Gertrude's - Baltimore

We enjoyed our outdoor dining experience at Gertrudes... Great food and vibe for our 40th Anniversary Dinner . (and an awesome dessert)
We had a wonderful dinner for my wife’s birthday. Delicious food and very accommodating service.
All the Chesapeake cuisine (oysters, crab, shrimp, etc.) is wonderful. As much as possible is locally sourced. Always delicious.
Very vibrant atmosphere, yummy menu choices which were delicious
Absolutely delicious!!! Great service and ambiance. We sat outside.
Great food, great service. One of our favorite go-to restaurants. Never disappointed.
A little loud because of a large group to the side, but great food and decent service!
We went for lunch after viewing the Matisse exhibit. The zucchini appetizer was terrific with a wonderful citrus sauce. We enjoyed the spinach salad, tomato Florentine soup and chicken salad sandwich. The chocolate semifreddo with cranberry coulis was divine. Our waiter Ronnie M was most attentive, was most pleasant and gave us superb service.
We look forward to returning on our next visit to the BMA.
Crab cake (for me) and Crab quiche (guest) are as good as it gets - esp. when seated outdoors next to the fountain/pool on a beautiful day. Just the right interlude after the Matisse exhibit!!
Food was less than we had expected based upon previous visits over a long time. Not well prepared. Crabcake was mediocre and very $$. Had no warning that crab was of such poor quality.
A consistently outstanding dining experience! Service is thoughtful and attentive and food is always delicious! One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Baltimore!
The staff was wonderful. We had a nice, leisurely dinner.
Food was good.
Wonderful outdoors dining with the surrounding sculpture garden and flowers The food was particularly good and reasonably priced. Oh the tomato Florentine soup was sublime!
I’ll come back soon.
We try to include a lunch at Gertrude’s every time we visit Baltimore (from West Coast). Recommend outdoor seating, which feels like you’re in the middle of a sculpture garden.
Our waiter Eric B. took a long time to bring us water or acknowledge that we were there. He did not offer us bread and butter that we saw being given to every other table around us. My husband’s meal came out in 15-20 minutes. My meal took about 45 minutes for a turkey burger. We had to get out of our seats 3 times to ask for water, to ask where my meal was and to try to pay the bill. Eric B. was not attentive although he was polite when we finally found him each time.
Everything was perfection--as always. So nice to be back out dining. The sculpture garden is so beautiful. No other restaurant in Baltimore has this.
Beautiful scenery. Friendly service. Good food. Great for brunch.
Fabulous every step of the way! Food, drink, service and ambience!
It's wonderful to have a pleasant place with an extensive menu to enjoy right at the museum. We enjoyed a late brunch after seeing the Matisse exhibit and found the setting, the view to the patio and the live music to be highlights. Warm, friendly service.
The food was incredible---get the Gertie's crab cakes! The are not to be missed.
Two things I wish were different. There was a jazz ensemble the Sunday we had brunch, and it was just a tad too loud---made having a table conversation an effort.
Also, with this level of service and the fabulous cuisine, I was very surprised that espresso/cappuccinos weren't on offer.
But I'd gladly come back.
A beautiful restaurant and a perfect place for brunch. Everything was delicious and the service is wonderful.
I always enjoy Gertrude's. The atmosphere is great and the wait staff is always efficient and courteous
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Pleasant, professional wait staff. This was a birthday treat for a friend and it could not have been better.
Awesome as usual!
We always seem to get seated next to very large, loud tables at this restaurant when we sit outdoors (which we prefer because COVID). The food is usually good, but my meal (sea bass) was meh. The fish was overcooked and the flavors strange. Also, out of a dozen oysters, 2 were bad. This isn't the first time I've had bad oysters there so I won't order again. The dessert was outstanding, however, as was our server Taylor (and all the front of the house staff is wonderful in our experience). Unfortunately the quality of the food seems to be slipping. I understand there are challenges with COVID and I have been trying to give them a pass, but there really isn't an excuse for overcooked fish at a place that prides itself on their seafood. Also, the large, loud table was so annoying I couldn't even hear my dining partner speak. We should have asked to move, but I didn't want to cause trouble.
Well done ! Great service , great food and great time celebrating our anniversary.
Gertrudes food was delicious, as it always is. Being outside on a beautiful day was wonderful and the dance group from Peabody was an extra bonus. They were a treat to observe.
In short, our lunch was everything we could have hoped for! Thank you Gertrudes for being consistently excellent.
Barbara Wolf and Jerry Fine
Delightful outside lunch. Everything was great and it was a bit crowded so service was just a shade slow. Guest had the crab soup and the shrimp salad platter which she raved about. I had the crab quiche and it was good but it just seemed like it might have been yesterday's quiche warmed up ... not as fresh as it could've/should've been IMHO. Cheesecake desert was delish!
The Ambiance is great and can't wait to visit again.
Outstanding restaurant with outstanding staff. Will always stop in this restaurant when in the Baltimore area. Best in the city.
It was a good experience. After lockdowns and being out of the country for months, I enjoyed my dinner with a friend. Gertrudes is one of my favorite restaurants and being a member of BMA, I like to take friends there. The server was extremely warm, helpful and efficient. The lady at the welcome desk could have been more welcoming and more pleasant.
Gertrude’s is a very pleasant surprise— a genuine dining experience in a museum setting. The staff are attentive, the food worthy of making Gertrude’s a destination of its own. (And she is the chef’s grandmother, not Ms. Stein!
The food was great and excellent customer service.
We had a lovely lunch outside under the tent. Food was very good and the service perfect! Very nice atmosphere as usual.
Salmon aka Bella was a mere ghost of previous servings. The fish was dried out by overcooking but it was served at a room temperature. The possible explanation is that the slices were razor thin.
The waiter was adequate but not at the level of others on their staff.
Lovely dinner outside in lovely courtyard. Great service. Please add a few more outdoor lights or brighter table candles .
Jude was a very pleasant and efficient server and was there when we needed her attention but did not hover. The carrots with the rockfish were really very nice. It would be nice if Gertrude's would bring back the cornbread that has been missing from lunch since the pandemic started.
Waiter kindly added chocolate Happy Birthday atop dessert
Our service was outstanding. Tom was very attentive and pleasant.
Our outdoor table was ready when we arrived. Seating outdoors under covered tent in the sculpture garden. Restaurant was busy which is why it took longer for lunch (1.5 hrs) than we planned. But was great atmosphere amid a museum break.
Interesting and good offerings. Eating is the sculpture garden is a treat.
