Food was good and service quick. Room was a bit chilly. They tried to seat us on the inside patio but it was too cold and when asked to move she seemed a little annoyed. Server was very friendly as polite. Large portions. Dessert was so large we decided to pass!

It was tricky to pick a category for recommendation. What I want to be clear about is that the food was AMAZING! I was in Chicago for a conference (I'm from Hamilton, Canada) and was really keen to try this restaurant given what friends had said and that my hubby and I love the show "The League." So, while I was in town for business, it was my husband and I that went to the restaurant for a 'date night' while we were here. My main complaint is that I would NOT take colleagues here, and to be honest, I would think twice about going here again for a 'date night'. It is far too tight of a space. If you are looking for a nice, quiet and romantic dinner for two - I wouldn't recommend it at all. In addition, if you are going with business colleagues, it is too close to other tables to be able to really have a good discussion because the tables are so close together it literally feels like strangers are 'up in your business'.

What a wonderful monument to excess! Huge delicious steaks, generous pours on the drinks and great people watching. The quintessential "City of Big shoulders" restaurant. As they would say "You gotta go to know".

Great experience and great food/service. We had reservations through Open Table and were seated immediately when we arrived.

Had Lunch at Gibson’s. The steak salad was awesome! Watched Cubs game at the bar and had a great experience. Would definitely go back!

The lobster and crab can't be beat! Portion sizes are incredible totally worth the money!!! Dessert portions could feed 4+ people! We'll be back!

Everything was amazing, the customer service was excellent. Will definitely return in the near future.

Amazing meal & service. Visiting Chicago and hat to hit this great institution. Steaks are just perfection and everything else is delicious as well. The desserts could feed a family of 6 probably.

My wife and I went to Gibson’s for my birthday. We come to Gibson’s a few times a year. We even got married there 9 plus years ago. So you can see this restaurant has a special place in our hearts. We always receive the best service and great food. The service during our last visit was outstanding. We arrived early and received a table right away. The service from our waiter was phenomenal too. We pretty much knew what we were going to have when we sat down. But our waiter still took the time and explained everything. The food is always cooked to perfection. I don’t know what more I can say about Gibson’s. I can’t wait for our next visit.

We had the 7 oz filet that included vegetable and mashed potatoes. Plus we shared a wedge salad and twice baked potato. Everything was very good. My only comment was that the twice baked potato needed more flavor. The cheese on top had no flavor and the interior was pretty much mashed potatoes. For a $12 potatoe they should be using a good sharp cheddar and more bacon. The steak was excellent. The combination of salad, potato, steak, and vegetable was plenty. The wedge salad was excellent with a good blue cheese. It was big enough for two people.

We were seated by the window which we loved. Overall great dining experience.

Great steak as always! Very good meats. Service was slow this time. We were seated upstairs and the young waiter was busy chatting with his co-workers and was not attentive. We had to wave him over for another bottle of wine and again for dessert menus. For these prices, service should be perfect. Management needs to pay better attention to the upstairs staff.

Overall excellent experience my mom loved it.

Very disappointed with this meal.
The $100 steak was burnt.
We mentioned this to the waiter towards the end of the meal. He insisted that this was "Chicago-style" - "char" on the outside - and that he had mentioned that when we ordered.
Actually, what he said when we ordered was that the steak would be seared - not charred.
I Googled "Chicago style steak" and apparently that's a thing, somewhat like Pittsburgh style "black and blue".
However, when I looked at several videos on YouTube , what I saw were steaks that were well browned, but not black.
There is a huge difference between a Maillard reaction and carbon. Someone in Gibson's kitchen doesn't know this.
A friend had warned us that the meal at Gibson's would likely disappoint. I wish we had listened.

This was the first time we dined here and the food and service was fabulous! One negative comment....the tables are way too close together! We could almost rub elbows with our neighbors while eating. I dislike it when restaurants put a party of two in between a party of six and a family of four. Very distracting and sometimes awkward.

Peppered ribeye was fantastic and service outstanding ... as expected.

My friends and I, all retired professional women, love Gibson's for a wonderful lunch. Very well run restaurant, excellent food and service. Our reservations are always honored on time.

Maybe my expectations were too high, but as highly rated as this steakhouse is, I was expecting much, much more. They do not season anything... the steaks, the potatoes... just very bland and for the price? Yikes! I wouldn't go back or recommend.

My guest loved his steak, mine was the worst piece of meat I’ve had at Gibson’s, ie grizzly, fatty, tough, not cooked thoroughly. Waiter was great but empty dishes sat in the table for 15 minutes, bus service was terrible. Chalk it up to Tuesday night dinner after 9 pm.

Our little family had a wonderful time celebrating B’s birthday! A nice window table, excellent service, and our 9 month old son absolutely loved the mushroom soup. Food was excellent as expected, and the comically large carrot cake will satisfy our sweet tooth for some time to come! We will be adding Gibson’s to our regular rotation!
