Wonderful dinner at The Parlour at the InterContinental Barclay. The menu is quite large and diverse for a hotel restaurant, so there's something for everyone. My tomato soup, scallops and chocolate cake were all delicious and the service was outstanding. Definitely a great choice if you're in Midtown East.

Bar area renovation was underwhelming. Food is good but not great. Was anticipating gin drinks like they make in Portugal, the best there. Food was ok but not great. Service was good.

The Manager and server were very nice but the experience was spoiled by a member of staff who was especially and pointlessly abrasive. $109 for two, for very badly cooked scrambled eggs (literally like I had in the army) and ordinary ingredients. The range of choice was fine but the quality and presentation was far from what one would pay for a great steak.

The service started good and then the waiters stopped coming to our table to clear our plates and asked us if we needed anything. Also, they did not disclose that a 15% service charge was added to the bill.

We stayed at the hotel for 6 days and loved it. We had breakfast each morning and dinner 2 or 3 times in the Parlour restaurant. The food was lovely. Service very friendly. Can’t wait to go back to NYC again. Julia - England.

A little too noisy for me. Perhaps the busing trays could be around the corner? Mohamed was our waiter for the 3 evenings that we dined at the Parlor and was outstanding.

A lovely setting, but outrageously expensive, even for hotel breakfasts in NYC. $104.06 dollars for 2 people, including the 15% tip that was added automatically. I appreciate that it's a hotel, and I know it's standard practice for hotels to add a tip on automatically for breakfast, but the cost of the buffet itself is ridiculous. You could set two prices, one for full buffet and one for a more limited offer, and get more return business.

We were seated in a bar area when there was space in the dining room. Ordinarily, this would be fine but when you are having a Christmas brunch it would be expected that you would not put people at one of the few cocktail tables. The service was terrible. We would have to track down our server for something as simple as a refill of coffee (which were able to get once and the other time I had to get it myself) and water (same thing). Clearly, he was not interested in working that day. The food was a buffet which would be fine but it was all cold. We ordered omelets but they came out cold as well and were liquified in the middle because they had not been cooked the required time. I usually only provide reviews of excellence in dining and service but feel the need to report this to all. Terrible experience and quite disappointing for a Christmas Brunch from what appeared to be a nice place.

Just a bit too lazy to venture outdoors, we stayed in the hotel and checked out the Gin Parlour for a night time snack. Decent atmosphere, semi quiet, some children running around, but nothing that bothered us. It is a hotel lobby after all. For drinks, we had a margarita and a bees knees. High marks for the bartender. I tried the kim chi fried chicken sandwich. Crunchy and tasty but the bun was on the dry side. The fries were fresh and crunchy - I liked them. The smoked chicken salad was fresh, well made, and big enough. My wife couldn't finish it. The waitress was friendly and efficient. She was all over the place and could have used some help. This was the second time I stayed at the Barclay and the second time I tried the Gin Parlour. I'll eat there again. It's reliable and convenient if you don't feel like leaving the hotel for a bite.

Its a very lively place. I was meeting a business contact there - too noisy to be able to talk without screaming at one another. If it was a business meet up, it would have been really a cool place to be on a Wednesday evening (live music). Drinks were good but a little annoyed that when ordered one of their gin drinks (which was excellent), i also as for just a club soda with it. Apparently, the bartender decided i needed a bottle of club soda at $8 - if you're going to bring that out, i think it warrants a suggestion. I simply wanted a non-alcoholic drink with my alcoholic drink. I would absolutely go again however as this was a ver lively place - just nit great for any sort of conversation while the band is playing.

There was no host to greet us. We waited over 10 minutes for someone to sit us. A maintenance worker started painting the wall right behind us half way through our meal. The manager came over to ask if we wanted to be moved and gave us attitude because we asked if the painter could stop painting literally right behind us and wait until after we left. Needless to say, the smell of paint ruined the meal. This was a business lunch that did not go well.

Out of the Midtown lunch crowd hustle and bustle, big comfy chairs and no rushed service. You can hear your table conversation and not worry about someone eavesdropping. The service was good; the Cobb salad was fresh and crisp. The quiet ambiance was the big win.

Our family of 4 had New Year’s Eve dinner here and were very happy we did. It wasn’t crowded yet busy enough for a festive feel. Service was accommodating and attentive enough. We weren’t rushed in any way and had a wonderful send off into the new year.
