The food here is absolutely delicious. My favorite is your crab cake appetizer. Fresh crabmeat and not stuffed with breading and other fillers. All of our main dishes were nicely presented and tasty. The Italian chardonnay we had was outstanding. The chocolate gelato however could be brought down a notch with the chocolate flavor. It was good but a little too rich. The service was excellent and we were not rushed. Our friends and me and my husband got to have relaxing evening with good table conversation and great food ! We will definitely be back soon !
We always make a point of eating here during our frequent stays in NYC and have never been disappointed. The house-made pastas are authentic classics. Veal is a special treat. If you like “old school”, authentic Italian cooking in the best sense, you will be delighted. Espresso and biscotti to follow. Never have room for dessert so can’t vouch for that.
Service is correct and warm.
Seemed tables were more crowded together, waiters nice but busy- had to ask for cheese/pepper for pasta, water glasses not refilled, one dessert forgotten, etc.
Food, however, good as usual.
The recommended dishes were excellently prepared a fine dining experience. I liked the feel of it being a quaint neighborhood find. The cocktails were very well prepared which was a surprise because I wasn’t expecting a first rate bartender who knew how to make a dry martini and a lemon drop martini that was not sweet. I would definitely go back the next time in the area.
Wonderful food and service. A true treat.
A little expensive but worth a good experience. Everything was terrific.
Hate being in a frantic tourist spot restaurant? Love a sophisticated menu with many fresh specials of the day? This is a wonderful neighborhood spot. This is the authentic Italian not geared for the tourists but for people who want an outstanding meal in a place not too loud for a conversation and with impeccable service. It is a little pricey but well worth it. Fresh cooked prepared with care and presented beautifully.
A hidden gem which surpasses in all respects anything in the neighborhood.
Excellent meals and attentive service. Neighborhood gem. Had Dover Sole and bottle of Orvieto wine. Our go to place in the neighborhood
Food was delicious - very quaint restaurant
It’s one of the best restaurants works for both a nice family meal or a special occasion.
Impeccable old works service. Accommodating to make any dish you are in the mood for even if it’s not on the menu !
We stopped in after spending all day walking around Central Park and the Met. It was a wonderful end to the day! The restaurant is small, expensive, but relaxed. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. Our school aged children were treated respectfully, and not at all unwelcome. The food was excellent. We had three of the specials plus the linguine alle vongole, and each were different flavors, but equally delicious. The portions were just right. I would recommend this restaurant anyone seeking a fine Italian dinner without stuffiness (but don’t mind paying for it).
Staff was very accommodating and food was all great. Only negative was that thought it was somewhat overpriced. Had a very enjoyable dinner!
Good neighborhood Italian Food is always good and room is cozy.
A perfect italian meal that meets all expectations without the pretense or fussiness of places offering a similar quality meal. Ill be back regularly.
Horrible. The waiter speaks little english. We ordered salmon. We got branzino. My profile says no beans/legumes we were served no sides. The mushroom appetizer wasn’t even one full size portobello. We has to ask for vegetables. Portions minuscule. Expensive. No food. I was starving afterwards. We went to another restaurant after. Truly ruined our celebration. It was deserted. No wonder.
friendly staff soup was not hot but food was very good !
Great restaurant. Everyone enjoyed starters, pasta and desserts. Great options of wine by the glass. Very accommodating staff who customized some of our choices. Only downside was a very loud man at the next table. Once he left, the sound level became moderate and we loved the restaurant. We will return and hope Mr. Loud stays away.
Very good food and service. Look forward to going back.
Spectacular! This pretty well sums it up! Exquisite daily specials, memorable presentation, superb service, lovely wine list, and a varied menu to please everyone, all set in a cozy townhouse just down the street from the Met Museum.
Really enjoyed our time. The service was excellent and our host was very attentive to our comfort. Food was delicious. It was not noisy on a Saturday night and we were not rushed. Would absolutely recommend Giovanni Venticinque for a lovely dinner.
They need a desert menu and drink menu with price transparent to customers. Food are good but overpriced for the quality.
Food was decent but definitely not worth the prices. Service was slow. They automatically added 20% tip (for a party of 3!), which I feel they did not deserve.
Birthday lunch before visiting the Met. There is a prix fixe lunch for $29 (pasta as an entree) or $38 (meat or fish). Choices are good and the food is nicely prepared. Service is excellent! It was not crowded so noise was not an issue. We want to go back for dinner.
We, as a family of four love this spot. They are attentive and sweet and the food is so fresh and authenticity Italian. They are also INCREDIBLE with dealing with our oldest sons numerous and sever food allergies! Love it there!
Classic Italian restaurant with updated menu. Atmosphere is first class, including decor, layout, and spacing of tables. Service included modifying menu items to suit the taste of the individual customer.
Upper east side location in residential environment adds to its attractiveness. Agreeable and quiet clients
Best unsung Italian food in NYC. Family feel and perfect service. Authentic taste and ambience
great place to eat after viewing the art at the Met or the Neue
This neighborhood gem consistently delivers outstanding meals in a refined atmosphere. The food here is on a par with the very best restaurants in town. Yet, perhaps because it attracts an elderly crowd and is not “hip” it rarely is crowded. I am of two minds here. While I am delighted to keep it as an undiscovered gem, the staff here deserves a sellout every night. And what a pleasure to go to a restaurant in which it is actually possible to have a conversation! One point of interest—there is a glassed in room which is sold out to one patron and is never made available to the other clientele. I sometimes see him and am told that he just insists that this room always be available for him.
Good food, typical Italian slow to serve professional waiters and way over priced for food.
It was wonderful as always. I bring all my friends here and they love and return to it.
We had a delicious 3 course lunch! Service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience
The ultimate Go To Italian on the UES...menu changes keep it interesting with every visit.
Service was excellent, food was authentic. Honestly, nothing bad to say about this place. Also, for those who enjoy foreign languages, the waiters speak Spanish and Italian
The lunch prix fixe is quite generous . The service is very attentive . The only flaw was the slightly over-cooked pasta .
Excellent food. Warm, friendly , efficient service
The best pasta Bolognrse in NYC. Yum. A special occasion treat.
What a find! Delicious food.
Spaghetti cacio e pepe was perfection as was the mushroom soup and veal dishes.
I would highly recommend.
