   All the food was pretty good our only thing was it was very loud in there (music too loud) so conversation was difficult so we didn’t really enjoy the atmosphere/ambiance.

   Everything about our visit was phenomenal!! We requested seats facing the kitchen. We had to wait 45 minutes which was SO worth it!! So amazing to see them at work! Fascinating!! Our food was delicious. My husband had Branzino and I had the asparagus and chickpea fritters since I am vegetarian. We had the chocolate lavender cake for dessert. Everything was outstanding!!

   Server recommended the green beans, and said it was their signature dish. The green bean quality was good as was cooking time, yet unfortunately the dish was pretty much inedible. The fish oils used in cooking left the beans extremely salty. Server also recommended a special for the evening, goat skewers. We also ordered this dish. Again we were disappointed. When I hear goat skewers, I think of goat meat, possibly with vegetables on a skewer. This interpretation was incorrect. The skewers were simply small amounts of ground goat, highly seasoned. The spices overwhelmed the ground meat.

    We were suprised to be able to get a reservation for the same day...especially because it was a Saturday night. We had to sit outside, but fortunately, the evenng was perfect for that! Not something you can count on in late May in Chicago. Our server was exceptional. Friendly. Knowledgeable. Attentive without overdoing it. Her team was also spot on, though we never finished a glass of water. We thoroughly enjoyed all of our dishes. - Poke - Our favorite. Highly recommend. The pickled kumquats were magical. And the brown butter perfectly balanced their citrus notes. Can't say enough good about this dish. - Green Beans - Spicy. Firm. Great nuts to complement the vegetable. And the goat cream. Oh my goodness. So great! - Chick Pea Fritters - Really delicious. And the bits that came around the fritters were just as good. Highly recommend this one as well. - Pig Face - This was probably my least favorite, and it was still pretty good. That said, I doubt I'd order it again. I'm not a fan of short ribs, and the similar texture of these was not very pleasing to me. That said, my husband really enjoyed it, though after seeing the pork shank, we'd probably order that instead. I also had the Peach cocktail which was light and refreshing and the rose was the perfect accompaniment for our dishes and the summer-like evening. Overall, Girl & the Goat lived up to all the hype!

    Life changing food. Big, bold, complex flavors expertly prepared and brought out by helpful staff. Loved every second of the experience and will happily return. Our highlights: lamb ribs, brown butter strawberry tart and halibut.

    Incredible evening as we were surprised our request to be seated at the chefs counter was accepted. Evan was a great host - answering all our questions while keeping up with his pastry chef duties. It was very interesting and exciting to watch the line work so harmoniously with one another. The place was packed but they all worked non-stop the whole time we were there. We even got to see Evan train a new apprentice - all as we enjoyed our great meal. Since we are new to Chicago, and open to new dining experiences, we opted for his dinner recommendations, along with our waiter’s, and were not disappointed. Fabulous food, evening, and atmosphere.     I thought maybe we'd been a little late to this foodie party, and perhaps they'd be on the downslope we too often see high visibility spots go through, but after our visit I can't possibly imagine that they are anywhere but still at the top of their game. Service was on the ball from front to back all night long on a Friday, constantly attentive with dishes flying on and off the table at rapid place with friendly but unobtrusive interactions. The food started off great, but unexpectedly got better with each dish, over the course of seven shareable plates, no less. The crispy braised lamb with 12 spice bagna cauda was the star of the show for me, providing a flavor explosion the likes of which I haven't had in quite some time, and overall the mix of rustic American and complex Asian profiles across the board was just absolutely delectable. The scrumptiously sophisticated yet heartwarming desserts even met the high bar that the savory plates set. If I lived nearby I'd undoubtedly go broke in a month by coming back over and over again.

    Our server was awful. Told us we had to order 2-3 dishes per person and when we ordered a little under our “12 point quota” she very rudely asked if that was all. Then told us she would bring all of our food out very quickly so that we could realize the error of our ways and order more food. The extremely fast pace that our food came was really overwhelming. I felt rushed and servers kept taking dishes that were not yet empty just to make room for more coming.

    Outstanding food. We particularly liked the halibut and the chickpea fritters (which was more like a chickpea salad appetizer than what I picture from the word “fritters”). The service and all staff were very friendly, helpful, and efficient.

    Superbly prepared food, original combinations that I would not have thought of, top quality ingredients. Service was also excellent. Music had a hard beat and was very hip and urban, distracting at worst and meh at best. Why not some nice soothing chamber music? Or some great singers like Edith Piaf, Sutton Foster, or Caro Emerald?

    I’m very torn about this restaurant. The food is delicious - unique & surprising; a true dinning experience. The decor is warm & the staff is attentive. They even wished us a happy anniversary & comped one of the desserts. So, why did I rate it 4 & not 5 stars?? Two reasons, and I know that these were factors for US, and may not weigh heavily with others. First, it’s really loud & hard to hear. Hard to hear the person sitting across from you & hard to hear the staff speaking. I’m 41 & have excellent hearing & its hard to hear in there. Secondly, the food prices compared to the food portions didn’t match up for us. For a $200 meal for 2 people (drinks included) we expected to walk out feeling full & satisfied. While the food is excellent, the portions are on the small side - at least for what we ordered (my opinion), and based on the prices, I assumed bigger portions (again, opinion). I would probably go back with others who wanted to go here, I would just probably have a light snack on the way. If you’re out for a fun dining experience, GO HERE! If you’re hungry & out for a satisfying meal leaving you full, go somewhere else & save this place for later.
