Service was on point. Quiet atmosphere.
Prices are ridiculously high for quality of food. My $15 Caesar salad was swimming in dressing and while it didn’t taste bad, it reminded me of something I would get at a chain restaurant. Squid ink pasta was just ok. I’ve had much better at other Nashville restaurants (Rolf and Daughters, Moto) for a lower price. The service is inconsistent - it feels pretentious and you feel pressured to order multiple courses. But at the same time, instead of seating dinners along the wall and in more intimate areas (as I would expect at a “high end” restaurant) they had 4 tables of guests crammed in center of restaurant and the rest of restaurant was empty. We’ve tried this restaurant several years ago and had a similar experience but given that it’s stayed in business with the openings of many new places, we assumed it had gotten better. Unfortunately, that is not the case and that will be my last visit. Too many other better priced restaurants with better atmospheres and much better food in Nashville.
My husband had the tagliatelle which was wonderful. I tried the pasta special and it had great flavor but it was extremely salty. The waiter was kind enough to deduct the dinner from our check without me asking! We definitely would go back again. Great service and lovely restaurant.
Really liked the decor and atmosphere of this restaurant, but was disappointed with the service as was fairly slow and little to no personality. Wrong dishes were also presented to two of the four of us. Calamari and caprese tomato & mozzarella appetizers were very tasty. Pasta dishes were good and served very hot.
Had a relaxing dinner. Veal piccatta with the best mashed potatoes ever! Also had angel hair pasta with marinara. Like being in Italy!
This is the best Italian restaurant in Nashville area.
The drinks are good, the wine list is impressive, and the service is professional.
The ambiance is inviting and the food is really good.
Try the veal, the pappardelle, the eggplant parmigiana, or the squid ink pasta with shrimp.
The desserts are also quite good.
We wanted some good Italian, and omg, this place tops the chart. Everything was fresh, the pasta cooked perfectly, I just can’t speak highly enough. A wonderful meal indeed. I only found it because it was on Open Table. Otherwise I’d never even known it existed, since I live in Mount Juliet. Will be back for sure! Our waitress was great too.
Our first time at this restaurant and it was amazing!
Pretentious and average food.
We love this restaurant! Best Italian food in Nashville with incredible service
Four years ago, our wedding reception was held at Giovanni's, and from the very beginning we bonded with the Giovanni family, as they made our reception experience almost magical! We return each year to commemorate our anniversary, and #4 was just as exceptional as #1! I don't stick my neck out often, hut I highly recommend this restaurant!!
Excellent as always. Looking forward to next trip.
Great atmosphere. Intimate but not secluded. Great service. Highly recommend this restaurant.
We liked it a lot.
Chris and the staff is great! Best restaurant in Nashville
Absolutely delicious food!!! We come here three times a year for birthday celebrations and are never disappointed.
My wife and I go out every Saturday night. I was told best Italian in Nashville. Being from Chicago that’s high praise. Well reaction is no don’t go. Artichoke salad oily and flavorless. The salami plate was deli meat thrown on a plate. The only shining star was the potato asparagus soup. Bolognese was to tart with not enough built flavor. Pasta Pappardelle was sticky and wrong size. Chicken was pan browned and to salty. Disappointed.
Always a stellar and satisfying choice. You can't go wrong by dining at Giovanni's.
One of our favorite restaurants in town. The food is outstanding and there are always several special offerings in addition to the great menu choices. Fantastic wine list and the service is class. A must for great Italian dining in a comfortable setting.
Great Italian food and awesome wine list! Ambiance is great and outstanding service as well!
Best Italian in Nashville, the veal piccata is wonderful the mashed potatoes are the best ever! We love the angel hair pasta and marinara. Tiramisu is awesome. Service is excellent.
Delicious and great service!!
Amazing from start to finish! I had the opportunity to share this gem of a restaurant with some co-workers from AL and they were very impressed. This was true Italian dining!
Great dinner. Very attentive staff and responsive to every need. Branzino and Osso Bucco were outstanding.
Great food, impeccable service, and a wonderfully quaint atmosphere.
My very Italian mother-in-law chose Giovanni’s after reviewing several Italian restaurants in Nashville. It was very authentic and so so good!
Great food and excellent service. We enjoy the veal and pasta. Lasagna is a favorite. The in house made bread sticks are yummy.
Out with my wife for a quiet evening. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Wonderful night.
The food was good, but not worth $180 for two people (salads, meals, one shared dessert and a glass of wine each). Even though the place was empty we sat all the way in the back corner.
We loved our upstairs table, looking down a the chandelier filled foyer. Really great eggplant parmigiana.
Everything was wonderful!
Our wedding reception dinner was held here in 2014 and without exception, Chris not only took care of us then, but every time we have dinner there, Chris makes us feel like family. This is the place for any occasion, and the food is unreal.... enjoy!
It’s my favorite restaurant in Nashville. Always my first choice. Excellent food, great service and all around awesome.
Nice restaurant with tasty food ... will return to visit regular menu. The Valentines selection was good but portions bordered on the small side.
Great dinner in the bar while we watched basketball. Best Italian in Nashville! Veal piccata was wonderful. Breadsticks are so good. Service is always friendly and attentive.
Our meal and service was outstanding. Each of the dishes were of classical origin, made of the best and freshest ingredients and prepared exquisitely. Pasta and sausage were all made in-house (like all of their recipe components). The service and delivery was of the best we have ever experienced.
Giovanni’s is absolutely one of the finest restaurants of any type in Nashville. It has no peer among Italian restaurants. Very fine food, wonderful ambiance, and impeccable service. We dine here frequently
Giovanni's is my new favorite Nashville restaurant! Everything about it was fantastic. The food was outstanding. If you want REAL Italian food, go to Giovanni's. The service was attentive and impeccable. The ambiance was quaint and felt authentic without being "stuffy" or contrived. I loved seeing families there with children, young adults on dates, older couples, college kids, and diners who are clearly regulars and know the staff. Everyone was happy to be there and really enjoyed the meal and the company in the restaurant. I plan to eat at Giovanni's every time I am in Nashville. If you crave Italian and authenticity, head to Giovanni's Midtown!
A fabulous meal. The veal and breadsticks were divine. Excellent waitress with great wine suggestions. Pricey, yes, but worth it.
Service was one of the best we’ve had food was perfect Ambience is a little loud so I would ask for a private room but I’ll definitely come back
