Gia Ristorante Italiano
Laudati owned four Italian restaurants in San Francisco, including Bella Trattoria, Baldoria and Panta Rei.
Together with Guasco, they created a simple, authentic Italian menu with a modern twist from the Lazio region of central Italy — pastas, osso buco, lamb, chicken, pork and steaks.

The calamari was overcooked . The pasta was undercooked. And clumped together. And the flavors poorly executed... some bits too salty, others lacking the classic and rich flavors of Italian cuisine.
The service was friendly but uneven. If you are going to charge these prices, you need to deliver a better experience.
Excellent service and food, we will be back for sure!
A loud and vibrant neighborhood restaurant with passable Italian food and a boisterous casual noisy atmosphere. Not a place for a first date.
Delicious Tiramisu!!! This is a die for! Awesome service through out the time
Awesome authentic Italian. Must try the raviolo with rib eye filling!
Wonderful wine list and the Italian waiters make for a fun dining experience.
Another great dinner at Gia.
Perfect meal, great service, lovely ambiance. Looking forward to our next visit!
Great service, attentive waitstaff. Very reasonable prices. Will visit again.
Food was mediocre. Pasta was over cooked and slightly tasteless. Service was nice but really didn’t care when we told them he pasta was mushy.
Our reservation was at 7:15 but we didn’t get seated until 7:45. It was frustrating that they didn’t even offer us wine while we waited. When we finally got seated and ordered, the appetizer and salads came out quickly but then we had to wait another hour for our entrees to come out. We didn’t get our entrees until after 9 pm. The server never really checked in with us and then didn’t even offer us dessert which is frustrating. That said, while we would have wanted dessert, everything took so long that we had to get home to relieve the babysitter. They did offer us four canollis on the house, but none of us wanted them and they were pretty gross. Frustrating that they didn’t do more to make up for the poor service.
If you don’t have the time nor inclination to fly to Italy to eat authentic Italian food then just make a reservation at Gia. Owned and operated by Italians...it’s the real thing. The most authentic Italian food I’ve had in the Bay Area. Handmade pastas, incredible depth of flavor. Wine selection is perfectly matched to the menu too.
The food and and service are consistently great
You feel like you're coming home when you go to Gia. The staff greets you as though you're an old friend. The restaurant offers a great combination of friendly service and a warm atmosphere. The menu has a lot of variety, so everyone can find something they like. The Insalata de zucchine is light and tasty and the carbonara pasta is deliciously rich and just like what you would get in Italy. The tiramisu is a classic and irresistible. This place is a neighborhood gem.
Great little restaurant. Wonderful menu, authentically Italian. Fantastic food. The cauliflower steak was incredible. We loved our waiter - fun, informative and so very ITALIAN. We will return!
A lovely evening with delicious food, great service and atmosphere
Knowledgeable, attentive, friendly staff.
the staff and the servers always greet us warmly as if we are old friend
Always good food and warm reception from owners/operators
The menu might seem modest in the number of items compared to that of some other venues, but the dishes, from appetizers to main courses, and desserts are deliciously nourishing. The pasta is made in house. Every time I opted for a pasta dish the times I dined here, I felt transported to Italy. Great selections of wine to complement the food. The service too is outstanding, with friendly and engaging staff.
Great restaurant with very authentic Italian food and ambiance.
The food was terrific. We started with carpaccio and burrata and both were delicious. Then pasta and a very creative cauliflower steak. All were great!
This is such a welcome addition to our community. Great, authentic food at a reasonable price. Fresh ingredients and good wine. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Great food & people!
Great service Food and atmosphere! Real Italiano
Homemade pasta was delicious! Want to go back and try them all-very Italian!
Great neighborhood restaurant!
Very inventive and delicious preparations. Wine list is pricey. Waiter was inattentive. Room grew loud as it filled up, but quieted again later. Worth trying again, however.
Birthday they made it special
Had a great dinner on NY Eve. Celebrated with another couple next to us.
The location is easy to miss if you're not familiar with the immediate area, which is too bad because this place is very much worth finding. The creative flavors and the passion and care with which the dishes are made, combined with equally passionate and caring service, make Gia a great dining destination. The pastas are all fresh, which makes a huge difference in texture and taste. The bucatini all'amatriciana was tangy and spicy in a classic rich, tomato-based sauce, with the meat tender and moist (not dried out or stringy from being too long in the sauce), and the pasta cooked to al dente perfection (chewy without having the undercooked feel one can get from dried pasta). The lamb shanks literally fell off the bone, with a rich sauce that was well complemented by the creamy polenta. But the "pork candies"...I've never had anything like it. I was skeptical because I don't usually like fruity flavors with meats, but it looked intriguing, so I gave it a try, and so glad I did! Unlike the cloying sweetness of many traditional treatments of pork, this dish was a creative flavor sensation combination of fresh zest, tanginess, saltiness, and a hint of sweetness. And our server enthusiastically shared his wine recommendations, bringing samples to try that paired wonderfully with the dishes we had.
Good, but not great. Had a nice eggplant appetizer that was real good, but temp of dish was inconsistent. And had the Bucatini, pasta and sauce were great, but the guanciale tasted like pieces of over cooked pork chop. It was an odd bite.
The food is always fresh, healthy, and changes daily. No complaints from the chef when you want a specially prepared dish either.
This was our first time at Gia. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the service was great. The menu, while not extensive (which allows them to focus and perfect their dishes), changes often so it keeps things fresh, new and interesting. We will be back.
Very pleasant service made us laugh out loud! Great finish to end a week! Will definitely come back!
I always enjoy Gia's. Authentic and the service is well informed. However, the restaurant is drafty and if you are like me, sensitive to cold, sit in the back and away form the windows. I tried to make sure the door to the patio was closed but the kitchen crew kept opening it.
Always great, always consistent! Friendly and fun staff. Perfect date night choice.
By far one of the best service and very good food. They made sure that we get the best dining experience. Definitely 5 star!
True, authentic Italian food, great service from both waitperson, owner and busser. We go there quite often and they always bring us our favorite wine and dessert without us even having to order them. Lovely place!
My favorite restaurant in Larkspur. Great staff, great food.
