About Gia Ristorante Italiano
Fabrizio Laudati, a seasoned restaurateur, has brought his Italian style to Marin County and its residents along with co-chef Stefano Guasco.
Laudati owned four Italian restaurants in San Francisco, including Bella Trattoria, Baldoria and Panta Rei.
Together with Guasco, they created a simple, authentic Italian menu with a modern twist from the Lazio region of central Italy — pastas, osso buco, lamb, chicken, pork and steaks.

Gia Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
First experience. We were seated in the worst two-top available directly next to the kitchen doors, though other two-tops were vacant and remained so during our time there. This table should be removed. I feared injury by the hard-working colliding staff. Started with an involtini appetizer, rolled eggplant slices with ricotta and salmon. The tomato sauce was excellent, but the appetizer was cold. Not lukewarm, but chill - ricotta and small tasteless flecks of salmon which would probably risen up if warmer.
The sound level is violent. Impossible to have a conversation.
Service was fine and professional.
It was a BUSY Saturday night at Gia when we visited and our table wasn't ready at our reserved time. But, after waiting for a few minutes, we were given a complimentary glass of champagne for the inconvenience. It was a very appreciated gesture and made the few minutes extra wait more enjoyable. Like I said, it was extremely busy and the kitchen was a bit backed up but the waiters handled it in stride...making jokes, keeping things light and a nice pour of vino in a time when most restaurants barely give you a couple of sips. I had the salmon and it was nicely done...cooked perfectly and I loved the artichoke that it sat upon. The other garnishes were a tad on the cold side but it didn't ruin the dish. My husband got the gnocchi and it was a plate of pillowy scrumptiousness! The bread was delicious and came with a side of oil an vinegar....yum! I will definitely return as I feel like the staff was going the extra mile in providing good service and the food was authentic Italian!
Simply stated: mi piace tantissimo!
Having lived in and travelled to Italy for decades - and in particular Rome and the Amalfi Coast - I am extremely discerning when it comes to eating at Italian restaurants in the US. What I find so wonderful about Gia, is the owners and staff have truly delivered a Roman experience to Marin County, California. The staff is engaging, the food authentic and high quality as we expect in Marin, and atmosphere is 'proprio Italiano' (not American-Italian... this is Italian-Italian)! And I absolutely love it and recommend it. Bravo!
This was our first time at Gia and we will definitely return. We like the ambiance. The menu has a lot of choices that I would have been happy with. I had pizza and it was a perfect size for 1 person and very tasty. My husband had ravioli and thought it was excellent.
Service and food were outstanding. Limited menu but all 3 dishes (2 pastas & lamb shank on the best polenta ever) were perfect. Chocolate mousse incredible. The cappuccino was better than any coffee house in North Beach. I'm in the area twice a month and am hopeful lasagna will be on the menu on my next visit.
We wanted to try Gia after a concert which was close by. We both had the Salmon which was very good. The wait staff was attentive and took care of any issues we had. We had no room for dessert so not able to comment on that other than this menu seemed quite pricey considering the type of restaurant.
It is very rare to feel completely at home from the minute you walk into a restaurant. It is clear that this restaurant has many regulars - but even for us "newbies" the care of the staff and chefs is obvious. The Porchetta Romana was a good starter, and the Pappardelle Alla Bolognese and Gia Vongole E Asparagi were both delicious pasta dishes. Paolo was very gracious in explaining the Italian varieties of wines. The dinner was finished off with a wonderful pear tart! Bravo!
Everytime we go to Gia we are amazed at the friendly service, the delicious food and what a great value for the money. The staff can't do enough yet they know when to make themselves invisable.
Can't say enough about this great neighborhood place.
This is a continuation as somehow my review disappeared. The salad was tasty but for what it was it was overpriced at $12. The Salmon we had was very well prepared sitting on a bed of potatoes and other veggies. We both had the same dinner and enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it. I have to say we would definitely return soon and hope they do well there as it is a welcome addition to Marin.
