Ginger Ratings and Reviews
Food was delicious, I ordered Mee Krong (I may have spelled that wrong), and my husband ordered some kind of soup, also delicious. We had our 9 month old with us, so we ordered him a side of fries. The fries were perfect, crispy outside, soft inside, and salted just right. They tasted homemade, & when I asked about them, found out they do make them there. I usually drink red wine, but was in the mood for white. I told our server that I wanted a dry white, and whatever he or the bartender picked out was just right.
I really enjoyed Ginger. First and foremost for me was the fact that they actually have a VEGAN entree that was yummy, a yellow coconut curry with veggies and tofu. The sauce was delicious and there was a lot of it to spoon up and enjoy. I was also told there is a soup that can be vegan if the meat is requested to be left off the dish. The service was very good, friendly, prompt, samples of wine readily offered, and our waitress said the chef can accommodate most special food requests. The ambiance was good, not too loud but not flat and dull either. The lighting was just right, not so bright that you feel like you’re in a diner but not so dark that you can’t really see your food well.
As usual the food was great. :) We went for our anniversary, and we ended up eating in the bar since it was less crowded than the restaurant where our reservations were. I prefer the bar section as long as you don't have anyone right next to you, as some of the tables for two are pretty close to the next table for two. But since we had 4 we pulled the round tables next to each other and created more space which was perfect. Love the Mac & Cheese with scallops. Our friends with us did the 2 vegan dishes and loved them.
A former Anchorage resident was in town and we met for dinner and a visit. We were the first patrons in the dining room and our waiter was eager to serve us. We told him we weren't in a hurry and were catching up with each other. Graciously he backed off a bit so we could visit and make our selections at our leisure and eat leisurely. Great evening.
The ambiance was fantastic. The service was very good. The vegan tofu yellow curry was very absolutely delicious. Non-vegetarians at our table had chicken curry soup with a fancy name I did not remember which they all said was outstanding. Chocolate cake was great too.
I did not give 5 stars for food only because the ahi tuna my husband ordered was so rare (uncooked) that he could not eat it. Before ordering he asked for the fish to be fully cooked but it still came almost uncooked. That was the only dissapointment.
Felt rushed, even though it wasn't overly busy. My potatoes were under cooked and under seasoned. Mushrooms were cold. The scallops and mac & cheese was very good. The ahi was pretty good, but again the bok choy was under seasoned. The beef curry was enjoyed. Not sure if we would go back.
We love how the menu frequently changes and there's always a variety of fish and vegetarian options. We loved our entrees: mango tofu and a seafood coconut soup. And the waffle dessert featured perfect, fluffy waffles! The only drawback on the food were the fries which tasted as if the oil hadn't been changed in a while. Our server was excellent, checking in with us just the right amount.
It was my husband's 30th birthday, along with his mother as choose Gingers to celebrate. They went above and beyond in providing welcoming and enthusiastic service. Offered drink and food favorites and explained in detail any dishes we had questions about. The food was amazing and very filling. All three of us agreed that we cannot wait to visit again.
This restaurant was recommended to us by another local chef while we were traveling. The dinner started out promising with good service and the amazing banana soup. Our entrees were average. He had the salmon special, which was slightly overcooked. I had the tofu and curry, which was a good vegan option but didn't "wow" me. Overall this was a great spot to grab a nice dinner. Try the banana soup!
