Honestly, I'm super picky, having lived in SF for 26 years and having been exposed to such great food for so long. I had never been to Gilberth's but decided to make a night of it in Dogpatch and try something other than Piccino (which I love, my old standby). Gilberth's was incredible -- from the homemade chips and sauces to the best shishito peppers I've ever had to the delish tacos. The wait staff was charming and attentive and the whole experience just made me super happy!

Found Gilberth's in Eater's recommendations for Dogpatch and LOVED IT! It was a sort of sleepy btwn Xmas and NY's weekday, so not super busy. We had the Lomito Saltado and Carnitas and loved both. Can't wait to get back. Service was friendly and efficient.

Really delicious Latin food - be sure to get the Brussel Sprouts, OMG delicious!!! Small space which was really nice as there was room to not be on top of another table. Definitely will go back.

I ate here a few months ago and it was so good that I made reservations here again with a few friends for dinner on a Saturday evening. I made reservations at 5:30p as we all were going to a show at Chase Center right after, which the show started at 7:30p. I don’t know what I was thinking but my track on time was all off. Long story short, we didn’t get there until 6pm. Every table was taken. My friends and I were thinking of our table was gone we’d just grab something at Chase Center. Surprisingly, they still had our table and food came pretty quick. Everything was delicious as the first time I went! I want to give a huge shoutout to them because I was surprised they didn’t give our table away, the food was phenomenal as always, & the service was great. Thank you so much for accommodating my reservation. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back several times! I didn’t have a chance to take any pics of the food because all of us were rushing to eat to make it to the show on time. Plus, I’ve never downed a margarita so fast in my life. Lol. If I had more time I would’ve had another!

Everything was ok. Only thing was that the salad was too fresh, so fresh that a bug crawled straight out of it. They replaced the salad, but it would have been nice to also give us an option to switch to some other appetizer as we were sick of looking at/trying to attempt eating the replacement salad again.

Went in to celebrate bfs bday. He wanted some latin food, initially I suggested la mar, but he didn’t want to go there for some reason. So Gilberths caught my eye, the staff didn’t disappoint. Food and drinks were delicious. We got some of the Gilbert’s mojitos along w some elote and empanadas. For our meal we had the pibil pork (so so so delicious!! I believe this is a classic Yucatán dish, and Gilberth is from there, so I expected nothing less) and steak and a side of yucca and fried plantains. I can’t say anything bad, maybe it was just too quiet ? Lol but honestly it’s good if ur looking for intimate vibes. They still have good techno / house/ Latin music playing in the background at a good level. Theirs also outdoor seating. Will deff come back for a lunch. Oooo also got to meet the one and only Gilberth, he was super chill.

If you plan to attend an event nearby, book early and ORDER early. We were late to the concert which started at 7:30 pm because our food didn't come out until 7:10 pm, even though we ordered around 6:15 pm, so we had to snarf it down in 5 minutes and run to the venue. The concert started promptly at 7:30, so we missed the first song (or two). I couldn't tell you how the food was as only a bit of it was inhaled. The waiters kept telling us our food was coming out next, but we kept seeing dishes go to other tables. I am sure they deal with an event crowd nearly every night, but this was not handled well. So, order early and it will be a good experience.

Cute little restaurant. When we arrived at 7p it was empty, but quickly filled right afterwards. Music and ambiance was great, food was great. After the first two bites of our meal, immediately knew we would be back.

We sat there for a while & there were 2 workers standing close to us. I kept wondering if they were ever going to bring us the menu. Finally, I asked one of them. Other than that, service was better from there on out. That’s the only reason Why I didn’t give 5 stars. The food is SO good. Our server was great! The ambiance is great and Peking wasn’t hard; but we went on a Wed evening. I would definitely come back here again.

Gilberth's is my favorite restaurant in the Dogpatch. The food is amazing quality for the price - my picks are the shishito peppers, pollo asado w/ maduros and the red sangria! It is a great place for a casual date or a group.

Good modern taken on Latin dining. Old favs (pollo tinga, Asada, etc.) were done well with a good mix of kitschy dishes (the sweet potatoes fries were a hit with my party). The wait staff were quite accommodating, and I was able to arrange a large group from work on short notice with a minimum of fuss and muss.

Super delicious and fun for a group! Only downside is I did feel service was a little bit slow but not a major complaint. I would absolutely love to go again and I can't recommend the pescado tikin xic enough! so tasty and very very fresh food and flavor.

The pork belly appetizer is one of the most amazing dishes I've ever tasted. Incredible flavor and you just can't be the value. I would highly recommend Gilberth's to anyone visiting the Dogpatch area of SF. Enjoy!

a nice take on mexican...very good, although small, ceviche. unusual and very tasty enchiladas....the cubano was a bit weird...huge hamburger and fries plate. not a knockout, but very comfortable for the dogpatch neighborhood
