It was a special day of birthday celebrations and Gertrude’s helped make the day as always! The food was fabulous and our server, Justin, was just the best! Also, the lovely surprise birthday desert was so unique! Thanks for helping to make the day!
Wonderful food & experience and our server that evening was exceptional!
Excellent meal with good service. The menu always has a wide variety of interesting choices. Server was knowledgeable and friendly.
Crab soup was excellent. House made ginger soda was good. Wonderful breads. An elegant dining room which also felt casual.
We were extremely disappointed in our visit to Gertrude's this time. My friend (who hadn't been there before) took me there for my birthday. I made the reservation via Open Table, and despite it being advertised as a 1000 point reservation, I got 100 points. Not sure if that is on the restaurant's end or Open Table's. I checked the menu online before going and they hadn't updated their menu or pricing for their Tuesday night specials. There was a big difference when we got there. No matter, because I knew how good Gertrude's is, right? Wrong! Instead of their usual crab cake dinner, on Tuesdays they offer a "Boardwalk" crab cake that is fried. While it does have some crab in it, it is a lot of filler that seemed to be like mashed potatoes. Very disappointing! When we got to dessert, there was one item listed on the Tuesday menu and we inquired if that was the only dessert choice. The waitress said it was wonderful but that there were many more choices. When she presented us with the list, we opted for the Berger cookie cheesecake. Instead we got the dessert that was listed on the menu for Tuesdays with white chocolate and crumbled Heath bars. It wasn't bad, but it clearly wasn't what we ordered and it was compounded by the waitress trying to reassure us that the bombe in front of us was indeed Berger cookie cheesecake but the cookies were ground up fine in the cake. Seriously??? She repeated this several times as she tried to convince us that we had gotten cheesecake. So overall, the "special" Tuesday nights at Gertrude's are not all that special and I would have to consider going back at all in the future.
We're regulars at Gertrude's... Its always a great experience. The food, service...alwasy top notch. And they have a special $15.00 menu on Tuesdays
I have been to Gertrude’s for brunch, lunch, and dinner and have never been disappointed. The staff’s attention to detail is meticulous. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 45 years and I know how hard everyone has to work to create such a wonderful experience for his or her guests.
My cousin and I arrived 1 hour early on Sunday February 18 for our 6:30 dinner reservation. The hostess graciously seated us early for our reservation, and our server was amazing. (I forgot her name but she was bartending and waiting tables.)
Everyone knows the food is always great at Gertrude’s and is always presented beautifully by a kind and well-trained staff. However I love going to Gertrude’s because I never feel rushed when I am dinning I am able to relax and enjoy my food, my wine, the beautiful ambience, and EXCELLENT SERVICE!
My cousin, her daughter, and I were getting into the car and we all said at the same time that was a perfect evening and I feel so relaxed. Thank you to management and their staff for such a wonderful evening.
Gertrude's never fails to disappoint! I often overlook this neighborhood gem at the Baltimore Museum of Art and then when I dine there, remind myself I should eat there more often. The seafood is John Shield's specialty and the kitchen is incredible about honoring special dietary requests.
I thought my brunch date at Gertrude's could NOT have possibly gone better. From the hostess to the server to the food and the reception my date and I received, it was a wonderful experience. The hostess complimented my date and I on what a beautiful couple we made. Our server was attentive yet unobtrusive. The food and beverages were delicious. I will be back. Thank you for such a delightful experience, from start to finish.
Never fails to deliver, excellent service and menu. Good portions and fresh. Well worth the price. Even better that ingredients are locally sourced.
The food was amazing. Everything was lovely and the service was very quick. I definitely will be going back.
All our brunch meals were delicious. the desserts were very good too. Friendly waiter.
Brunch with a best friend. Great experience for me as always!
She was less impressed with her meal but will give a second chance. To each her own.
attentive service. Well received appetizers, entrees and desserts
There was a large table of patrons that were celebrating something so was very loud. But after they left better. The crab cake special was great and berry salad was okay but grilled shrimp was over cooked. We had to ask for bread that was delivered to others as a matter of course. . But all in all a very pleasant experience.
Everything about Gertrude's feels special - the helpful, discrete service; the variety of entree selections; the scrumptious food! We will be back soon!
Another delicious meal with impeccable service. Gertrude's is a favorite.
Lovely restaurant, delicious food in a great museum. Enjoy a special day out in the museum and a fabulous meal. This restaurant will not disappoint. We brought relatives from Florida and they were really impressed with the quality and variety. One of our guests is a Vegetarian and there was many options for her as well. We live in the suburbs it will become our place to take all our guests no need to go to DC!
I love Gertrude’s! Bustling on a Tuesday night. Wonderful food - I had 3 course dinner deal - very nice. Only complaint was not hot coffee which the waiter took care of.
Love the great choice of crab cakes! John does a super job minding the place
Classy, but not snooty, atmosphere. Excellent consistent food choices and prep. Pricey, but that's what one expects in a museum restaurant. Well-trained staff. Friendly, but not intrusive.
One of the nicer places in the city.
In Baltimore for conference went to the BMA for coupe hours then dinner at Gertrude's. Wonderful selections. The I cant believe its not crab was very nice. spinach a little salty.
Really enjoyed the sorbet sampler, pear best, apple bourbon rasberry and butter squash were our group if 4s vote.
Best brunch in Baltimore! Gertrude’s is a favorite spot for lunch, dinner and brunch. The food is always fresh and prepared perfectly. Service is outstanding. Jazz at brunch was delightful.
Very disappointed with the Valentines Tea. Arrived 5 minutes early and was told our table was being prepared. 15 minutes later I inquired again and we were seated with many open tables. My tea curdled when I added cream- was there lemon in my cup. Server was not attentive- had to ask for a second tea bag on my 3rd pot- very small pots. Lastly, my favorite, the salmon salad was a tiny portion, though the table near us had a much larger sandwich. As Gertrudes is our special occasion restaurant, this was not up to your usual standards.
It's worth the hour drive and every bite is fabulous!
We were seated 15 minutes early, given great service by Jeff, the food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect. Thank you for a great night out!
Gertrude's has become a true Baltimore staple known for great food, a warm and welcoming environment and over all excellent value.
My companion and I enjoyed a light lunch of the soup de jour (delicious honey squash puree), spicy vegetarian chili, and classic Caesar salad. Despite the tables being full and the wait staff very busy, our waitpersons were attentive and John Shields himself came by to greet us. It was great.
Delicious food, excellent service, relatively quiet to allow for conversation, and good menu selection.
My experience was most pleasing. Service is attentive, new cocktail was excellent, food was most rewarding. I had catfish and loved it; prepared different than the usual. Most enjoyable lunch. This restaurant is a BIG WINNER! SERVICE, FOOD & AMBIANCE.
