Darcy's Ristorante (FKA Gianfranco by Darcy Ristorante) Ratings and Reviews
Haven't been to this restaurant since before they renovated it. It looks beautiful and very upscale! I was excited to take my boyfriend and his family that was visiting from the midwest. Oscar the bartender that has worked there ( and another local favorite for years) was not there on March 1st. We made a reservation and were seated by the window. We had a clear view of the entire dining room. Our family member looked to us and dark window. It was a little busy but not filled. Our server Brian greeted us and seemed very energetic and upbeat. Taking our beverage order and explaining the specials he returned to take our order. As a pescatarian and not feeling well, I just opted for soup/salad. I asked if they had eggplant as I seemed to recall having it the last time I was there. He said no, but if we came back he'd give me a card and we could call/ request it in advance. I appreciated that offer. Pretty much after that we saw every other server/bus person than Brian. We had finished our first beverages and no one came around. I could see Brian crouching beside his other tables chatting away and at one point sitting on a chair joining one of his tables. As frequent diners all over town ourselves, we can understand that when you're a regular. However as we hadn't visited this location ( 3 miles from our new home ) together before, I would think we would have had a somewhat attentive" welcome to the neighborhood"service?
Finally after I watched him butterfly all over the room, without even looking back at us, I took my empty wine glass to the bar to order another glass of wine and a beer for my boyfriend.
The food was pretty good, but the service was beyond disappointing. No manager ever approached to double check. No one was at the door when we left. Our family had paid the check.. Next visit We will just sit at the bar, if we have out of town guests, we will take them where we know we can get great service.
Dinner at Gianfanco was one of the finest recent dining experiences I have had. The veal selection was amazing and deliciious. Some of the best I have ever tasted. Service was excellent. A terrific dining experience. Not rushed. Very well done. Recommended.
This was our second visit within one week. First trip was great. Second trip was on Valentines day, big mistake, the dining room and our waiter were slammed and service was bad. On the bright side the room was full of very friendly people and the management was very apologetic. Interesting evening. We will be back.
We went there for a Valentine's day. So it's a little long wait and I got the wrong order. However he made changes to the right order for us without charges. Overall Foods were quite good. We loved the shrimp spicy pasta. Pasta tastes were really good. It's quite authentic Italian food. We will go back again to try something else.
Let me start by saying, I have heard great things about this restaurant since it is under new management. The food was excellent and the waiter was great. Yes I know I was there on Valentines Day, but I had a reservation and was seated in the WORST seat in the restaurant. It was next to the server/wait station and in the kitchen area. The wait/server staff conversation was SO loud my husband and I could not carry on a conversation, NOT romantic on Valentines Day. And so unnecessary because the restaurant was only 25-30% full when we arrived. No reason we could not have been seated in the main dinning room., and our request was denied. VERY DISSAPPOINTED our day was ruined and since we our locals we have shared this with our friends.
Genuine Italian food with a matching atmosphere to finish off a perfect setting for any special occasion. Cozy dining room with most tables being set for two. There are a couple of larger family settings for up to six. The bar area is small and a good place for a cocktail with a friend. The service was very good and extremely polite. There is also a small patio seating area with a great view of Pinnacle Peak. Well worth the short drive to North Scottsdale! Prices are as expected for this type of fine dining.
We had a reservation for 7:45. We were not seated until 8:20. Only After checking in 3 times. All the while people who came in after us were seated. Once we got seated, We were served bread 20-30 minutes later. One slice each. At about 1 hour to 1 hr and 15 minutes we got our salad and soup. And finally the main meal was delivered about 2 hours in. The food was excellent. But the entire night was 2 hrs and 45 minutes. With no dessert. That s a longggggggggg time. Tooooo long.
Incredible wine list and service that is beyond comparison the quality of food is the best of the best the multitude of wait staff provided a fine bottle of Aglianico and decanted it using a venturi only wine aficionados would understand what this is. This is the level of detail provided in this fantastic restaurant and therefore it receives my highest recommendation.
