What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
I had dinner here solo while in from out of town and my server made me feel very well cared for without overdoing it. I was very comfortable. Had 4 veggie dishes and enjoyed them all, especially the cauliflower and the corn pierogies.
The good was amazing ! Highly recommend!
Service was flawless. Nothing dirty was allowed on my table. Gary was a great waiter and super friendly. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great evening.
The scallops were amazing and I’d highly recommend trying them.
Phenomenal place to eat! Lives up to every expectation and then some. Wait staff is very friendly and attentive. No place like it for quality and flavor of the food! Go hungry and leave very satisfied! Would give 10 stars if I could.
I had a great time. The menu items are a fun twist on home cooking. The staff was friendly and attentive. My one gripe: it’s pretty loud, don’t expect to transact business across the table.
It was our 10 year anniversary and Cassie the sommelier picked the perfect wine for all the fantastic dishes. Everything was amazing, the duck tongues, salmon, crispy pork “chicken wing”, etc. I cannot recommend this place enough, wonderful experience!
Good veg choices. The only resto in the US which dares not to have burger and fries on the menu. 😄That is bold. 🤛🏽 But the glazes are still on the sweet side.
Server was good but the majority of his attention was spent on a table with two young ladies. They ordered less dishes and drinks than us, but received more attention. It felt like we had to flag down our server.
Outstanding! The food was excellent, the service was the best. My only complaint is the noise level but then it’s a busy restaurant. This wasn’t my first time there and I’ll be back for sure!
Absolutely delicious! Service was flawless. Relaxed atmosphere. Loved the family style and how the knowledgeable staff customized the meal order from our choices
We had the best service in the US so far and the food is amazing.
Probably the best meal I have EVER eaten! I recommend the pig face. Desserts are delish!
Food was delicious, service was great, cocktails were perfect1
Food & drink: Outstanding!!!! Ambiance: Loud and lively. Service: Affable but disingenuous. Price: Reasonable. Had 4:30 reservations (and 7:30 Hamilton tix)...had enough time to WALK to the Loop for the show with 40 minutes to spare. So...when El Cacique was still around in Key West, I'd go there every time...for the food, but not for the atmosphere or service. Would I go to G&TG again? Maybe. But I'd be inclined to try something else first.
The food was really yummy. We enjoyed sitting at the table that oversaw the kitchen. They're food recommendations were spot on and delicious!
Lived up to all our expectations! Staff was fun and knowledgeable and food was amazing. Highly recommend
My girlfriend and I love all of Izard’s restaurants and this was the last one one the list. The food was incredible, the service was great, the atmosphere was fun. Can’t wait to go back.
Amazing and exceeded expectations! Service was excellent and the food was out of this world!
We had reservations at 11:00 and almost cancelled because we were tired from being at Lollapalooza....SO glad we didn’t the food was amazing!!
Definitely lived up to the Hype! Such a special experience, and a MUST-DO in Chicago.
The most amazing food and service!
Hands-down one of the best dining experiences in greater Chicago! Food is unique and every dish was amazing. Save room for dessert! The only negative is that it’s a bit noisy due to the large number of people that dine in the restaurant and that the room has little to no sound barriers. I hate special restaurant and one I will go back to soon!
The service is not quite the service you would get at a Michelin-starred restaurant but it's adequate because all you are coming here for is the food. The only ding I would give the restaurant is that I ordered oysters, and my waiter told me that I seemed to be questionable on the oysters and that's why my order never came. They also rush you a bit, which is understandable since every local and visitor wants to eat there every night and their price-point is incredibly low for the quality of food.
The recommended ordering protocol is 2-3 dishes per person. We tried the goat empanadas, the sweet corn pierogies, the sweet onion brioche, the halibut, the lamb ribs, and for dessert the sesame pavlova and popcorn/malt dishes. The only thing I regretted getting was the brioche which I felt was too filling and didn't allow me to eat more dishes. Every other dish was incredibly delicious. The lamb ribs were the best meat I may have ever had in my life. The sesame pavlova balanced sweet and savory perfectly.
The drinks were good but definitely not the highlight of the meal. Of the four we tried, my favorite was the Charles Grey. The Highlander is not a typical scotch-based drink -- it is incredibly fruity and light. I was also not a particular fan of the the Rory McIlroy or the Best of Three.
I can't recommend this place enough. It is definitely worth walking in at 10 pm even if that's a late dinner for you. I ate at Alinea the next night and although their presentation and service was much better, I waxed nostalgic for the incredible flavors of Girl & The Goat.
A wonderful dining experience! We had friends visiting from out of town and they were so impressed. A great way to spend a night showing off a true gem of Chicago.
Once again the Girl and the Goat doesn’t disappoint. I always love being people who have never been. They look at the menu wondering how her combos could ever taste that great!!!
Honestly the best experience. Words don't do justice but I'd return in a heartbeat.
I’d been to chicago before but hadn’t been able to get reservations at girl and the goat but went to little goat which was very good. On this trip my first time to chicago with my husband i planned ahead and it was sooo worth it. Amazing food, great service, ambience and music are great and so amazing to have that beautiful open kitchen. Need to return because to many menu items i still want to try !! Congrats to all at girl and the goat for a job well done
crowded, lively, still quite popular especially in the trendy district of west loop. gotta admit, the music is good. The space itself is dark and warm yet open and comfortable. The food.. aimed at “family” style so it was recommended to me, a solo diner, that the menu was limited to a few items, so I picked 3 off the menu that the server said he could halve for me. Disappointedly, there were items that I was steered away from. The food I ordered, really great. Top notch. & I would love to have tried other items. Service: a bit disappointing. I’m no movie star or anyone famous, but being a solo diner isn’t any reason for the service to be less. Granted, it was a busy night, but the server and hostesses could have been a bit better. To my server, server 101, check on your table, find out how the food was, if someone wants to spend the $ on food let them! Didn’t even drop off or run the check.. I dunno. Groups and dates yes, do spend more money, but hey, my $ is just as green. Chef great great food. Apologies I visited my myself
What a great dining experience!! We sat at a cozy chef table overlooking food prep, which really enhanced the dining experience. Highly recommend the green beans - amazing.
One of our best dining experiences ever!
Our favorite! Never seize to amaze with the complexity, originality and being absolutely delicious dishes! Serves is superb too!
Everything was perfect, except the noise level. But we didn't let that bother us.
We celebrated our anniversary at Girl & the Goat. We were seated at the chef’s station and were able to observe the shared plates as they were cooked. It was a fantastic experience!
I love eating at Girl and The Goat. The food is incredible (especially the shishito peppers) and the service is usually amazing. However, this past week I went for my birthday dinner. Due to timing, I made reservations for 10:15pm. The hostess sat us immediately, but I felt rushed my entire meal. The waitress continued to take away our menu even though we told her we were still looking. The busboy tried to take away our food four to five times even though we were still eating. I understand we had a late reservation, but if the kitchen is closing close to that time, maybe you shouldn't have that reservation option available. At the end of the night I grew really frustrated with the service and didn't enjoy my meal. Do not get me wrong, it was delicious, but it felt so hurried I never felt comfortable.
This could easily been a five but the noise level for my wife and 20 year old children was so loud I wished we would have dined outside. No offense. My fault for not asking. Pig face and goat while certainly a unique menu item just didn’t appeal to my palate or set the mood like other items. The salmon and soft shell crab were magnificent, and the halibut and the Little polish style dumplings were also delicious. The flavor and freshness of the dishes was excellent. The Service was very good and made for a fun and festive dining experience, and comp dessert was very appreciated. Girl can’t help that her restaurant is so popular the noise level is like standing under the El so I shouldn’t rant on that. Go Girl &Goat! I can understand why you’re such a hit! I’ll come back but dine outside. I also loved hearing REM on your music list! All the best as you take over West Loop.
Just go! Worth every penny - AMAZING food!
I am so glad that we visited the Girl and the Goat on our last night in Chicago because it would have ruined every other restaurant for us! Every detail was impeccable. The restaurant has great energy and ambience. Ryan (our server) was incredible and very professional. The food...outstanding. My favorites were the duck tongues and veal chops but I didn't try anything that I didn't like (and I tried A LOT!) I can't wait to come again so that I can try even more from the menu. Outstanding!
Diverse menu with very innovative dishes. We will be back!
