Great service and amazing food. Highly recommend.
Took excellent care of us for my wife’s birthday.
Wonderful night. Really good ambiance. Octopus starter was delicious as was salmon and squid ink pasta.
Beautiful location, amazing food and incredible service! Hopefully we’ll be back to Nashville again soon and can enjoy another dinner here!
This is our place of choice to celebrate anything and “just because. “
Giovanni is the epitome of Old world Italian and the atmosphere that embraces more like family than friend.
Try any veal dish or their bolognese for a taste of Tuscany authentic. The service is impeccable. I only wish they had a Brentwood location.
Everything was delicious!
Great food, good service, excellent wine list.
As always Chris and the team were excellent
Very good as always
All was perfect as always!!!
We got the recommendation from the concierge at our hotel to go here. We were seated and not given any menus to start. We were then given a drink menu without a food menu. We were asked what we wanted to drink. I am the type of person that likes to know what I am eating before I order a drink so they are complimentary. We had to ask for dinner menus which were provided however seemed to slightly upset the server. We ordered wine and were served while waiting to hear the specials. Then the head waiter came over standing over us and quickly informed us in a very low tone and condescending manner the specials of the night. Due to his relatively think accent we only got about 50% of what he said. I would have asked him to repeat himself but the damage was done. We finished our wine and left. If you want people to eat at your restaurant act like you want them there not like they are a waste of your time.
We had the best time. It was a dinner meeting and we enjoyed great food and incredible service. The pace of service was perfect for us and each of us loved our food. I highly recommend.
Food was great but service was terrible. The manager made us feel uncomfortable as well as his wait staff. We waited over 20 minutes before he even greeted us and by greeted I mean what do you want to drink and that was it. Our second waiter was nice but the manager could get a personality.
Always an enjoyable experience and certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Menu was small and options were relatively few. Staff was great at making accommodations for food issues. Portions were small. Everything is a la cart and very pricey. Salmon was tasty but skin was not crispy.
While visiting Nashville was able to get a reservations and wanted to try Giovanni's as it had been recommended by a co-worker. It did not disappoint, great experience, great service and the food was amazing. Look forward to my next trip to Nashville when I can go have another amazing meal!
Food was outstanding. However the service was extremely slow.
This was our first time at Giovanni’s so the only expectation we had was from locals telling us we had chosen well. The minute we walked in, service was over the top. Each course was perfectly timed and we were never rushed. The menu selections were varied and the food outstanding. We will recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Nashville!
A nice look to the restaurant. We looked at the wine list and found it to be 5-8x retail pricing making wine there ridiculously priced . For instance a Masi Amarone we get normally for $55 in a store was $390 on their list We got the assorted cheese appetizer for $19. And it was less than an ounce of cheese with a pepper jam that really overpowered the cheese When we ordered I was deciding between the chicken scarpiello and the veal lombarda. The waiter suggested the chicken. So I asked for the chicken. 10 minutes later he asked how I wanted the veal cooked. And I said like chicken scarpiello. 15 minutes later I was served a veal dish. After sending it back the maitre d came and apologized and ordered the proper dish. And even comped it. The eggplant parmigiana was very good as was the chicken once served. If pricing is not an issue than an enjoyable meal.
Great food and service, as always. Service was attentive
I can say that the food was delicious; however, we were ignored thru our entire dinner experience. We certainly did not fit the profile of the folks that seem to frequent the establishment. Our skin shade was a bit too dark for their liking.
It was sad to have felt that way.
We were thoroughly unimpressed with Giovanni's. From the moment we arrived, the poor bartender, who was also serving the restaurant as well as the bar, was so frazzled it took quite a while to get a drink. Nice enough man, but way overworked and that's the restaurant's fault, not his! When you're putting lemon twists in a dirty martini...well enough said. The hostess was lovely, very sweet and accommodating...a bright spot in my dim review. We were seated and our waiter came over. We brought our own wine and paid the $35 corking fee. We refuse to purchase wine out any longer in Nashville with the 4x retail markups. We started with the burrata and balsamic. Even though tasty, it was more like regular mozzarella as it just wasn't creamy enough. Also, the serving size was very small. My husband ordered a salad and the wait staff was constantly trying to take it away. He began hiding it by his napkin so they'd leave it. For dinner, I had the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, which was a good serving size but just okay and not very hot. My husband had the linguini with clams special, which was loaded with littleneck clams and garlic but sadly my husband said it lacked seasoning. The waiter, who's name I'll leave out, was literally away from us all night. We ordered coffee, espresso, and dessert after our meal, with the runner, as again no waiter to be found. The coffee came but no dessert. The espresso tasted like regular coffee and wasn't very hot. We waited, we waited, we waited for our dessert and nothing. Couldn't find our waiter. Runner staff was busy. Sigh. I want my dessert with my coffee, please. Finally, my husband got up to speak to an older gentleman, who I believe was the head runner? Dressed in a nice suit jacket that obviously hadn't been cleaned in a long time as the body odor emanating from this gentleman was awful. They took off the dessert from our bill. You missed the mark big time Giovanni's.
Great restaurant. Old school Italian look, feel and taste. We will be back.
Nice for an 50th Anniversary.
Great staff service nice variety for vegetarians and great extensive wine list. I will return.
Giovani downtown, is by far, the best gourmet Italian Restaurant in town. Make sure you ask Chris to help you order, both the wines and the food. He really knows his stuff!!!
Pasta was phenomenal. I had the veal and sausage Bolognese and my wife had the sausage and mushroom pasta with truffle oil. Both dishes were delicious.
Awesome place, super atmosphere, great service, highly recommend
Very nice atmosphere, service and food was outstanding.
Set next to mirrors, very dark, hard to even see menu, seem lights were dimmed way to much
Marvelous restaurant! I felt like I was in New York or Chicago at a favorite place to eat. Comfortable, clean, and food that delight your tastebuds.
This is hands down one of the best italian restaurants we have ever eaten at...trust me we make it a priority to dine at what is considered to be the top rated Italian restaurants wherever we have traveled and we have found a rare few that gets our OMG...this is one of those...from the ambiance..waite staff to the food and drinks..superb! You won't be disappointed with your dining experience.
My favorite restaurant in Nashville. Always great food and great service.
As usual, it was a great lunch experience! I had the Veal with a side of fettuccini and it was cooked to perfection. I was with 2 other guests and it was their first experience at Giovanni's and they enjoyed the asparagus risotto very much. To be fair, if you want things prepared correctly, it is really not a place to go when you are pushed for time. It is meant to be a relaxed dining experience and as long as you have that attitude, I doubt you will ever be disappointed.
Make sure you request not to be placed upstairs along the rail, they are busting tables at that location it’s very impersonal
Wonderful first visit.
It will be one we will frequent when in Nashville
Lasagna and Veal were excellent
Service was top notch
Fantastic meal - great food and service. Cannot recommend enough.
Joe, our waiter, was fantastic. Been going there for years, and always get the bolognese - the best you'll ever get around here!
The food is amazing! Very nice ambiance. Staff is very nice and attentive.
