Great Italian, have never been disappointed. Darcy is keeping the standards as high as Franco. Great to see all the familiar faces again. We will all be returning.
Always enjoy food is consistent. Will miss Franco we knew him from NJ
very overpriced, small portions. very dissapointed after seeing the building on outside. Not worth the money, taramisu was not very good
Best Italian food in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Upscale atmosphere with excellent professional service.
Our first time to Scottsdale and was recommended by a friend. Service was outstanding and the food amazing! Bar tender friendly and made an awesome lemon drop martini! Mitch our waiter was attentive, friendly and every recommendation he made we tried and we're not disappointed! We will definitely be back! Owner ensured that our expectations were exceeded and they were! Live music on a Friday night was entertaining and we created our own dance floor. So fun!
We had a wonderful meal with a very attentive wait staff. We will be returning.
Im sorry to say I am very critical of Italian food since I grew up in a New York Sicilian home filled with aunts and uncles growing tomatoes and making sauce -yes it's sauce not gravy. Gravy is brown.
Gianfranco made a great effort creating dishes I grew up with but the flavors still did not compare. The veal I had was so salty. The seafood salad for appetizer was fishy and pieces of calamari were small-not to mention I had one mussel in my dish. Oh 2 mussels, my hubby and I shared it.
I give him credit for trying, but I've been cooking since I was 13 along several true blood Italians from Palermo , Calabria and more. This was a good try, but not the real deal.
Gianfranco is the gold standard of Italian restaurants in Arizona.
This restaurant will be a favorite for many years to come. Service, food & ambience was exceptional! Thank you for a memorable experience.
They did not have records of our reservation. I made through Open Table. they made accommodations and were able to seat us. Great dining experience! I have already recommended the restaurant to friends and family members. friendly staff and chef came out and greeted us after dinner. Food was amazing, high attention to detail and you can feel the love they put in the food!
Awesome food at this place. Have eaten there numerous times and never had a bad experience or food.
Food and wine outstanding, as always. We missed our regular waiter James, but Ivan took good care of us.
Outstanding, Food, Service, Atmosphere, Franco is The Best , He is a Gem ! Thank Franco for a Great Evening! Everything was exceptional !
I like that the music is not too loud. I hate loud music. I like to hear the conversation at the table or I would of stay home to listen to my own music!
Food is excellent.
Gianfranco's is always a joy and a treat to visit. Food is great and authentic. If you can handle a little noise choose to sit in the bar and Mike will take great care if you. If you like it quieter then choose the dining room. Either way the food an service will be wonderful.
The food served here is consistently good. Portions are generous but not overwhelming. I would like to see some California wines added to the wine list, but the Italian offerings are adequate. Cocktails are well made and "deeply" poured. On this visit my husband had the beet salad, comprised solely of beets and onions. Pretty plain Jane. It was delicious but would have benefited from a bit of greens, maybe a few nuts, a dollup of goat cheese and a dash of imagination. I ordered the Veal Piccata, which was pounded extremely thin and was extremely delicious. My husband ordered the pork special, also pounded; fried, and topped with fontina cheese. He remarked that his meal was exceptional. We always enjoy our dinners here. The service is timely, and always friendly. We keep on coming back because it's a reliably good night of affordable dining. If you are local, you should put this restaurant in "your regular rotation".
This is one of our favorite restaurants in North Scottsdale. The food and service are always excellent and the nightly specials are intriguing. The veal dishes are the best we have had.
4 of us dined last night at, what used to be, our favorite restaurant. Our server was sent home after taking our drink orders, and our new server was fine. They were out of mussels and calamari, and when approaching the owner about this, he basically blew us off. Small crowd at 7:00, filled up a bit afterward. We will not return to a rude owner!
AS ALWAYS, EXCELLENT EVENING. HAVE FOLLOWED HIM THROUGH HIS THREE RESTAURANTS AND FEEL THIS IS THE BEST.
A real disappointment with service tonight. We had to ask for my husband's salad twice. We asked the bus boy. Although it seemed his job to deliver salads to the table next to us, he totally blew us off and never returned with salad. The table next to us had the same waiter so why wouldn't the bus boy make the effort to find out where our salad was or at least tell our waiter? Waiter apologized but later my husband and I got our dessert but my mother didn't get hers. We had to ask for hers to go. This is not acceptable service for a restaurant that charges as much as they do. They did comp salad and dessert but didn't offer further apology. Food here is very good but will wait awhile before I go back.
We immensely enjoyed our food that evening! Everything from start to finish was spectacular!
Always delicious & the service is always very professional.
First time dinning at Gianfranco's and would definitely return the next time I'm in Scottsdale area. Food and service was tops. My wife had the shrimp far diavolo I had the veal valdostona, both were exceptional!
Usually a very good meal, not this visit, pasta overcooked as well as the halibut, my husband had veal marsala that he enjoyed although his pasta was also overcooked. Service was great.
Always have an excellent meal here - the veal dishes are excellent, and the nightly specials are always "special".
Love this restaurant! Food is always fresh and delicious. Order Harry's Bar app. All the pasta is homemade. YUM
Good food & nice ambience
We have been going to Gianfranco for a long time. It might be time for him to retire. Food has really gone downhill the past two years although still "OK". Party of four and only the one with the Sea Bass was pleased. Two with different veal dishes were disappointed with flavor and size of portion. Person with Osso Buco said his was ok.
A hearty meal was enjoyed overall. Dishes were a bit on the salty side to us but plentiful. Servers were pleasant and efficient.
We enjoyed dinner at Gianfranco for the third time in 2 weeks and the excellence continues. Our server Mitch continues to provide great service and the menu choices are extensive. The veal dishes are outstanding as are the chicken dishes. We continue to find Gianfranco to be a go to restaurant as the food is excellent and Mitch provides great service. Try it!
We really enjoy dining at Gianfranco and especially having Mitch as our server. The menu is extensive and we have found all items delicious. The pounds porkchop is outstanding and easy to cut and eat. Service is outstanding. Keep coming back!
You can't go wrong, whatever you order, at Gianfranco. It is rare that I can go to an Italian restaurant and speak Italian with the waiter and the Chef, both were from the Milano and Lombardia - Lago Maggiore. This is a well-established ristorante with elegant food. There were 4 of us and each of our entrees were fabulous. I would highly recommend it.
Pricey. For $28.00 you get chicken breast and side of pasta with marinara. I asked for linguini with olive oil. There was a $12.00 up charge. Not a good value.
We just moved to the community and have bemoaned the lack of good Italian restaurants. We tried Gianfranco and were very pleasantly surprised. Excellent, good quality food, wonderful, professional and pleasant service in a very comfortable atmosphere. The chicken Marsala was excellent as was the fettuccini Bolognase. The bread was so fresh & yummy we were moaning. The prices are on the high side, but it was worth it. There were some noisy couples at a table nearby, and it was a great relief when they left. We will definitely be back.
The veal dishes are outstanding! All of them. And they do a great job with the vegetable that accompanies the veal. Desserts are very tasty, and a good size. We always enjoy our meal at Gianfranco's.
This was my second visit to Gianfranco's. What great food and service. Love both the dining room and bar. A must visit place.
Really good, straight forward Italian food. Good wine list. Great wait staff. Love this place 👍
It was our second dinner at Gianfranco and this visit was better than the first. Mitch our server was outstanding and was attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the burrata salad and my wife found the chicken Milanese delightful. I really enjoyed the veal piccata. Food was outstanding and service excellent. We plan to return soon and recommend you try Gianfranco.
The quality of the food [veal and fish] were below standard for expensive Italian dining. The sauce on the veal [ which was tender] and the sauce on the fish were bland and flavorless. In short, neither dish met our expectations. The pasta was simply over-cooked, while the wine list was well over-priced. For example, one Savignon Blanc wine was priced at $60+ on the menu, that we later saw sold at Safeway for $11.88. We would NOT recommend this restaurant.
Me and my wife went here for the first time on Valentine's day it was very romantic and the food was amazing we will definetly be going back!
