Gino D'Acampo Newcastle is a beautiful light, open plan restaurant with floor to ceiling windows that lets the natural light flood it – it’s a real mood booster. That’s not all, we also have a huge contemporary terrace overlooking the iconic River Tyne, I can’t wait for you to see it.

Serving real Italian food as it should be, the menu really does have something for everyone. Check out my new lounge bar as well, it serves one of the biggest selections of Prosecco, sparkling wine and Franciacorta in the UK, with over 30 varieties for you to choose from. Had the Gamberite starter used to be prawns and avocado now shrimps and cucumber very poor. My wife has the cod she had 3 small pieces of potato no bigger that a 50p piece.

4th visit to the restaurant and hugely disappointing. Service was terrible, waitress ordered the wrong chicken dish for my husband. Obvious lack of training of staff, no knowledge of ‘waiting’ etiquette. Food was disappointing and tasteless when it did come. Very noisy and loud when at full capacity. Won’t be rushing back. Gino needs to get it together… if he’s ever there.

We visit Gino's once a month, and time our experience has not been as good as previous times. Your friendly manager didn't seem to be on duty today, so no usual welcome. Food was good as it always is. But our waitress didn't come back later to ask if we wanted anymore drinks, so we decided to leave soon after. Also, the last 2 visits there hasn't been the good dj young man (black) who plays great music like Stevie Wonder and soul music. The one tonight played very mediocre music. Kind regards.

I've visited twice in two weeks now. Once with work and once with family. Food and service was great both times. The food isn't cheap, but I find it good value for the quality and quantity you get. The children's meals are especially good value.

Disappointed Having dined at this restaurant on a number of occasions where the food and service had been excellent I was disappointed with this visit. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was quiet. As we were a party of 7 this didn’t matter but I was a little surprised as on previous visits it had been very vibrant. The service was poor, attention to detail was lacking and it was quite slow. The food was nice but was only warm not hot and one of the meals was under cooked. We were given dessert menus but they were slow in coming to take the order so we decided to just get the bill and leave.

Inside the lasagne was completely dry. Was like eating a sponge of pasta. The calzone came out cold and they removed it from the bill. Expected better from somewhere carrying Gino's name. Very dissappinted.

As a coeliac, it is quite a stressful experience dining out and therefore a rare event for me. I chose Gino's due to having a Gluten-free menu. I ordered a GF pizza and the waitress came back to tell me they were out of GF pizza bases and that GF garlic bread was also not an option. As I am also vegetarian, this left me with few options and quite disappointed. One of our party also had to have her 3rd choice drink as they were out of her other choices. Overall the waiter service was slow and the experience was pretty poor for a big name restaurant.

Bit disappointed overall with this visit. Food was tasty but cool. Comparing to visit a few years ago this restaurant has definitely slipped a notch. Staff did their job, but not over friendly or talkative. Other diners were complaining about temperature of food but in my opinion it was possibly being left too long on the pass before service. We did get a nice table overlooking the river though so not all bad.
