Absolutely delicious food!!! We come here three times a year for birthday celebrations and are never disappointed.
My wife and I go out every Saturday night. I was told best Italian in Nashville. Being from Chicago that’s high praise. Well reaction is no don’t go. Artichoke salad oily and flavorless. The salami plate was deli meat thrown on a plate. The only shining star was the potato asparagus soup. Bolognese was to tart with not enough built flavor. Pasta Pappardelle was sticky and wrong size. Chicken was pan browned and to salty. Disappointed.
Always a stellar and satisfying choice. You can't go wrong by dining at Giovanni's.
One of our favorite restaurants in town. The food is outstanding and there are always several special offerings in addition to the great menu choices. Fantastic wine list and the service is class. A must for great Italian dining in a comfortable setting.
Great Italian food and awesome wine list! Ambiance is great and outstanding service as well!
Best Italian in Nashville, the veal piccata is wonderful the mashed potatoes are the best ever! We love the angel hair pasta and marinara. Tiramisu is awesome. Service is excellent.
Delicious and great service!!
Amazing from start to finish! I had the opportunity to share this gem of a restaurant with some co-workers from AL and they were very impressed. This was true Italian dining!
Great dinner. Very attentive staff and responsive to every need. Branzino and Osso Bucco were outstanding.
Great food, impeccable service, and a wonderfully quaint atmosphere.
My very Italian mother-in-law chose Giovanni’s after reviewing several Italian restaurants in Nashville. It was very authentic and so so good!
Great food and excellent service. We enjoy the veal and pasta. Lasagna is a favorite. The in house made bread sticks are yummy.
Out with my wife for a quiet evening. Very pleasant and enjoyable. Wonderful night.
We loved our upstairs table, looking down a the chandelier filled foyer. Really great eggplant parmigiana.
Everything was wonderful!
Our wedding reception dinner was held here in 2014 and without exception, Chris not only took care of us then, but every time we have dinner there, Chris makes us feel like family. This is the place for any occasion, and the food is unreal.... enjoy!
It’s my favorite restaurant in Nashville. Always my first choice. Excellent food, great service and all around awesome.
Nice restaurant with tasty food ... will return to visit regular menu. The Valentines selection was good but portions bordered on the small side.
Great dinner in the bar while we watched basketball. Best Italian in Nashville! Veal piccata was wonderful. Breadsticks are so good. Service is always friendly and attentive.
Our meal and service was outstanding. Each of the dishes were of classical origin, made of the best and freshest ingredients and prepared exquisitely. Pasta and sausage were all made in-house (like all of their recipe components). The service and delivery was of the best we have ever experienced.
Giovanni’s is absolutely one of the finest restaurants of any type in Nashville. It has no peer among Italian restaurants. Very fine food, wonderful ambiance, and impeccable service. We dine here frequently
Giovanni's is my new favorite Nashville restaurant! Everything about it was fantastic. The food was outstanding. If you want REAL Italian food, go to Giovanni's. The service was attentive and impeccable. The ambiance was quaint and felt authentic without being "stuffy" or contrived. I loved seeing families there with children, young adults on dates, older couples, college kids, and diners who are clearly regulars and know the staff. Everyone was happy to be there and really enjoyed the meal and the company in the restaurant. I plan to eat at Giovanni's every time I am in Nashville. If you crave Italian and authenticity, head to Giovanni's Midtown!
A fabulous meal. The veal and breadsticks were divine. Excellent waitress with great wine suggestions. Pricey, yes, but worth it.
Service was one of the best we’ve had food was perfect Ambience is a little loud so I would ask for a private room but I’ll definitely come back
Excellent service and perfectly executed dishes. Everything was well timed and service was on point yet unobtrusive. Great Italian restaurant.
The food is superbly prepared each and every time I visit. The service is gracious and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is tasteful and the seating comfortable. It is one of our favorite places and is consistently top drawer.
We had a wonderful Italian dinner celebrating my husbands Birthday! Service is attentive and the food is fabulous!
AWESOME!!! The food and service were both spectacular. I had the tagliatelle and bolognese was flavorful and filling. My wife’s lasagna was the best she’s ever eaten. Excellent wine list. Be sure to cap off you meal with the limoncello. This was our 30th wedding anniversary and we couldn’t have been more pleased.
We love dining here. Best Italian food in Nashville. The service is attentive and the waiters are knowledgeable. The veal picatta is our favorite, pastas are excellent.
Giovanni's was simply amazing. We let our waiter pick all dishes, including the wine and we were not disappointed. The food and atmosphere were simply amazing. Will become a regular spot when traveling to Nashville.
Great service and food that makes you parabolic. Highly recommended.
Excellent service and the best Italian food in Nashville. We love the artichoke appetizer, home made bread sticks and the veal is delicious, the pastas are very good!
Wonderful service, Best Italian in Nashville. Pasta, veal and seafood selections are great and always perfectly prepared. We love the veal piccata and mashed potatoes!
Staff was very friendly and service was great, food was very good but prices were extremely high for quantity of food. Example Cheese plate appetizer was $19 and it has like 9 small pieces of cheese. Entree was very tasty but small portion.
My wife and I found this restaurant very pleasant. The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. It has a nice ambiance and a classy old-time feeling.
Our family usually has a nice family dinner out on Christmas Eve and we were excited for an experience here. Upon arriving we felt so welcome and everyone was so nice. They immediately brought us to our table and the manager greeted us and wished us a merry Christmas. After That’s when things took a turn, we were there for almost 3 hours and I still have not a clue who our server was or what anyone’s name who took care of us was. We had 3-4 servers I assume since one took our drink order, one brought us water and, another took our food order. I have a 5 month old daughter who was doing awesome for already having had a busy day and knew we may be pushing her a bit, expecting that dinner would probably be done within 1.5 to 2 hours. Our food did not hit the table until we had been there for 2 hours, after asking someone where our food was, needless to say our baby was starting to get fussy. No one communicated with us or came by to let us know that our food should be out shortly. We were unable to get drink refills as between the 3-4 people serving us not one came by to offer anything . We also had an appetizer that my brother in law ordered that never came out. Unfortunately, after 2.5 hours my husband and I had to get our underwhelmed food wrapped as we had to get our baby home. The entire family was starving by the time our food came out, and everyone ate quickly as some family members had to ride home in our car. For a table of 8 adults, with drinks and meals our bill was close to $1,000 and we were extremely disappointed. Even after my father in law let the server know we were upset and needed our check no one came by to talk to us. I hope this review helps this restaurant organize their staff and help any future customers with having a good experience as the ambiance is beautiful and the restaurant has potential to be amazing for a family.
Giovanni’s is perhaps my favorite Italian restaurant in Nashville, if not my favorite restaurant.
We booked our reservation for a Christmas Eve dinner, our fourth time. First of all, the ambiance and decor of the restaurant is beautiful and classy. The service is always impeccable, knowledgeable without being intrusive. The wine list is varied with wines from around the world. The menu is classic northern Italian, lots of apps, salads, pastas and entrees.
We started with calamari, crispy tasty and a decent sized portion. Our entrees consisted of squid ink pasta with shrimp and veal scaloppine. Moderate portions, but prepared to perfection. The veal tender enough to cut with a fork and the squid ink pasta, pungent and tasty with the shrimp added as a nice touch. Although full, we chose the chocolate lava cake, outstanding.
As many other reviews have mentioned, the restaurant is pricey, but for me, the service , the quality of the food and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant makes this place worth the visit and I have visited a dozen times or more. One other thing, the in house limoncello is worth the trip alone.
One of my favorite Nashville restaurants...great food and ambience for the price!
Our favorite restaurant in Nashville. Traditional northern Italian fare, fresh ingredients, beautifully prepared. Attentive staff in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The experience and the great food keep us coming back. Highly recommend!!
