duck tongue were really great, and so was the goat confit. The flavors were all very unique, would recommend to anyone else looking for a nice date spot.
This is easily one of the best meals I have ever had the opportunity to experience.
I’m not sure if It was something i ate earlier or while i was at the restaurant on 11/23 but i probably went to the bathroom 4 times and was dying. Happened about 25 min into eating here. Service felt rushed and we were told to order 4 more plates after we put our order in, we were stuffed and could have done with about three plates less. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is great but it’s a little crazy.
Fabulous food with exceptional service provided by Elaine. It was all that and more! So grateful for a lovely evening with dear friends!
Our server Hanna was great - she was spot-on in her recommendations and in the order of the plates that came to the table. Pig Face and Pork shank are a must. Great vibe and atmosphere. Great drinks.
Loved the set up from moment we walked in. Was like a customized tasting menu so make sure to order enough. Server was fantastic, drinks were great, and goat cheese cake was probably best desert I ever had. Make sure to reserve in advance. Next trip I will order more bread, was fantastic!, and more drinks.
