We were the only ones in the restaurant but the service was very slow. The food was ok. The temperature was too warm. The view however was awesome.
Fantastic Specials - 2 Fish dishes that were unique and distinctive - Branzino and Mahi-Mahi with delicious polenta and pasta.
Great food and great service!
Amazing service and food. Great spot.
This place is such a neighborhood gem. We think it’s highly underrated. The service is great without being at all intrusive. They are just warm and efficient. The food transports me back to Italy. My husband agrees completely. The handmade tagliatelle is absolutely scrumptious: springy as you chew it. The pizza crust is uniquely crispy and delicious. I love their salads, and the view when the weather is nice is absolutely lovely. It’s one of those places with true New York magic. How lucky we are that it’s in our neighborhood!
The view of the harbor is great!!! The food is good, but the reason to go is the view.
This is my third visit here and each time the food and service have been wonderful. It was a business meal but happened to be on Valentine's Day. I would go there for special dinners or just because!!!
So the only negative thing I have to say is that you it’s quite expensive and the dishes are maybe slightly below average size... but the food exquisite and the service was great too !!!
Not as grand as the pictures make it seem better in the summer I hope
The food was delicious but with record low temperatures the restaurant was incredibly cold.
Christmas’ eve dinner
Not quite the same in the winter time. This is a warm weather venue, for sure. One of my favorite places in Manhattan. Food is outstanding and the service is top notch.
Service was very good and room was very quiet for lunch meal. I found dining room to be not so clean and smelled of dirty mop smell.
View of waterfront is great.
Absolutely delicious food, well seasoned, flavorful. You could taste the fresh herbs in everything. Pleasant service. The restaurant is known for its outdoor Terrace with beautiful view of the Hudson and I have been many times out there and it is great. Unfortunately now in the winter dining is on the inside which is really disappointing. The atmosphere could best be described as "Hospital cafeteria". Their walls, large stretches painted brown, overly bright lighting. It needs a complete makeover on the inside, I felt bad for the chefs as their outstanding food was not given the atmosphere it deserved. If I were going there to eat alone reading a book, I guess I might do that but for any festive or date or any other social occasion no way. What a shame
Poor food, no atmosphere, very dissapointing. Would not recommend the restaurant.....
We ordered beer one of the five beers that were on the menu and they were out, we changed to bloody marys and they were out of tomato juice, we changed to wine selection and they were out of wine. We ordered the special for lunch and they were out of the special. Service was OK, but nothing to write home about. The view is great in the summer and if you sit on the patio, it is very pleasant. No so much in the winter.
The food was excellent. The restaurant itself looks a little shabby but wait staff was very good and I would go back certainly for the food
This venue at battery park has thé best view on lady liberty from the Manhattan side. Go there in the spring, summer or during a beautiful autumn day. Avoid sitting inside..you’ll understand when you visit.
My favorite restaurant in all of NYC! The authentic Italian and the amazing view!
My husband and I wanted to share a meal in a restaurant with a waterfront view and hoped for good food too; sometimes you get one or the other. We got both! Lady Liberty and the moon shone beautifully for us. We enjoyed the eggplant appetizer - delish! I had the grilled salmon and my husband had the shrimp fra diavala - both were delicious and prepared perfectly. The glasses of wine that our waiter recommended for us paired well with our meals. We will certainly return to Gigino!
Visiting NYC with my boyfriend, this was the closest place near the waterfront that was also listed on Open Table, after taking a Statue Cruise. It's sorta a tourist trap but convenient. Food was ok nothing special though I think the best part is the bread and the view! A bit pricey for generic Italian but staff were friendly and right on the water so great location. Little tiny place with strange 80s/90s American music trying to resonate with the middle aged tourist - noting authentic Italian about this place but overall fine for lunch - nothing fancy.
We were in New York for a conference and “stumbled” onto this jem. Great food and service and a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty.
Great view of the statue of Liberty. Food was good. Would go back if I’m in New York again
As lovely as I remember it. Food, view, service and ambience is wonderful. You will not get a better value anywhere, especially on the waterfront looking out at the Statute of Liberty. Lovely green area part of the Park in front of restaurant where children can play. Miss it already.
It was a great first experience with our girls celebrating our anniversary. It was a perfect night to enjoy the scenery. The food was excellent. Thank you.
Great food, amazing views. The place is extremely family friendly as it overlooks a large lawn, where little children can run around while adults are enjoying a meal.
Maybe they just had a bad evening? Had reserved a table in advance at a certain time. Showed up and was met with something like "It is overwhelming tonite, your table is not ready" and was directed to the not-so-cozy bar area. Idled for twenty minutes before we got our table... The location of the restaurant is terrific, to bad the service for the rest of the evening didn't get any better. First course arrived fairly quick, however main course included a wait time of 45+ minutes. Extremely busy restaurant, something I generally find fun and nice, but it was obvious that they had accepted too many guests which in turn resulted in stressed and poor service and long waiting times. Didn't complain but was still offered to share a dessert and a two drinks at the end of the dinner - good gesture! Still doesn't help up the rating.
Service was poor......had to ask for extra water, another glass of wine and the check. Food was ok. Won't be going back.
Lovely spot looking at the Statue of Liberty. Nice at sunset in particular
We went to Gigino at Wagner Park to celebrate our anniversary during our stay in New York (from the UK).
The setting is fantastic overlooking the Hudson River with good views of the Statue of Liberty and the Sunset. (This was our primary reason for selecting the restaurant).
We had looked at the online menu before making our booking and so were aware of the potential costs for the meal and drinks.
The quality of the food was good and the location fully realised our hopes for a romantic setting.
However, the service did leave something to be desired. Our waiter presented us with menus and then proceeded to list a number of available "specials" at such a rate that it was difficult to know what was what?!
This only slightly detracted from the overall experience, but it would have been better to be presented with a printed list of available "specials" so that we could have more time to consider the options.
Overall, I'd say we enjoyed the location, the food was good but not great and the atmosphere was good.
We chose Gigino for a wedding anniversary and the ambiance and the ambiance and food were great. Weather was a bit chilly to eat outside but the waterview is such that you can't be inside. We also felt a bit pressured in terms of the timing as we were one of the last table to finish but it was only 9:00pm...they should consider may be extending a bit their closing time.
Beautiful location overlooking the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. The bread was delicious with just a hint of garlic. But the star was the Branzino with clams mussels and squid in a lemon butter sauce that was so outstanding that I wanted to lick the plate. Highly recommend.
Romantic and remarkable. The most amazing location. Worth the trip downtown.
Do not mlss!
Love Giginos! Been several times at night and in the afternoon and it's a great place to relax and enjoy the view of the sea and the Statue of Liberty!
We came here for a family celebration lunch and wanted a view of Lady Liberty and this spot did not disappoint. We had a table under a canopy (thankfully because it was a hot afternoon) facing the water--perfect! The service was attentive, professional and friendly and the food was delicious. All the dishes we ordered were made with fresh ingredients, bursting with flavor: chickpea and artichoke salad, pear salad, bruschetta with the ripest tomatoes, squid ink linguine with mussels, spaghetti with clams. Most memorable for me was the salmon tartare--beautifully plated with well balanced flavors and just a hint of spicy. All in all, a wonderful dining experience--we'll be back!
A wonderful treat on the water in Batter Park. The food and service were excellent and I felt transported to Venice!
