Not our first visit to Gianni's Cafe in Palatine. We were seated very quickly and given bread and water. Then the wait began.......20 minutes passed before our server stops by our table and asked if we would like something to drink.....I had just but a piece of bread in my mouth and was unable to answer with my mouth full...she said she would give me a minute and come right back! 15 minutes later she came back to take our drink and appetizer order. We receive our drinks and appetizer and server returns to take our entree order. After appetizer we receive salads.....then a long wait until our entrees arrive......we were seated in the restaurant 2 hours before our entree was served. I am all about a leisurely meal....but wow....something was really off. No updates during the entree delay. Tables around us (with other servers) were seated one hour after us and had their appetizers and entrees before we were served our entrees? My dinner partner had pasta and I had a shrimp dish and both were very good. We decided to have dessert and ordered gelato - that was served to us more than 1/2 melted!

Excellent food. Food arrived very hot to our table and was very delicious. Our portion and kids portions were very large and can be used for two servings. It definitely got busier as the night progressed but we still had good service.

Greeted at the front desk immediately and then were led to our choice of seating. Loved their many choice menu. The only thing better than the food was our very friendly waitress. Definitely will be going back in the future.

A bit slow to get more water and there should ALWAYS be a busboy on the floor, not all just parked at the food readiness counter! Guacamole Risotto overpriced w/few shrimp for cost and unbalanced taste. Huge kid’s spaghetti & meatballs, good thing kids split it.

Excellent service and food - extremely typical for this, our favorite restaurant in the area. Friendly staff - we were even greeted by a server who was not waiting on us tonight. Highly recommend - everything on the menu is good!

We have been going to Gianni's for at least 10 years an always look forward to great food and great service. This time, the food was definitely off. They have changed the sauce and my baked ziti waved at the oven rather than being put into the oven. We sat outside, the first of three tables outside. The second table had drinks, salad, finished their meal and paid before we even got our entrees. They had a different server. The third table had the same server and was also done ahead of us. In the past, this has been a great spot for us, but never again.

Angi was outstanding and recommended great dishes, which were delicious. We will definitely return. Just too cold - next time we will bring shawls. We thought we would be outside but did not know your outside is all in the sun.

First time dining at Gianni’s Cafe. Knew it was there , but thought it was a cafe. Pleasantly surprised to find it is a full service restaurant including a great bar. Italian decor and easy listening music - which we appreciated! Food, service, menu selection all very good.

Gianni's in downtown Palatine is our go to restaurant. My daughter and son-in-law are visiting us from Tampa and we dined at Gianni's last night. They did not disappoint. All four of us had a different dish and all were delicious. Our server was attentive and helpful. Another great evening!

It was an odd evening for sure- the music became louder and louder - we only discovered after the show that was on TV by the bar was interupted by all red on the map that we realized the music had been turned up to SILENCE the outside tornado sirens. I was NOT impressed that they felt it was safer to turn up the music than simply inform the patrons.

We have been to Gianni's in Palatine many times. Last night did not disappoint. We were seated immediately upon arriving. My husband and I started with a drink and fried calamari appetizer. We both thought this was the best calamari we have ever had. We have it every time we go to Gianni's but last night was exceptional. Fresh bread with oil and herbs for dipping were brought to our table as soon as we were seated. Dinners come with soup or salad and we both had the salad...fresh, crisp and all around good side salad. My husband ordered Braciole. He said it was outstanding and enough left over to get a second meal. I had linguini pasta with an incredible sauce...marinara with Greek olives, onions, garlic, tomatoes (I think anchovies) and more. Unfortunately, I do not remember the name for the sauce. My dinner was a very generous portion with enough left over for a second meal. I will order this again in the future if it's available. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. She came back to our table several times during dinner to make sure we didn't need anything. The frosting on the cake is the value of our meal. Drinks, appetizer, 2 dinners with side salads came to $100 (tip was additional). The ambiance at Gianni's is terrific. Valet parking is offered and there is a ton of parking available. I hope my review prompts you to try Gianni's in Palatine. Great food, great service and great ambiance.
