   Long time gibdons fan however my steak and my colleagues was very tough unheard of for a prime steak. Luke warm too Was so looking forward to a good dinner with my customer and was disappointed

   We had such a wonderful time at Gibson’s! Lee was our waiter and he was so sweet and attentive to our table. He gave us great recommendations and even celebrated our anniversary with their amazing chocolate cake. We had the rib-eye and it was perfectly cooked, buttery melt in your mouth. Can’t say enough good things!

    Ambiance and service unmatched, however food was just ok. I had the prime rib with salad and baked potato. Reflecting on the entire meal the bread might have been the best thing. There just wasn’t anything that spoke top notch steak house level. The prime rib was kind of tough and was served luke warm. I wanted to enjoy this place so much more.

    We were visiting Chicago. Gibson's Bar & Steakhouse was highly recommended by our neighbor born and raised in Chicago. We were not disappointed. Highly recommend a reservation even on a weekday. Popular restaurant. Also a little tricky to find of Michigan Avenue- go to Wrigley Building near waterway turn right follow to street go down stairs as it is on lower Rush Street. The service and menu is spectacular. Lots of meals to chose from. My son and I had an 8 ounce fillet steak ( known for great steaks). It was cooked exactly the way I wanted it. My wife had a good sized Crabcake. All was delicious. Our server was Demetria who was professional, courteous, experienced, and personable. She catered to all of our dining needs. Service was superb.     Gibsons has a legendary reputation but our food was fair at best... especially for the prices. Service was excellent. Ambiance is great. Drinks were great. Food - the steak was served on a cold plate with a cold sauce (bernaise?) next to it. I assume their 'signature' is to char the steaks which is fine but I think at this price it's common practice to serve high quality steaks on a hot plate. I ordered medium and it came out medium rare...which, again, is fine when there is a hot plate to tailor the steak prep to my liking. This was literally a cold red center on a cold plate. The cesar salad was boring - iceberg lettuce and parm. The dressing was plain - no kick from anchioves... no anchioves. Really basic and bland. I was disappointed. Not sure if my memory of visits to this restaurant was better but this visit didn't live up to it.

    Not that great. Hostess was horrible-seemed unorganized. She was extremely unfriendly-never even made eye contact. Not how one wants to start their evening. She called my name said my table was ready then I stood there for another 10 minutes while they were fixing another reservation they messed up. Just not what was expected. Food was fair. Lobster bisque was way too rich and I tasted minimal lobster flavor.

    I get the opportunity travel to Chicago for business and have eaten at Gibsons before. But, wife does not so it was important to bring her somewhere she can get the true flavor of Chicago. I find that there is something about Gibsons compared to other steak houses in the city that embody the spirit of the city. The service is always impeccable and the food never disappoints. My wife got the medium well 7 oz filet and took her time eating it. She was amazed that the last piece was as moist as the first. Unlike many higher end steakhouses, Gibsons includes a soup or salad with their steak entrees. The sides are shareable. I have to point out that their cream of mushroom soup has to be one of the best I’ve ever had. I always overindulge and got a 22 oz bone in Ribeye. It’s a bit much with the rest of the accoutrements. As the maitre d explained, during his visit to our table, Gibsons wants to make sure you have plenty to eat and perhaps some to take away. After being fully satiated, and ready for a stroll from eating a very fulfilling meal, we were surprised by an ice cream sundae to celebrate our anniversary, compliments of the house. Value is a very subjective thing when talking about dining, but I find value at Gibsons. Their food is all made in house, including their desserts. Their staff is extremely attentive. Support staff, wait staff, and front of house management were all extremely service oriented and genuinely wanted their guests to have a great experience. Well, mission accomplished!

    The service was exceptional, as always. Unfortunately, for the second consecutive time dining here I had to send the steak back because it was more than two grades of temp off (ordered medium rare and arrived well done). The staff could not have been nicer. They immediately took my plate back to the kitchen, a manager brought a shrimp cocktail to enjoy while I waited, and the second steak arrived as ordered, along with fresh sides for the table. Unfortunately, my business colleagues had finished their meals by the time all this took place. The staff also comp’d our dessert, which was much appreciated. Again, the service was outstanding, and I would recommend the experience for that alone. I was disappointed with the kitchen for a second time. I will still come back, but my enthusiasm for the place is wobbling give the cost of eating here.

    Amongst other items, we ordered two steaks; the $81.00 W.R. Chicago Cut, and a $71.00 14 oz. filet. We requested medium temperature on both steaks, and they both came out raw. The waiter then took both steaks back, apparently had them placed back in the oven, and then they both came back cooked well, but did not taste that good.

    We visited Chicago this weekend to see our granddaughter. We decided to give Gibson’s a try for a celebratory dinner. Gibson’s exceeded our expectations in every way. The food was delicious, the service was flawless, and the ambiance was great. We will surely be back again. Thank you!
