Another wonderful experience at Ginger & Fork! The food here is authentic and incredibly pleasing! We had the Hong Kong wonton soup, soup dumplings, Cantonese curry chicken, and the chef's slice pork - I have to say that we truly enjoyed all of the dishes, but we were especially glad to have a place that offers both wonderful dim sum dishes as well as other classic Chinese dishes. The best of both worlds!
The bartender was able to make their dragon fire cocktail without alcohol (I am unable to drink alcohol and found that it the staff had no problem at all accommodating me).
Now let's get down to the best part! Upon completing our meal, the owner came to our table and asked if my partner and I had just celebrated an anniversary. We told her that we had and she asked if I could have an alcoholic beverage as she had noticed that I had ordered a "mocktail" earlier. I told her that unfortunately I could not. The owner came back just a few moments later with two champagne glasses and a dessert in a shot glass! She wished us a happy anniversary and toasted my partner on my behalf! It was an incredibly touching experience. She made us feel right at home and her sweet gesture to this gay couple left us ecstatic. We immediately messaged our other couple friend's and told them of our experience and hope that they will come check it out! (I know they will!)
Upon leaving the restaurant the owner gave both Tami and I big hugs and told us that she would see us next time. We most certainly will be back and hopefully next time we'll have all of our friend's and family there, too!
LOVE Ginger & Fork! Mary is an amazing owner/hostess/gatherer of friends. The food is fresh and exquisite. Craft cocktails are unique and mesmerizing. Our go-to place now!
Food was delicious; great experience. I haven’t had authentic Chinese food in years because of gluten. It was amazing to have so many delicious options.
Wonderful food and Service!
We love this place.
Always ask for items not on menu. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Great food, service.
One of our favs
Food was excellent, service was fantastic! Will definitely be going back soon.
The food and service were excellent. Kelsey took the time to explain how to eat the soup dumplings - they were delicious. Likewise the garlic shrimp, snow pea leaves, and mushroom assortment. In general the food was lighter, less salty and fresher tasting than in many Chinese restaurants. The dining room was noisy - but that may have been due to one group who screamed at each other. Sadly there seems to be at least one of them in every Houston restaurant these days. The food was more expensive and the portions were smaller than we have experience in Chinatown.
Always love dining at Ginger & Fork, from their specialty cocktails to their soup dumplings and scrumptious meals! Attendant wait staff as well as tableside visits from Mary, the owner, just to make sure everything is perfect. This is one of our favs!
We got the lobster and was WAY overpriced! The rest of the food was reasonable priced and very good as was the service but the lobster definitely wasn’t worth the price.
Our first time at the restaurant. Really nice atmosphere, Mary made us feel very welcome it was very helpful in picking our meal.
Dishes were very fresh with unique flavors and spices. Cocktail was amazing too.
Can’t wait to go back.
Everything was perfect. Food and drinks were delicious. Service was great as well!
The food is excellent- the service impeccable the drinks outstanding! The owners even took the time to come by and say hello ! Hands down the best Asian in Houston and one of the cities finest restaurants 5 stars ! Can't wait to go back ❤️try the Ginger Margarita and the Duck Bao the dumpling and the filet !
Had the soup dumplings and pineapple shrimp! Both were great!
Food is always delicious! Love the hot sauce they put on the table to amp up your meal! Asian pear bread pudding is my favorite dessert but they were out this time. Red velvet cream cake was just ok. Server was polite and timely. Always 1 group there that is a bit tipsy and loud. Restaurant isn’t big so that doesn’t help the noise level. Overall I’m definitely a repeat customer!
Xia long bao are just average, same for dumpling soup and char siew pork. Prices are very highly ($13 for 4 dumplings). Prefer Wanna Bao by far.
Exceptional food. Authentic HK food. First time to visit this gem tucked just off Shepherd south of 10. It certainly won’t be my last. I can’t wait to return.
Amazing as always! Thank you for everything!
I usually love Ginger & Fork. Unfortunately, this past experience was not up to par. The service was great, however, the food was just mediocre.....and came out cold.
I think all restaurants have off days and I will definitely go back as I've had great experiences before.
Good job Mary and the team!
Great food and great service. I wanted to substitute a specific sauce for my dish and was readily accommodated. Ambiance was great.
Ginger & Fork is great. Open Table not so much when redeeming rewards.
A delightful experience from cocktails to appetizers to main courses and desserts. Impeccable service from Kelsey, the support staff, and owner Mary create a very personalized experience for their guests. If you aren’t dining here, you are missing out on a great Houston dining experience.
Outstanding, thank you Mary for hosting us - we'll be back soon!
Really love this place. The food is flavorful and solid. The cocktail list is outstanding. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I also like the atmosphere - a converted house which adds to the comfortable vibe.
We had wonderful service and since it was our anniversary, they brought up two glasses of champagne.
Great restaurant! Food is Yummy. Great service. The owner is very sweet.
Nice neighborhood restaurant.
This is a quaint and classy Chinese restaurant with authentic food. I personally think it's the best in Houston. The entire staff is professional and friendly and the service is outstanding. I go here at least once a week for a meal. An excellent bar with interesting cocktails as well.
Daniel, our waiter, was knowledgeable of the menu and made welcomed recommendations. The sea bass and shrimp with asparagus were very flavorful. The pork dumpling with broth was fun to eat as it was good. The pepper accompaniment made fried tofu amazingly tasty.
We love the food and the staff is top notch!
This is an excellent space for a casual business lunch. The service was consistently top-notch and accommodating from the moment we entered and all through the meal. Our appetizer (lettuce wraps) and entrees (HK Pineapple Shrimp, Shrimp in Velvet Meat Sauce, Garden Chicken) were generous and served so everyone had a chance to share. The space itself is open, bright and welcoming; white tablecloth but very comfortable. A very nice woman came out to check on every guest (she may have been the owner) which I found to be a very warm touch. The parking lot is a little tricky, but not unbearable. Overall a very pleasant afternoon and I would gladly welcome the chance to dine here again.
Sadly, it’s not worth the money. Restaurant is clean and while service is friendly, the dishes come out sporadically without any explanation why they are ill timed. The food itself is like decent take out but costs 5 times as much. Using dried shiitakes in a mushroom beef dish as the main mushroom is practically false advertising. The cocktails cost $15 and are not anything fancy, just renamed standards. $200 for 4 people is atrocious for the quality of food. Management should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to pass this food off as fine dining.
Great food, service and ambience. Authentic and unique selections.
This is a phenomenal restaurant . I had the Houston Restaurant WeeKs menu. I started with the fried cauliflower appetizer, This was one the best cauliflower recipes I have had with the just the right degree of crispness and bursting with flavor. Following the pork bone broth and Cantonese Curry Chicken I had the Ginger parties for dessert. This unique and imaginative dessert was wonderful. It will be worth going back just for this. Overall this was an exceptional meal that left me full without being stuffed.
It was a nice time with friends! Food was awesome and very comfortable:)
The Peking Duck was excellent! Worth every bit of the cost. The skin was brown, and crispy. The meat was tender and moist. It rivals what we’ve had in China.
Gluten free chocolate cake made by Joel/Jake was amazing -3 votes for it to be included on the menu permanently
Mary and her top of the line team always delver an outstanding dining experience. A Houston gem!
