Opened in 1999, Ghandi Caf serves authentic Anglo-Indian cuisine. Present in a quiet neighborhood, Ghandi Caf offers an intimate space and an opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of NYC.
Customers at the restaurant can enjoy Indian classical music while they eat. Appetizers include the cheese poori and the onion bhaji. Notable main dishes on the menu include the chicken tikka masala and the butter chicken. Both dishes are served with garlic naan. The restaurant is good for kids and has a casual ambiance. A good place for lunch and dinner, Ghandi Caf has a friendly and efficient staff. Apart from the Indian food, diners can enjoy seafood specialties and desserts such as gulab jamon and kulfi.
Casual sit down spot. Food was hit or miss (lentil dish was great but the naan bread was more like a dense pizza crust?!).
Waited a full hour and still didn’t have our appetizers or entrees. Had to practically stand in front of someone to get service.
This was my first visit and I won’t be back.
The food was delicious, and the waiter friendly. I can't wait to go back!
The restaurant presents itself online as a lively, colorful Indian restaurant. In fact it is a dreary, whitewashed narrow and dark space with no charm. The food is just plain awful. The rice was so dry it was almost crunchy and the sauces were flavorless. I do not recommend this restaurant.
The food was not good at all.
Friendly, family run restaurant with attentive staff. Large menu offering many choices, good for vegetarians, vegans and omnivores. Simply decorated, reasonably priced and excellent food.
