Gertrude's - Baltimore
To our Indoor Diners: we are fortunate to have a very sophisticated small particle air filtration system in our dining room, thanks to the museum.
We have implemented many safety precautions during this current time, including reducing the number of tables available indoors; and requiring all guests who are indoors to wear masks when not seated at a table.
If you encounter any problems with booking online, please do not hesitate call us at 410-889-3399 so we can personally assist you. Thank you!

Randy, our server, was most attentive and the food presented in a very timely manner. It’s not the first or even the tenth time dining at Gertrude’s. I was not disappointed!
Great Sunday brunch, felt accommodated with Covid protocols. Delicious.
Tent was freezing and no flavor in crab soup
The Kenny family loves Gertrude’s.The food and service are consistently excellent. We will be back,
We came for the Krautfest dinner special and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and service was good. Looking forward to coming back soon.
Nice restaurant but food was questionable. I had lunch there and ordered the turkey club at around $17. But when I received the sandwich, it was processed turkey roll rather than fresh turkey. Even Jersey diners use fresh turkey on these sandwiches and they are considerably cheaper. Shame, the atmosphere was pleasant and service was professional. Advice to owner/chef: use real turkey in your sandwhiches - this is not 1978.
Service was inconsistent and infrequent. Food presented nicely and unique but up to standards of a fine dining restaurant. I had a coated salmon entree that was very skimpy on the salmon, my wife had a chicken salad that omitted the grapes described on the menu.
We had to ask for water and salt & pepper, waiter didn't stop by and became involved in sorting used plates, dessert was disappointing and came with not-described vegan ice cream (yuck).
Great restaurant to top off a terrific museum experience.
We had a wonderful lunch at Gertrudes. The food and service were excellent. We sat in the tent outside and the heat machines made a loud whooshing sound. It would have been a better choice to sit inside, which we'll do next time. BTW, the BMA sculpture garden, museum store and exhibits are also outstanding.
Wonderful lunch to celebrate my husband’s birthday after visiting the Matisse exhibit.
Unfortunately, we dined the night that several staff members were diagnosis as covid positive. I learned this from a friend who arrived, only to be told her reservation was cancelled.
Indeed, many reservations were cancelled as a result of the vivid diagnosis. Mine was not. Not sure why. Timing, perhaps. However, the dining room cleared quickly, the menu options were limited and what was served was not at the level of excellence I am accustomed to from Gertrude’s.
Really lovely! Half price wine Wednesdays is a steal and the whisky flight was generous at only 15$.
This was a lovely meal for my birthday and a great way to fortify ourselves before exploring the Matisse exhibit. We felt fairly Covid safe in the outdoor seating. The wait staff is very professional and responsive. We'll eat here again for sure.
Fine. Middle America - Not Gertrude’s, or my - Paris France.
I chose this place to sit down and grab a bite with my mom and my brother. I visited once before COVID and hoped that the experience would be just as pleasant. It was. We were seated upon arriving. The waitress was prompt and made some great recommendations. The food was tasty and my mom and brother enjoyed their selections. The only downside was I had to ask for bags for our leftovers. That should not have occurred, but then the waitress made some excuse about not knowing the situation about giving our bags. Hmph.
Gertrude's continues to win with its focus on Chesapeake Bay regional foods. Small but well-chosen selection of Virginia oysters. Rockfish was excellent, as were the accompanying mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. New to us this time were house-made sodas; loved the blood orange flavor.
Very good meal last week. Our waitress (can't recall her name, she' British) was outstanding. The wine list has more variety than it used to (not just American wines). We'll be back !
The food was okay, the service was cool. Not overly impressive but it wasn't bad.
We had lunch the Thursday before Christmas, so it was not crowded. The decorations were lovely; the waitress was excellent, and there were so many things on the menu I wanted we planned a second trip. It was too cold to sit outside, but there's a lovely patio overlooking the Baltimore Museum of Art's sculpture garden.
We love Gertrude’s. Great food, quiet atmosphere, and half price wines on Wednesdays. Can’t wait to go back!
Food was wonderful. Waiter was terrific and loved the ambiance.
As always, wonderfully prepared and served courses.
Abundant excellent wine offerings.
Comfortable, quiet ambience.
Food was excellent and plentiful. Only complaint with the food was that the complimentary bread was a bit dry. (Enjoyed it though!) Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Good value for money as well. Highly recommended!
Friendly service, beautiful ambiance, delicious food, fun activity of voting for our favorite row home. A great place to celebrate! I'll be back!
John Shields does not disappoint. His recipes are faithfully followed. We brunched mostly on the seafood: Salmon topped Caesar, shrimp salad, crab cake. Cocktails we’re good and beer selection on point. Dined in the tent which was comfortable and tables were properly spaced given pandemic conditions. Afternoon brunch was perfect for a Sunday post museum visit.
The holiday decorations were lovely and we enjoyed looking at the models of houses. Our wait person was a very experienced woman.
A lovely choice for all seasons! The holiday decorations were beautiful!
We had a great time! The food was delicious
Beautiful atmosphere great staff!!
We had a great dinner in very lovely surroundings!
This year I am very thankful that Gertrudes is still going strong in Baltimore! Covid has not been kind to restaurants. This is a family favorite - a family tradition - not to be missed on our trips to Baltimore. It was filled with families celebrating together but quieted toward the end of our meal. Eggs Gertrude and Tilghman Island Eggs were both excellent! Our server, Taylor B was knowledgeable and attentive. We will always be a fan of Gertrudes - Baltimore.
the best! and then art to follow. whay could be better?
I really enjoy Gertrudes and I have just been there recently a couple times. I was just really disappointed because especially during a pandemic if somebody makes a reservation for outside in a tent you should at least let them know that that is not available Because all of a sudden you were having a private party there despite the reservation and that they will have to be seated inside at which point you should at least give them an option of a table that is not close to other people. I was disappointed that I was not informed that my outdoor table is not going to be available and that when I got there they had tried to give a table that was really close to other people to my date. I did ask for a further away table and I did get that table but I really didn’t like the way that was handled especially as a repeat customer. I understand that things happen and plans changed but at least I should’ve been informed.
Exactly what we wanted after touring the special exhibit and gift shop.
Great! Wonderful neighborhood restaurant.
Always a pleasant experience, great location and ambiance
What a fantastic dinner we had last evening. Food was excellent and the service great! Thank you for such a great dinner.
Delicious food and wonderful service. It is always a pleasure to visit
Good was fabulous.
Always very good! Unexpectedly we chose to sit outside in the tent. It’s was beautiful and the temperature was very comfortable.
