Really nice pub for a get together with friends and listening to Jazz music. Relaxed and chilled vibe.
The highlight of GinTonica are the cocktails. They are made with the utmost care and taste fantastic. The tapas menu is interesting, unique, but doesn't make you go wow. I was actually hoping for the wow you get from chefs with a unique offering. Nevertheless, for great drinks with some Tapas on the side, its a good stop.
Love The Distillery
Great find, great gin, great staff and great olives :-)
We chose a 5pm table, splendiferous gin & tonics and cocktails, a bit trolled by the time the tapas came out but it certainly tasted good. We were the only table there which is to do with our timing - a few cocktails, few tapas and we were at £390 for three - so cheap it ain’t but this is the epicentre of gin-fizzery and general gin-ness.
Found this gem in Ladbroke Grove in the Portobello Road ... booked in advance and the place was buzzing! Great Gin selection. This bar serves tapas with drinks rather than British or European.
We gathered for some tapas prior to our Ginstitute booking downstairs but would gladly have gone back afterwards for more had it been open!
This was my second visit to Gintonica! Love the place. Absolutely friendly staff - especially Delphine- bubbly and charming. It’s a quiet place to enjoy with a friend when you just want to chill and chat. 💕💕
Had a wonderful evening at Gintonica. Sampled lovely tapas - the mackerel & the bonqerones were exceptional! Delish cocktails to accompany & the guys serving were great 😄! Thank you
I booked this place as my cousin was visiting from Kenya! We loved the place and the staff were so caring. We explained we wanted the gin experience and we were shown and explained about the various gins they had and given a taste of few before we made our choice of gin and mixers. The food was great, special attention was given by all the staff and we will definitely visit again. In fact we’ve already planned a visit in October and were thinking of making this our regular monthly place to get together! Loved the atmosphere, and we could actually have a conversation!
Very quiet when we went. G&Ts are awesome - so much choice. The tapas menu was small but everything we had was cooked to perfection. The tortilla and chorizo were both amazing. Had lovely window seat overlooking bustling Portobello Road market. More people came in after us making the atmosphere better. Lovely place to have a gin (or 2) and some really well cooked food. Will certainly come again.
Always fantastic! Phenomenal selection of gin and cocktails with friendly, personal, efficient service. We return time and time again.
Wonderful little tapas place with excellent cocktails. We enjoyed getting a few plates, a few drinks and the atmosphere of the place is pretty cool. Small, laid back and easy going. Appreciated the attentive service, but not overbearing.
Thank you for helping us celebrate my mom's 80th bday - we had a great time - food & drink were terrific!! The service was AMAZING!
Had lovely tapas lunch. Would have given 5 stars if booking had been dealt with correctly. Arrived early and said had reservation, was shown to table upstairs but asked on arrival if could sit in window area.... only 1 other table taken at this point. Told no, as that was also reserved. Half way through meal, received email from OpenTable saying we hadn't arrived. On checking with our very helpful waitiress, she investigated and learnt that waiter from downstairs hadn't heard me correctly and didn't take us to our booked table ... in the window!..(hence restaurant listing us as a no show!)... such a shame as you can see all fun in Portobello Market ... something we went along to experience. That being said our waitress tried to recompense and offered a scrumptious free chocolote mousse as an extra for dessert.
We enjoyed a handful of tapas dishes, which were fresh, authentic and tasty. Our server was very friendly and helpful.
Well worth a visit to Gintonica, if you happen to be in Portobello Road.
Fabulous cocktail menu! The best G&Ts we have ever had.
Gintonica is one of my favourite places. A long list of gins to work your way through, the ambiance is nice a chilled and staff are very attentative. Highly recommend!
Food was expensive but quick to be served to us and every dish was amazing. A large selection of gin. Katy was very helpful with the gin selections and took time to explain some of the gin to us. Glad we didn't move to the downstairs bar in the end as we had a great table. Would recommend to any gin fan, but for a romantic meal i wouldn't suggest a Sat night as it was quite loud.
Will definitely go back - would love to try out the hotel next time.
Nice place, but smaller than I though, I could hear everyone else’s conversation!
Our waitress was great and also the manager.
Food was amazing and drinks were nice.
Overall would recommend!
Absolutely amazing. Perfect for gin lovers. Fantastic service. Will return !
The Distillery was a lovely venue. The tapas menu at Gintonica was varied and the food was excellent and the cheesecake was sublime! The range of gins on offer was extensive with lots that we had not come across before. The staff were welcoming and friendly and were happy to share their knowledge of the gins should you want it. We had a lovely evening and will definitely visit again.
Food was fantastic BUT they advertise as a tapas bar so we ordered 6 between 2 of us - the portions were too big! They were main course sized. Either we should have been warned that 6 dishes would be too, much, or they could have suggested we order a couple and the order more. But the pot of tapas is that you try different dishes - I used to live in Spain and have never seen anything like it. Consequently a lot was wasted which is not good (and that was despite me trying to finish as much as I could)!
As a Spaniard I like to try the different offering of Tapas/Spanish restaurants in London. Not all of them are good or even serving proper nice tapas. GinTonica does serve very nice tapas, with a little twist and with genuine Spanish ingredients and flavours.
The service was very attentive and knowledgeable, good recommendations in wine and drinks.
The location is great right in the middle of Potobello road, so mixing good tapas with traditional London cool vibe is definitely a winer. Great bar downstairs too.
I’ve been here a few times with smaller groups, this was the first time of a larger size (8 people) so had we had to pay deposit and set menu food options. Overall it was a great evening and staff were helpful when you could get someone’s attention. My only warning, make sure you get all your menu options dishes - even after I queried that some dishes were missing I was told our full order had come. So had to resort to double checking my emails to ensure everything had come, which it didn’t and the staff then sorted it out. It was a little embarrassing, because you don’t want to have to make a scene in front a group of friends complaining!
Excellent gin selection and friendly waiting staff. When we first arrived, we were the only people in the restaurant, apart from some loud people drinking at the bar which made the atmosphere a little odd. This improved as more people arrived later in the evening. Some food was a little overpriced, however the cheese plate was fantastic.
Fantastic food and service. Highly recommend
Went there to try new gins but found that they were out of stock in three out of the five gins we wanted to try. Always a lovely place to be on a Saturday afternoon watching Portobello street market going on below but the lack of interesting gins was disappointing .
My boyfriend and I came here on a weekend trip to London. Food was beautiful, service attentive but not intrusive, drinks were of a high quality.
Overall a very good experience and will look forward to revisiting
Booked a table Gintonica following our Gin Blending Experience downstairs, in hindsight we should have eaten first as The Ginstitute is wonderfully boozy!
We had six tapas plates between the 2 of us and they were all fantastic! The standout dishes for me had to be the grilled lamb and the truffle risotto. Cant wait to return and work my way through the G&T list
We visited The Distillery and stayed in one of their rooms which was perfectly decorated and really comfy.
We booked a table at GinTonica for the practicality and were blown away with the quality of local produce and really tasty food. We shared a range of the tapas between 2. We picked 3 dishes each and shared a charcuterie board and it was just fantastic.
The service from start to finish for both our lodging stay and the dinner in GinTonica was impeccable. Can't wait to return again and try a few more of their superb range of gins!
Fantastic range of gins (although nothing beats their very own Portobello Road Gin) and really creative, tasty food. Their Gin & Tonic Plus serve was my favourite (blue one with the grapefruit!)
A good range of tapas to share between two was more than enough and incredibly flavoursome. Lovely decor and friendly, personable service.
Will definitely be back again (and really want to try their Ginstitute experience too)!
