About Girl & the Goat
Girl & the Goat opened in 2010 with the goal of serving a family style menu of tasty, bold flavored foods in a fun and lively setting. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of fun cocktails created by our bartenders.
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.

Special Events & Promotions:
The Underground Goat, our 18 person private dining room, is not your typical private dining space and the name encapsulates exactly what you're looking forward to. Located under the main dining room, you and your guests will be lead downstairs, through the restaurant and into the "staff only" halls of the Goat. The room itself echoes the casual, rustic atmosphere of the main dining room and is host to the restaurant's wine and liquor stock - don't be surprised if you see the hardworking bar staff sneak in a few times to keep things rolling upstairs. Chef Stephanie Izard will design a family-style menu for you (dietary restrictions will not be ignored) and our beverage director will recommend wine, beer and/or a signature cocktail to match what Stephanie comes up with.

Girl & the Goat Ratings and Reviews
I've been looking forward to trying this restaurant for months and it did not disappoint! The cuisine was delicious and creative, the staff pleasant and knowledgeable and the ambiance cozy and inviting. Everyone do yourselves a favor and try the duck tongue. You're welcome.
I can't wait to visit Chicago again and put The Girl & The Goat on the top of my "must do" list!
Simply the best! All of the food was AMAZING. When another table stayed longer than anticipated, they brought us each a glass of champagne while we were waiting and a variety of bread/butter to snack on when we were sat. Everything was perfect. Food, service, ambiance. Definitely lives up to the hype!
One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in Chicago. My wife and I have been trying to get a reservation here for 2 years and finally I booked far enough ahead to snag a late Saturday dinner.
The service was impeccable, the food was out of this world, and the experience was awesome! Girl and the Goat is one of Chicago's jewels!
We went here for a pre-opera dinner. We made a reservation so we were seated promptly when we arrived. Our server was very helpful and guided us through the menu. We ordered the warm olives, scallops, shishito peppers, wood fired oysters, and crispy beef short rib. All were great but the short rib was particularly amazing. To drink, I had the Dolce Vita cocktail which I highly recommend if you like Italian-style cocktails
Amazing, amazing, amazing. From start to finish with incredible cocktails (drinkable, too!) to the tuna, short rib, green beans, pierogis — I could go on. Been here for three years and this was my first time trying Girl & the Goat. I will most definitely be back.
If you’ve never experienced Girl &The Goat, you must go. The food is elevated and the atmosphere is comfortable. Our Waitress, Christine, was warm, honest and extremely welcoming. She made us feel right at home. Overall it was an awesome experience, the food was exceptional, and the service was delightful.
Girl & the Goat is worth all of the hype. The duck tongues were my favorite and the goat empanadas were a close second! The calamari bruschetta was good, just wish the calamari and bread were a bit smaller. The pork shank could have had a little bit more flavor. Overall, this was outstanding and will be going back in the very near future!
First time at the Girl & the Goat coming in with big expectations - they exceeded all of our expectations. We loved the eclectic menu and the ambiance. The staff were friendly, helpful, and engaging. The food was excellent, with an assortment of delicate to savory flavors. Presentation was also wonderful. But most importantly the ambiance was warm, welcoming, and inviting - never pretentious. There is a big reputation with this restaurant - based on our experience it is well deserved. Certainly worth the wait to get a reservation!!!
Girl and the Goat is never disappointing. I especially enjoyed the grilled cauliflower and the wonderful service. The manager checked on us a couple times and our server made excellent recommendations. Thank you for the unique menu selections and consistent execution of a wonderful product. My mouth is watering thinking about the next time I am lucky enough to dine with you all.
I had a better experience the first time i dined at the Girl & the Goat. It may be because the person who took me possibly bribed someone to give us an end corner table instead of the by the front of house center table so squeezed in that getting up to use the bathroom was embarrassing and they had to move the table out and away just to seat the booth side patrons... i esentially bussed my own table and we felt rushed despite my asking for a more leasurely pace from the kitchen. There were way too many staff members standing around the welcome station and it looked like a highschool crew all in casual street wear (and not chic casual) waiting for something to do. Considering I was clearing off the table and organizing the table, i felt more lile staff than a person there to enjoy a high priced meal. I was interested in the escargot ravioli but unfortunately it was luke warm and nothing to write home about. I wont be returning back anytime soon.
Our service was amazing . Most of the food was really good except my group was equally disappointed with the skirt steak , the calamari and the vegan pasta . Pretty pricey so save for a special occasion .The shishito peppers and the chickpea fritters were favorites . Price was $167 for 4 without drinks.
Overall I had an awesome experience! I would totally go back again. The food was great and the service was amazing. I do have one complaint, we had made an 8:00pm reservation and we didn’t get seated until closer to 8:40pm. They had told us to grab a drink at the bar, but the bar area was packed. I would have assumed that if I have a reservation I would be seated in a timely fashion. For a restaurant that has such fantastic food and table service this was disappointing.
