Clásico old world Italian. Needs theme from Godfather playing in background. Food has never been anything but delicious.
Made lunch reservation because of the proximity to The Met. The food and service was excellent, and the prix fixe lunch was a bargain for the quality.
Great place for a quiet and special dinner. Great food, excellent service, wonderful ambiance.
Lovely setting for a civilized, beautifully prepared excellent dinner.
the food selection and quality are always excellent here. With over 30 dinners we have never had a bad meal here. A neighborhood gem
Second time dining here. Very convenient place to eat after spending day at The Met. Food portions are not large, but just enough to finish and feel satisfied and not have to ask for a take home for a portion of leftovers. Prices are a little high for the amount of food you get, but the food was plated nicely and tasted good. They did not rush our meal either which I liked very much.
Delicious prefixe lunch - the pasta portions are modest but oh so delicious!
A traditional Italian restaurant near the Met Museum, Neue Gallery, Madison Avenue shopping. Holiday weekend Saturday noon lunch. Reasonably priced Prix fixe only. Bland warm asparagus soup. Fine arugula salad with blue cheese, mushrooms. Good veal Marsala with mushrooms and very good calf’s liver, both with an old fashioned scoop of mashed potatoes. Tiramisu wasn’t ready so had a scoop of rich dark chocolate ice cream. Good wine list.
Valentines Day dinner after a day at the Met. Decent food but terribly overpriced. Pre-fix pricing with one glass of wine came to over $100 per person. Would not recommend
This is a congenial and welcoming small restaurant in New York's upper East side. the atmosphere is perfect for relaxed conversation and civilized dining. the dishes are classic Italian, beautifully prepared.
Spectacular menu/wine list. Biggest problem is figuring out what to order. Everything served is stellar, right down to the toast in the bread basket. All pastas are home made. All available gluten-free. Mouth watering fish, veal and seafood. A word of caution: This excellence is pricey.
The food and the service were outstanding. The prix fixe menu was wonderful. The waiters were perfectly attentive.
Wonderful service. Waiter was timely with service but wasn’t hovering. Food was amazing. Will do again. Wonderful Caccio e a Pasta.
Owner appears to be very biased against anyone who does not fit the profile of his geriatric, privileged and Caucasian upper east side clientele and this attitude translates to many of his staff. Interesting that places like this exist in this day and age in NYC.
Very good service but it was definitely overpriced
Great neighborhood spot. Reliably delicious well prepared food. Old world service. Never a bad step.
Considerate and very professional staff. Excellent food
From the moment you set foot in the restaurant you step into Italy.
Superb classic Italian cuisine. Their excellent chef mixes high quality ingredients into flavorful, yet delicate, dishes.
The grilled portobello mushrooms were simultaneously meaty, delicate & flavorful. The burrata caprese with basil were a perfect reminder of summer just before Christmas!
The veal Marsala & fegato al balsamico were again examples of delicate flavorful cooking.
I wish we could have tasted the squid-ink pasta with calamari & grilled sea bass.
The wine selection is excellent & priced correctly.
The desserts were perfectly made & satisfying.
I strongly recommend it.
Old style Italian restaurant - great food, space between tables (YAY), good service. Definitely will be back!
Authentic Italian restaurant with excellent service and pleasant surroundings. A place where adults can meet and have a real conversation without being drowned out by loud music and talk.
Was rated high but, clearly a huge disappointment. Beet Gnocchi was ok, not exceptional. Special was just ok. Artichoke apple, just ok. Wine, ok. Pasta, ok. Seriously the most average dinner ever but my bill was like I had eaten at a 5 star restaurant!
My food arrived cold. The potatoes tasted as if they were instant. $46 for 3 small circles of veal!
An outstanding Northern Italian restaurant housed in an E. 83d St. townhouse just a block away from the Metropolitan Museum. Outstanding menu + exquisite daily specials causes customer crisis in trying to decide what to order. Lovely wine list. Superb wait staff. A definite return-to location.
This a sweet little restaurant with beautiful authentic Italian food. My branzino was amazing. We had a nice Chianti which was very good and very reasonable. I will definitely dine here again.
Great food and service and just a block from the Met...can't go wrong!
Excellent food in a nice quiet atmosphere
I will certainly return.
Took a first date to this cozy, elegant place. The food was excellent and service very attentive. Good selection of red wine. Def. recommended!
Superb neighborhood gem with a cozy townhouse feel. One block from the Met Museum. Exquisite pastas, beautiful fish and veal, excellent wine list. This one goes on your permanent list!
Giovanni’s is always exceptional. Food, wine, service and atmosphere are the best. The price is as expected for 93rd St, a block off 5th Ave.
The food here is absolutely delicious. My favorite is your crab cake appetizer. Fresh crabmeat and not stuffed with breading and other fillers. All of our main dishes were nicely presented and tasty. The Italian chardonnay we had was outstanding. The chocolate gelato however could be brought down a notch with the chocolate flavor. It was good but a little too rich. The service was excellent and we were not rushed. Our friends and me and my husband got to have relaxing evening with good table conversation and great food ! We will definitely be back soon !
We always make a point of eating here during our frequent stays in NYC and have never been disappointed. The house-made pastas are authentic classics. Veal is a special treat. If you like “old school”, authentic Italian cooking in the best sense, you will be delighted. Espresso and biscotti to follow. Never have room for dessert so can’t vouch for that.
Service is correct and warm.
Seemed tables were more crowded together, waiters nice but busy- had to ask for cheese/pepper for pasta, water glasses not refilled, one dessert forgotten, etc.
Food, however, good as usual.
The recommended dishes were excellently prepared a fine dining experience. I liked the feel of it being a quaint neighborhood find. The cocktails were very well prepared which was a surprise because I wasn’t expecting a first rate bartender who knew how to make a dry martini and a lemon drop martini that was not sweet. I would definitely go back the next time in the area.
Wonderful food and service. A true treat.
A little expensive but worth a good experience. Everything was terrific.
