Giovanni's Ristorante - Mid Town Ratings and Reviews
The chef is excellent, the food could not be better. Service is attentive and the waiters are knowledgeable about the menu. We love the veal piccatta, tender and delicious. The pasta is excellent. The home made bread sticks are a superb. We rarely have room for dessert, but the Tiramisu is excellent.
Quality restaurant - high quality service, setting, and food. Waiters have just a slight attitude of arrogance -- enough to keep you on your toes and remind you that you are lucky to be there! Very responsive, and efficient. Food presentation and taste as highly satisfying as any place in Nashville. Well worth a visit.
First time visit, secured a Thanksgiving Day reservation since my family and I were in town. We chose the Thanksgiving meal instead of their standard Italian cuisine offerings. Portion on each plate was small, lukewarm and just unsubstantial for the cost . Felt like I was dining out on New Years Eve, where it is typical for restaurants to attach a high price for their entrees and under deliver in quality and service. Very disappointing, nice ambiance and location, but would be reluctant to return.
Nice evening out with friends. Sunday evening dinner was delicious, the pasta special was very good and the salads were fresh. The veal picatta was tender and the mashed potatoes are heavenly. We had tiramisu for dessert.
We enjoyed our meal at Giovanni's Ristorante. It is a quiet restaurant with a nice ambiance. The tagliatelle alla Bolognese was delicious! It was al dante and the sauce was wonderful. I would not recommend the lasagna, however. It sounded delicious on the menu, but it was definitely overcooked and a very small portion for the price. I would say, overall, that based on earlier reviews we were disappointed in the overall experience.
Went to to Giovanni Ristorante last night for the fourth or fifth time. It is by far the best Italian restaurant in Nashville and one of my favourites anywhere. I live in Italy and travel the world on business. The food is amazing and authentic, the wine list is superb and the service is professional.
The service was superb. The wine list was more than adequate. The menu was wonderful and the meals were all consumed with enthusiasm and vigor.
We were dining with clients and wanted a high end experience but easy to converse and with top end cuisine.
Loved the ambiance, and the food was spectacular. We had the filet, pappardelle, and ravioli dishes - all wonderful and SO fresh. The service was WONDERFUL. I couldn't find a babysitter for my friend's birthday outing, so my 10 month old came along. This is not the type of place I would suggest bringing an infant, however, the staff took it in stride. They were very kind and accommodating - and it turned out to be a wonderful experience!
Wonderful restaurant !!!! Chris and Nick were very attentive. I had the menu fish (a type of redfish) which was prepared outstandingly well. My wife had the lasagna. It had a great meat sauce and authentic thin Italian pasta. The wine list had a great selection. Be prepared, it's a little pricey. But overall one of my favorite Italian restaurants.
We found Giovanni's on OpenTable, I'd never heard of it before and that's unfortunate because the food was wonderful. I had the soup of the day, the veal and a chocolate mouse cake and my wife had the lasagna and a creme brulee. The food was excellent. The soup was simple, yet very flavorful, the veal was some of the best I've had and that cake was ridiculous, they should serve it with a pitcher of cold milk. I tried a couple of bites of the lasagna, the pasta was fantastic, it melted in your mouth and the overall flavor of the lasagna was really great as well.
The service was perfect. The server was friendly and made recommendations, the service was always prompt, but never overbearing. Our glasses always seemed to stay full, almost without even noticing the refill.
The wine list had a great selection, unfortunately we didn't have the time to sample it. Next time for sure.
If you like Italian food, you should give Giovanni's a shot, you won't be disappointed.
Overpriced, small portions with an unimpressive presentaion. We odered a tomato salad with gouda cheese for a starter which cost $16.75. It was barely one full beef steak tomato with a few gouda shavings. The waite staff didn't seem to know what was going on. The entire meal was a disappoinment.
Best Italian in Nashville. Love the veal picatta and the angel hair pasta with marinara. The artichokes are a great starter. The home made bread sticks are a great start to a fine dining experience. Service is attentive. Great experience.
