Great all around.
Great for kids!
Amazing food and staff is perfect! Family restaurant with great service!
Amazing as always. Jess and Meg are best ever.
Our experience was wonderful. I took my boyfriend here for Valentine’s Day. Exceptional service, great food, and a lovely environment. Will definitely be returning!
It’s overpriced New York style pizza with horrible servers who don’t pack all the food up after.
My friend had an allergic reaction there after specifically calling out his medical issue.
Gioia never disappoints, and not just because the pizzas are perfectly made with delicious toppings. The antipasti and secondi are creative and satisfying, too. It’s hard not to order the whole menu. Try the cauliflower soup, velvety with a little citrus flavor and perfect spicy kick. The beef & pork meatballs are sumptuous without being heavy. There’s rarely a miss on the menu. The staff are friendly and welcoming and remember names. Dining at Gioia is like having dinner at a good friend’s place, only better.
This is one of my husband and my favorite places to eat. Our favorite pizza in the Bay Area. Everything is good here, the salads, the pizza and especially the cannoli! I am Sicilian and I think it's the best cannoli outside of my grandma's.
Great service, always. Meatballs are great, Caesar salad is always on point, pies vary but are usually very delicious. Great neighborhood spot.
Gioia is one of the few restaurants on Polk St. that is openly baby friendly, which is why we chose to go there for an early New Years dinner.
In our reservation, we included that we would be a couple dining with a baby and that we would be requesting a high chair. On arrival not only were we sat at the smallest table in the restaurant, the space where they put the highchair would make it impossible for a parent to sit next to their child, since the adults would have to sit together across from the baby—leaving the baby to be alone on one side of the table in the highchair.
Explaining how the table wouldn't work because it's unsafe to the host and manager, neither would sit us at a different table, making us wait on the side while they sat other customers that had arrived after us.
In the end, we were forced to sit outside on a cold winter night with a baby because the restaurant refused to sit us at one of the empty tables that were open for the entire time we dined there.
Going to Gioia was a mistake and if we had been able to find another table somewhere else after being told to eat outside, we would have never given them our business.
Stumbled on this gem. Buratta pizza was dynamite! Great prices, value and most importantly... they do it right. Not overwhelming with menu options. This is a must try.
Cool neighborhood restaurant that was opened late - great post symphony bite to eat. Service was friendly and my visiting family loved the pizza and fresh ingredients. Sadly they didn’t have any gluten free options, so there wasn’t much I could eat on the menu other than soup or salad, which is pretty surprising for a restaurant in San Francisco in this day and age. It’s only a different kind of flour and an option that for me means I won’t be able to dine there again. Too bad.
Delicious salads and pizza! We enjoyed our dinner very much!
Gioia is our favorite neighborhood gem. Suitable for date night cozied up in a booth, everyday dining at the bar, or people watching from the sidewalk facing stools while brunching on the weekend - every experience is better than the last. We frequent Gioia and love the food (MUST haves are the meatballs and focaccia, sausage pizza with jalapeños, fig pizza, and breakfast pizza), people, vibe, and ambiance. The staff is wonderful and treats you like family whether it's your first time or 100th. Dinner is great, but brunch may be even better - their "hangover pasta" (bucatini and their induplicable spin on pasta carbonara) is our favorite weekend treat. We LOVE Gioia!!
This is my go to Italian place for a special gathering, but not too special,as its reasonably priced. It's a bit noisy due to the configuration, alas, still good. I go for meeting friends at brunch, or a special dinner. Yummy, neighborly, and...well what else do you need?
Just a warning: They refuse to honor OpenTable reservations ... and the hostess is less than friendly about it.
Great food and service.
Great neighborhood spot. Come here a few times a month. Love their brunch! The breakfast pizzas are awesome! Thin crust! Can be quite loud inside. The outside searing is great when the weather allows!
We haven't been to Gioia in a couple of years, and I was looking forward to repeating what I remember as my experience. We were disappointed. The pizza was oddly dry, not in an "you're in Italy" kind of way; it was just dry. The salads and pasta were good. I'd stick to those if I go back again.
Crowded, tôo much noisy , and not so good food
Incredible service, menu, pizza, and wine! We loved all our food and would highly recommend Gioia!
One of my favorite restaurants. Amazing thin crust pizza and the seasonal menu is always interesting and delicious. Service is always great even when busy.
Beat prosciutto pizza I've had in years
Have dined here twice lately, good tasty food. Efficient service, will be back.
A perfect and casual place to get-together with friends and family.
Great food and service. The chef offers an array of delectable dishes.
Gioia Pizzeria is one of my favorite neighborhood gems. My 2 favorite things are the Lambrusco rose and the salsiccia pizza. It's nice to have a casual gourmet restaurant like this in walking distance of my house where we can also walk-in or make a reservation. Delicious!
Staff was very patient even though my group was very late on a Saturday night. Service was brisk and friendly, and food was perfect for a party with two kids--seemed to be young children at every other table. Menu items were accessible/simple but still high quality. Would definitely recommend.
A very energetic place meaning that tables are close together and people are shouting at each other. We came here for lunch and had to wait for at least 20 minutes to get our drinks. The food was good, but I doubt we will return due to excruciating noise and poor service.
Interesting and innovative selection of menu options - something for everyone and often with a twist that makes the dish extra special. Great pies, knowledgeable and friendly service and a very nice wine list.
From start to finish, this was the best food experience I've had in the 4 years I have lived in San Francisco. The staff is incredible (our server Kim was just a delight!), the chefs are beyond talented, and the ambiance of the restaurant itself made me feel so relaxed and welcome. Can't wait to come back!
We love Amarena. The pasta is delicious. The front room ambiance is warm and lively. The service is always good.
The meat balls were in fact delicious. We enjoyed the environment, our waiter and the food. Excellent!
The salads and appetizers are always very creative use of the freshest ingredients. We loved the halibut dinner we shared and were pleased they expanded their desert menu. We love Gioia
This is my second time here and the food is great and the service was awesome as well. You must get the meatballs.
We grabbed a delicious brunch here with our teenage boys before seeing Hamilton this weekend. The staff was great, and the food was superb. The Milano cocktail was my favorite, and we loved and devoured every dish. Bravo!
Booked this place on a whim and man were we surprised.
Service was excellent. Only beat by the really delicious food. Pizza was on point!
Highly recommend for a casual dinner.
Always a great place to eat !
Service is nonchalant and does not really pay attention to clients. Check was not correct. Expensive for below average pizza.
