Giancarlo's Ratings and Reviews
Had the best meal! My (now) Fiance surprised me by changing the reservation to include my entire family and his for an engagement party 20 minutes after proposing. We sat in the bar area and he had ordered family style for everyone. Each food item was better than the next, the staff was very attentive, best night ever.
We were there for happy hour and then dinner following. We had a large group for happy hour and were able to sit down with a server and all of the appetizers and drinks were delicious!
When we sat down for dinner around 7:45pm, our server did not bring anything to our table for an hour- not even bread. When we received our dishes, my food and another guests food was COLD, not even room temperature. Nobody likes cold risotto. My husband's entree was delicious but extremely small portion size. My dessert, crime brûlée was very good. My husband got "tiramisu" which was NOTHING like the traditional dessert. It was extremely disappointing and actually gross.
I would recommend this place for appetizers and drinks, but unfortunately not for dinner. It's been hit or miss the last two years I've been there. Unfortunate!
Giancarlo's is a great place to go not only for a quick bite but an anniversary as well and is nothing but classy and great to go for either pizza or a burger or if you want to grab a luscious steak. Giancarlo's is always vibrant and filled with numerous amounts of people enjoying authentic Italian food and good times.
The staff made our birthday celebration spectacular. Our seating was outside and the weather and ambiance couldn't have been more perfect. Joe, our server, was wonderful. The appetizer meatball was amazing, as always. Our table entrees consisted of delmonicos, filets, chicken parm, and crab encrusted salmon. They were all delicious and enjoyed. The desserts were just mouth watering. The macaroons are always my favorite.
Highly recommended and a perfect dinner location!
Waitress made us wait 45 mins even tho we already had a reservation. The reservation was also for outside seating online and I confirmed via phone, but they mentioned I didn't not have outside reservation (?). Anyways, food was great and it could've been a better experience.
Can't go wrong with Italian food or a nice steak! No better place to go than Giancarlo's. Great service, great food, everyone is lively and having a good time. Giancarlo's is always vibrant and a fantastic place to go grab a burger for lunch or celebrate an anniversary with that special someone.
We had a party of 8 for a weekend dinner. The food was good, as was the wine, but it wasn't outstanding. While the steak was cooked perfectly, it felt like something was missing...like it wasn't as flavorful as it should have been. The Arancini appetizer was delicious, as was the Calamari, but the Oysters were dull and flavorless (and in two out of the 12, gritty). Our server was friendly and personable, but at times, it was difficult to get his attention, and some portions of the meals ordered were not brought out until we asked again for them.
All in all, it wasn't a bad meal, but for the price paid, I was expecting a lot more. A recent night out at another Buffalo-area restaurant with the same group of friends resulted in better food for less money. Not sure that I would return to Giancarlo's.
We had a table in the back room and two other tables seated for dinner. The room was nice and private although the service really slowed down after we ordered appetizers and drinks. We were seated at 6:50 pm and ordered by 7:00 pm, we then received our appetizers around 7:30, then weren't asked about ordering dinner until 8:15 pm. It seemed that we were out of site out of mind for our waiter. We had to flag down a different waiter for dessert menu then requested our bill to come with dessert. We left at 10:00 pm
Max was very knowledgeable and friendly. It would have been better if service in the room was more attentive. I will go back but not to seat in a back room unless it's for a private party.
The restaurant was beautiful, and the staff was friendly. But it was very noisy. They need to dampen the sound. It's difficult to hear someone across the table from you. Our waiter did not stop by the table very often. The food was good, but not supportive of the price charged. My Delmonico steak was nicely done, but it wasn't a $40 steak. It's clearly a nice restaurant for locals to gather.
A most consistent restaurant and longtime favorite of ours.
Had a problem with a request for an outdoor table-lower level. Was fairly unhappy since I
was entertaining out-of-town guests. Beautifully diffused by the very concerned and professional maître d', Michael Chiari.
Our party of eight requested multiple small plates all of which were innovative and delicious.
Entire large wait staff way beyond competent and consistently pleasant.
Will return often
