Our server Joe was fantastic and made some great recommendations.
The foid was delicious and its great after touring the museum.
The dessert chef did a fabulous birthday dessert.
It was perfect for the occasion.
I always enjoy going there.
Gertrude’s is always a great choice. I’m usually there for brunch, but this week I had dinner. The pan fried chicken was excellent. The portion was huge and the mashed potatoes and broccoli were fine sides. The bread/biscuits were also a worthwhile addition.
I love crab cakes more than any food in the world. The crab cakes get a thumbs up from me!!
Wonderful meal and venue. A little too loud at Sunday brunch though, we had trouble hearing each other.
The service was prompt, the food was incredible, and accommodating as I have food restrictions. I cannot wait to return!
Delightful experience! We greatly enjoy dining at Gertrude's.
I am very upset with my visit here. We were there to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday and I am very displeased with the experience. We were seated for 20 minutes before a waiter came to the table. At bat point, we had to make the hostess aware so she could send someone. I ordered a seafood pasta expecting crabmeat as listed on the menu but there was no crabmeat present. The pasta was also very salty so I had to send it back. It was very crowded and loud and it was cold.
Wonderful, inventive food combined with service that’s pleasant and attentive.
Great customer service, fast service, and nice menu.
I would not recommend the crab quiche. No flavor!
I had the Indonesian Tuna Steak and was very satisfied! The Berger cookie cheesecake was delicious, too. Our server was not attentive; I ordered red wine and was served a white. He seemed to be overwhelmed with his other tables, so I didn’t say anything. Overall, I was happy, and will likely return.
Everone seems to enjoy the ambiance at Gertrudes and we did as well. The server was nice and the wine list is affordable and matches the seafood. The only negative was we had mini crab cakes with the appetizers and an entree crab cake and the crab had no lump and was mushy and not flavorful. I have encountered this here before and the Yelp cake photos look much better. Perhaps this reflects them being put of season, and they should serve them seasonally? The vegan eater also had a south asian stir fry that lacked flavor. The chowder and blackened shrimp pasta were good.
Great as always. Even better w/ Tuesday special menus.
My only comment is that perhaps the menu be varied....Seems that the menu has been the same for some time...........a few surprises might be nice. Love your restaurant!!!!!!!
Although the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived for our reservation we were given a poor table right inside the door. No mention was made of my daughter's birthday although it was on the reservation. Service was off at the beginning as we seemed to hit the meal changeover/ shift change. Once we were assigned a dinner server and got the correct menus it smoothed out. The menu is limited and portions are small for the price point. We will not return.
I attended the Ingenuity Project Community Night and LOVED it. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items. Our meals were delicious. On my table, we ordered pasta and seafood (2), Indonesian tuna, Cous cous, and spinach salad with chicken. Everyone loved their dinners! We relaxed and weren't rushed. I have to add that the ambiance is lovely - I like the dimmer lighting and warm environment - too upscale to be called cozy, but that's a good thing. I finally met John Shields, chef extraordinaire - and he is such a gentleman. We'll continue to frequent Gertrude's!
Everything (food ,service , and ambiance ) were excellent.
Appreciation for Large Variety in food choices
Quality of food
Amount of food
Attitude of servers
Didn't like Pay for parking
As usual, Gertrude's was very good. The portions are generous and the service is great.
The butternut squash risotto had a very sweet sauce, maybe even maple syrup. Did not go well with shrimp and scallops. despite not being crowded we waited too long for the check. Still love the place but it was not their finest hour
Appreciated them honoring our reservation when we were 20 mins late; however restaurant was jammed with lots of toddlers/babies crying, food was lukewarm when served, waiter was more than a tad foregetful.
I took out-of-town guests to Gertrude's for Sunday brunch and it was terrible. First, the hostess kept disappearing so it took forever to get seated despite having reservations and being on time. Some people got fed up and just went and sat themselves down at tables. They lost our order between the server and kitchen, so it was 90 minutes from our order to actually getting food! And no one seemed to notice -- until we asked. Then they apologized and offered us a complimentary drink. And then the food was mediocre at best. I had the eggs benedict -- the eggs were over cooked, the hollandaise sauce was very sparse, and the english muffins were barely toasted so were soft and not crunchy. They did give us 50% off the meal, but I don't plan to go back.
I took my grandmother out for a weekend brunch date and she loved it! The service was outstanding and the food was excellent, as usual. It's in a great location and being attached to the BMA is a plus.
It was a special day of birthday celebrations and Gertrude’s helped make the day as always! The food was fabulous and our server, Justin, was just the best! Also, the lovely surprise birthday desert was so unique! Thanks for helping to make the day!
Wonderful food & experience and our server that evening was exceptional!
Excellent meal with good service. The menu always has a wide variety of interesting choices. Server was knowledgeable and friendly.
Crab soup was excellent. House made ginger soda was good. Wonderful breads. An elegant dining room which also felt casual.
We were extremely disappointed in our visit to Gertrude's this time. My friend (who hadn't been there before) took me there for my birthday. I made the reservation via Open Table, and despite it being advertised as a 1000 point reservation, I got 100 points. Not sure if that is on the restaurant's end or Open Table's. I checked the menu online before going and they hadn't updated their menu or pricing for their Tuesday night specials. There was a big difference when we got there. No matter, because I knew how good Gertrude's is, right? Wrong! Instead of their usual crab cake dinner, on Tuesdays they offer a "Boardwalk" crab cake that is fried. While it does have some crab in it, it is a lot of filler that seemed to be like mashed potatoes. Very disappointing! When we got to dessert, there was one item listed on the Tuesday menu and we inquired if that was the only dessert choice. The waitress said it was wonderful but that there were many more choices. When she presented us with the list, we opted for the Berger cookie cheesecake. Instead we got the dessert that was listed on the menu for Tuesdays with white chocolate and crumbled Heath bars. It wasn't bad, but it clearly wasn't what we ordered and it was compounded by the waitress trying to reassure us that the bombe in front of us was indeed Berger cookie cheesecake but the cookies were ground up fine in the cake. Seriously??? She repeated this several times as she tried to convince us that we had gotten cheesecake. So overall, the "special" Tuesday nights at Gertrude's are not all that special and I would have to consider going back at all in the future.
We're regulars at Gertrude's... Its always a great experience. The food, service...alwasy top notch. And they have a special $15.00 menu on Tuesdays
I have been to Gertrude’s for brunch, lunch, and dinner and have never been disappointed. The staff’s attention to detail is meticulous. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 45 years and I know how hard everyone has to work to create such a wonderful experience for his or her guests.
My cousin and I arrived 1 hour early on Sunday February 18 for our 6:30 dinner reservation. The hostess graciously seated us early for our reservation, and our server was amazing. (I forgot her name but she was bartending and waiting tables.)
Everyone knows the food is always great at Gertrude’s and is always presented beautifully by a kind and well-trained staff. However I love going to Gertrude’s because I never feel rushed when I am dinning I am able to relax and enjoy my food, my wine, the beautiful ambience, and EXCELLENT SERVICE!
My cousin, her daughter, and I were getting into the car and we all said at the same time that was a perfect evening and I feel so relaxed. Thank you to management and their staff for such a wonderful evening.
Gertrude's never fails to disappoint! I often overlook this neighborhood gem at the Baltimore Museum of Art and then when I dine there, remind myself I should eat there more often. The seafood is John Shield's specialty and the kitchen is incredible about honoring special dietary requests.
I thought my brunch date at Gertrude's could NOT have possibly gone better. From the hostess to the server to the food and the reception my date and I received, it was a wonderful experience. The hostess complimented my date and I on what a beautiful couple we made. Our server was attentive yet unobtrusive. The food and beverages were delicious. I will be back. Thank you for such a delightful experience, from start to finish.
Never fails to deliver, excellent service and menu. Good portions and fresh. Well worth the price. Even better that ingredients are locally sourced.
The food was amazing. Everything was lovely and the service was very quick. I definitely will be going back.
All our brunch meals were delicious. the desserts were very good too. Friendly waiter.
Brunch with a best friend. Great experience for me as always!
She was less impressed with her meal but will give a second chance. To each her own.
attentive service. Well received appetizers, entrees and desserts
Took BFF there for pre-show dinner. Our waiter, Mark, was great. Both of us thought our meals were fantastic. My friend, who had never been to Gertrude's, was completely delighted with the ambience: the tiny white lights, candles, flowers, etc. It was both elegant and casual at the same time! We loved that we didn't have to get dressed up (but could have if we'd wanted); we both wore jeans. My friend was so pleased she's planning to bring her father to G's soon. A wonderful meal, a great time, and we were out in time to make curtain.
