The staff were all very friendly and welcoming on our arrival, we were a little early but they were already set up and ready for us. We had a choice of different Tea’s and also coffee with the Afternoon Tea we had booked. The afternoon tea food was excellent and delicious. We had a relaxing afternoon with excellent service from all the staff who we met. A big thank you to all of them. It was wet on our visit so we weren’t able to have our afternoon tea on the terrace, so that means we will have to come back on another visit.

The food was outstanding - beautifully presented, explained and delicious. Our experience there as a couple was very "Old World". The restaurant is tucked away and the setting is beautiful. Allow extra time for the extremely narrow and windy roads to arrive.

Eat prior to dining. Portions are super small. Ordered the version and got a piece 4cm x 1.5. Fish for my wife had to be sent back as was uncooked. No one to take responsibility when you do compain

Excellent food in a stunning location. Although the delays between courses were longer than ideal, it didn't overshadow the quality of the meal.

We had a lovely Saturday lunch . It was very good value for money and the service was perfect . Highly recommended .

Beautiful food in refined, yet relaxing surroundings. It's an old school vintage atmosphere, but not stuffy. The staff were all friendly, polite and attentive. The food was delicious, dinner was served with a great selection of wines to choose from. The whole experience felt like a big hug, comforting and warm with the best quality ingredients and taste.

I thought that the food was absolutely excellent. The hotel decor seemed a little tired and there was little ambiance in the dining room.. I was also a little concerned because my companion ordered a glass of Chablis which the waiter chose but didn’t give us any warning that the glass of wine was going to cost £36 and so was a big and unexpected addition to an already expensive meal.

Although the location is stunning and the service is 6 star, both my wife and I were disappointed with the afternoon cream tea Cheese scones were very dry Other scones, fruit sunk to the bottom of the scone Macarons - not to our taste Other desserts were in our opinion poor compared with other cream teas we have had elsewhere Sandwiches were fine Savouries were also not to our taste All was presented very well Big plus was the dog friendly environment Star of the show was the sausage roll

Not somewhere we can afford on a regular basis, but definitely worth it for a special treat, everything about Gidleigh is quality.

Staff were all knowledgeable helpful and very welcoming. The room clean comfortable and lovely room service. The wine tasting was fun and informative. Tasting menu very good.
