What could be better in cleveland? Nothing is as elegant or delicious as Giovanni’s. Four of us loved our dinner: pecan crusted salmon, vegetable lasagna, scallops and short ribs. The roasted cauliflower salad was a rare treat. Don’t save G’s for special occasions only. It is too good for just a once a year experience.
Giovanni's is always great with good service and attention to detail. They have an amazing wine list and their food options and preparation are incredible. Definitely one of my/our favorites in all of Cleveland.
Excellent service. Wonderfully creative seasonal items. Excellent mainstays.
Amazing food and service!!
Best place in town
My wife and I enjoy our time spent here...gracious hosts, great food, and wonderful service; what more can you ask for? The cod cipriani and shrimp genovese were perfectly prepared and presented. I am very comfortable in the environment of the dining room; I have hearing loss but was able to have a conversation without too much effort although the room was quite busy this Saturday night. Giovanni's is not for people on limited budgets, but if you can afford id, it is well worth it! It is superior to most of the fine restaurants we have dined at in Manhattan.
Upon arrival Maitre d was pleasant and took us to our suites immediately. Looking over the drink menu my wife had a glass of Champagne and I had the 007 perfect Martini. The description on the martini had Castelvetrano olives on it. Generic Pitted Queen olives were used.. We decided on the chefs selection of interesting things and then the Deviled egg appetizer special. Both were quite good. The Chefs platter included some lovely headcheese, cheeses, pickled veggies, whipped ricotta. There also was a bit of Greens, shaved fennel and radish - they were tossed with not a hint of oil vinegar or seasoning. Every time we manage to get platters such as this at restaurants they never give enough crostini, bread and or crackers. Again was the case. No matter the ingredients were quite good.
We selected a 110.00 bottle of Staglin Cabernet. Was wondering why the Maitre 'd did the wine service for the 3 lawyers next to us and our server stumbled though ours. He neglected to have any type of towel to wipe the drops from the bottle as they fell onto the table. Holding the bottle from the necks is also a no- no.
My wife decided on the scallops and I had the Veal scaloppini. Both were average to below average as they surely spent some time under a heat lamp in the kitchen. The 5 scallops while quite flavorful were awfully overcooked. The cauliflower was tasty. My 5-6 ounces of sautéed veal medallions for 42.00 was an embarrassment. The veal was grey in color with a bit of raw flour coating still on one side. The potato cake was soggy leftover potatoes and the butter sauce had separated . The sautéed spinach was bland and under seasoned. Presentation left quite a bit to be desired with this dish.
Our server was quite pleasant. Water was filled throughout the service.
No one crumbed the table between courses. I would have expected this from all of the talk of phenomenal service. Unfortunately there are many more venues that are not so overpriced and serving mediocre foods.
Great food, excellent service!
Always great food, amazing service, and excellent ambiance. You can’t go wrong with Giovanni’s!!!!
Giovanni's never fails to impress. Superb food, outstanding wine list. Attentive service without being obsequious. This is what one expects from a five star meal destination.
Bone in Veal Scallopini with capellini and cheese was to die for. Halibut was fresh, perfectly prepared. Wedge salad and Burrata were delicious.
That being said, my criticisms, while not earth shaking, are pertinent to a restaurant of Giovanni's caliber and reputation.
Requested a quiet corner table - we're seated in high profile center location. No open corner tables noted when we were seated.
Asked if it was a special occasion. Noted in reservation that it was a birthday. Absolutely no mention of a celebration was made.
Nothing on the desert menu was appealing to us. That is until after we got our check and we saw a neighboring table being served Bananas Foster - Which was not on the desert menu. Don't know if you have to be in the know that Bananas Foster is a request only item? But they lost a desert order from us over this unfortunate oversight.
Everything was exceptional! From the greeting, to the seating and of course the quality of the service, food and the wine selections. Truly a wonderful dining experience and one that will be repeated again and again.
We had a fabulous dinner with impeccable service. This genuine Italian restaurant has changed only the interior in 40 years. The bar is fabulous and the dinning experience it top in Cleveland. Don’t change a thing!
As always, an outstanding evening at Cleveland's Premier Gourmet Italian Restaurant
The Wedding soup was perfect. The staff very attentive and both my husband and I enjoyed a wonderful tasty meal. I loved that they had a "lounge" menu as well as the regular dinner menu. The wine steward gave an excellent recommendation. I do regret not asking to sit in the dining room instead of the lounge, we had early (5pm) reservations, as the meal progressed the lounge area got a little noisy due to happy hour. All and all we will go to Giovanni's again but make later reservations. I do believe had I asked they would have moved us.
Beautiful place, excellent food, impeccable service
As a fan of fine dining I have dined at the best restaurant established throughout the world! Giovanni's ranks in my top 3 for sure!!! Food, service and ambience is top notch--always!
Always wonderful food, service and experience.
Excellent evening out, always a winner, never disappointed. I love this place,

Food and service excellent. Very professional. Cold not ask for more.
Giovannis has been a favorite of our for years. The food is excellent, the environment beautiful and the service makes for a special night. Veal parm is huge, pasta is fresh, cod and scallops were tasty and flavors were excellent.
We love Giovanni’s. This is our special date spot.
Great food and atmosphere, but did not have pre requested accommodations satisfied.
The Maitre’D Pierre is what makes Giovannis special.
Great service! Great food!!! Will be back again
it was not my first time in this place, overrated. It was severely overbooked for the Valentine date, and we start eating 2 hours after our reservation time. Appetizers were just ok, not exceptional, but the main course were very tasty, and it was comforting overall.
Giovanni's is an annual tradition on Valentine's Day for me and my wife. This was the first time (in over 20 visits) that I would say I was disappointed in the service. The food was excellent, as usual, but what typically sets Giovanni's apart from other restaurants in its class is the impeccable service. On this evening, our waiter was unfamiliar with the specials, couldn't answer questions about the menu, and failed to properly debit the gift card we had before charging our CC for the balance owed. When his error was pointed out, he was unapologetic and shrugged his shoulders while saying "the check is already closed, you can use the rest of the gift card next time." Really rubbed us the wrong way, as it seemed like a mistake that could have been corrected easily. Now we are left to keep track of a gift card with a small balance (<$20) until next year.
Giovanni’s has absolutely outstanding food. The wine list is excellent, and includes whites and reds from the US, Italy, and France. The wait staff was attentive, and service was excellent. The restaurant is large but not noisy. Reservations are recommended. Giovanni’s is upscale and relatively pricey, but very much worth it!
While we dine at Giovanni's on a regular basis. This night we were greeted by owner Carl Q. himself and led to our table by Matre'd Pierre. Our veal entrees and salads were superior. Bartender made a perfect JW Black Rob Roy and we had an excellent French Bordeaux recommended by Pierre. The highlight of the dinner was the Zabaione dessert made table side by Pierre. This classic Italian cuisine restaurant has been a 5-Star hallmark in the Cleveland area for decades and every time we dine here the quality of service and food reminds us why.
The food and ambiance can’t be beat. I ordered the veal parmesan, and my husband ordered the pork chop. Everything was delicious and the portion size is huge. The chocolate gelato for dessert is a must. It was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Tonya was our server. She was friendly, kind, and very attentive. Everything was fantastic. We will be back!
Giovanni's was better than expected. Everyone was professional, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The tastes on my complex salmon dish were wonderfully distinctive. The marinara sauce was fresh yet steeped with flavor.
The food here is always top notch. Great selection and presentation. Highly recommend coming here.
Our second visit in 2 days! Giovanni's was recommended to us and it certainly is a great place!! We will return and will recommend to all our friends. Our meals were fantastic, service excellent, and atmosphere is welcoming.
The lounge at Giovanni's has a fun atmosphere and the food, as always, was wonderful. The service is attentive and the lounge menu has options for dinner a less expensive prices than the main dining room menu. I always request a table in the lounge.
Brought a friend here who had a negative impression of Giovanni's from many years ago. He was very impressed and I was able to convince him of Giovanni's excellence.
Took my daughter before the daddy daughter dance and they were fantastic with her!
The food was delicious. It was my first time dining there and it won’t be my last.
Always delicious! Classic fine dining. If you want a special meal this is your spot.
We had made a reservation that happened to coincide with a snow storm. We were able to go earlier than expected and due to weather conditions, the restaurant was quieter than expected. Tonja was our server and she did a wonderful job of being attentive without being intrusive. She made sure my food allergies were accommodated. Food was fantastic. Ordered more menu items than usual as this was our first time and had heard their menu items were wonderful . We brought leftovers home which were just as delicious as the first time. It was a lovely quiet evening with good food and great conversation with my husband.
The service was outstanding at Giovanni’s during my recent visit (lunch with a friend). Our server was perfectly attentive but not hovering. The atmosphere is elegant and the tables are well spaced to allow for conversation without having to overhear neighboring tables’. The food is excellent, fresh and nicely plated. The menu might be a little predictable, not terrifically innovative, but exceptionally well executed dishes. I would definitely recommend Giovannis for a great meal, elegant atmosphere and wonderful service!
Absolutely wonderful. Will dine there again soon.
