We've enjoyed dining at Giovanni's once in a while over the years. We truly believe it is one of the best restaurants in the Detroit area. We travel now over an hour to get there. While we understand quality dining is a treat we were surprised at the charge for a "specials" entree, well above the listed price of any of the printed menu items. I do not begrudge the charge but would have been most grateful to have the charge included with the entree description so I could have factored it into my decision.

What a gem, third time there and does not disappoint, I think it only gets better. Great cocktail, salad and entree, veal piccata with artichoke hearts as an add. Can’t get back there from Toledo fast enough!

Food was fabulous. I had the lasagna which I enjoyed but was so huge that I took home over half of it. It was delicious but different from most lasagnas I have had… it’s layered with cheese and lots of sauce. If you like it with meat like I do they offer meatballs or sausage for a extra charge. No problem but just different. My husband had the veal which he loved and finished the entire thing. No room for dessert this visit but the dessert tray looked amazing. Oh and my dirty martini was yummy and my husband had the Northern Manhattan which he said was a very nice pour.

What I always hope for in a dining experience has always been met and surpassed each time I've been to Giovanni's. But last night was simply head and shoulders above any previous visit. It was a special night for my two daughters and I, and we simply were thrilled at each moment. The two of them were taken by the ambience, the charm and kindness of the entire staff. The drinks were delicious, and our food...well, it was perfect. Our hostess, Erin was beyond fantastic. So much so, that from this moment on, I will be asking for her to be "our person". Charming, kind, attentive and helpful only begin to describe her. We were also treated to speaking with Kimmy on not one, but two occasions who made certain to talk with us and apologize about not being able to secure the table that I had requested...but let's face it, the table we had was perfect. My daughters and I decided last night that for special occasions for the three of us (and we were celebrating my eldest's birthday last night) Giovanni's will be our destination. If you are reading these words and looking for something that will help yo make a decision to visit this gem, my hope is this review will do the trick. I love Giovanni's and I know you will, too. I cannot wait to go back.

My lobster and shrimp pasta dish was terrible. It was a “special” but not good. They added fatty smoked bacon which was terrible and a tiny piece of lobster which had no taste. Everything else was good except the entree.

Went there for the second time in about an 8 day span. Brought relatives from Chicago that are very familiar with fine dining. We all loved the evening we spent there and of course the food was all outstanding. We love this restaurant and hope it will always be there for us.
